Chapter 464 Invasion
Colin followed Ryden out of the study, passing through the long corridor and making several turns, until they arrived deep within the Merredith City Council hall.
Here was a hidden Transmission Array hall, where Ryden led him to board the array, and eventually they reached a secret chamber.
Inside the chamber, there were already two people sitting on sofas against the wall, engaged in conversation.
On the left was a robust figure, whose Wizard Robe from the Yista School was stretched taut by his muscular physique; obviously, this was Yeats, the one Ryden had mentioned as hailing from Yista School.
On the right, made to look exceedingly petite next to Yeats, was obviously Mill, the witch. At first glance, her features were plain, dressed in only a simple pale blue Wizard Robe, with no other adornment, not even a badge to be seen.
However, upon closer inspection, when one's gaze met Mill's pale eyes, they would find her to be exceptionally harmonious, like an orchid in a secluded valley, possessing a uniquely quiet charm. Even the simple pale blue Wizard Robe seemed to exude especial aesthetic appeal, making Yeats, who should have been more eye-catching, suddenly appear dull by comparison, relegated to a mere backdrop.
"Miss Mill, I've brought Colin over," Ryden said in a clear voice as he walked in with Colin.
Mill nodded slightly, her gaze falling on Colin, "Is this the wizard you mentioned, who possesses great strength in combat like you, harbors a deep hatred for the Divine, and is unwilling to live a life of mediocrity?"
Colin was momentarily stunned, great strength in combat… indeed that seemed about right, a deep hatred for the Divine… there were hints of that, after all, which wizard in this world didn't hate the Divine?
But unwilling to live a life of mediocrity...
"Yes, Colin is the Heroic Wizard who has thwarted the Divine's conspiracies time and time again, last time even besting their Fourth Rank ambush without so much as a scratch!"
"It was just good luck…" Colin quickly interjected.
Mill looked at him with a gentle smile, "Actually, Yeats and I were just discussing the mission details, we had only just begun, and now that Colin is here, it's perfect to discuss it together."
Colin nodded and sat to the left of Mill, while Ryden took a seat across from him.
"Before we start explaining the specific details of the mission, I need to confirm, Your Excellency, you have decided to participate in this mission, haven't you?"
After Colin had seated himself, Mill continued to inquire.
"Confirmed," Colin answered calmly. Having already made up his mind before coming, he naturally wouldn't hesitate now.
"Very well, let me briefly explain the mission at hand," Mill said as she nodded and cast a emphasizing look across the three people present:
"This mission is of utmost importance. After I have explained it, for whatever reason, if anyone wishes to drop out, they can only stay here temporarily. You will only be allowed to regain your freedom after the mission is over. Is that understood?"
"Understood," the three replied in unison.
Mill nodded and began to formally describe:
"The code name for our mission is 'Infiltration,' and to put it simply, our primary objective is to sneak into the central Lanshengxi Island of the Southern Seven Islands to set up a Transmission Array to assist with the Solid Wall operation."
Mill's words were brief but carried an immense amount of information.
Are we actually going to sneak into the Divine's rear?
'And the Southern Seven Islands.' Colin keenly picked up on a familiar term.
"The specific date for carrying out the mission is tentatively set for one week from now. Before then, our preparation will consist of familiarizing ourselves with the knowledge of setting up a Transmission Array. There will be assessments, and only the wizards who pass will be able to participate in the formal action."
There are assessments too?
In that case, the wizards participating in the operation clearly aren't just the four people Ryden mentioned… Colin pondered silently.
"Miss Mill, didn't you say that only the four of us were involved?" Ryden was slightly startled and asked subconsciously.
"I never said it was only four people, I just discussed Yeats with you and asked if you had any suitable candidates to recommend…" Mill shook her head gently, her kindly demeanor preventing Ryden from getting upset.
Mill paused and then continued, "The stakes of this operation are considerable; even I am not privy to its full scope."
"We are just one part of the overall plan."
"As for the Solid Wall operation, I do indeed know some details, but I cannot reveal them to you yet. All you need to be aware of is that those who pass the assessment will go with me to set up the Transmission Array on Lanshengxi Island."
After saying this, Mill paused for a moment before asking once again, "Now is your chance to opt-out. Does anyone want to quit?"
Following a few seconds of waiting, seeing everyone shake their heads, Mill continued:
"Since no one is withdrawing, then follow me. I will take you to quickly familiarize yourselves with the training location."
Having said this, Mill stood up and led the way out.
As she cast a spell to open the chamber's door, a breeze carrying the familiar salty moisture of the sea greeted them. Colin stepped out of the secret chamber, gazing at the vast expanse of blue before him, and was momentarily taken aback… Had they already reached the Sea Domain?
"This is Clara Island," Ryden supplemented in a timely manner, "located to the north of the Parra triplet islands, and also a rear position in the wizard front lines."
Colin nodded slightly.
During the previous teleportation, he had gotten the sense that the distance traveled might have been great, but he hadn't expected to be directly transported from Merredith City to the seafront!
Clara Island wasn't large, it was a typical small island with a raised center, and at the moment, they stood on the gentle slope of its southern side.
Here lied a cluster of white buildings of various heights and styles, all bearing signs of repairs, with remnants of murals still visible on some of the walls.
