Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Testing the Abyss
The village of Konoha was dead silent.
It was the kind of peaceful night that made you feel like you were living in some kind of ideal world—a world that didn't have a hyperactive jinchuriki shouting about ramen, a perverted old man running around with his latest book, or a Hokage with bags under his eyes from constantly cleaning up the messes those two caused. No, tonight was different. Tonight, the Hokage was probably nursing a headache somewhere, the ANBU were patrolling the shadows, and the civilians? Well, they were all tucked in their beds, blissfully unaware of the chaos a single person could bring.
Aki, however, was not part of this peace. He stood on the balcony of his room, staring out over the village below, hands casually tucked into his pockets.
He stretched, letting his limbs relax after a long day of training. His body had become almost a machine at this point—muscle memory, reflexes, raw power—every aspect of him was dialed in. But tonight? Tonight, he felt an itch. A nagging feeling that something just had to be done.
"...Yeah, nah. I need to blow something up," Aki muttered under his breath.
His training had been all about control. The balance between chakra and reiatsu, the control over his Hollow Form, mastering the art of combat and strategy. But now? He was bored of control. Now, he wanted to see the limits of his power, to truly test what he could do, even if it meant doing something incredibly reckless. But then again, when had that ever stopped him?
He glanced around, making sure no one was looking. It was the dead of night. The village was peaceful. The perfect time for a certain overpowered idiot to sneak out.
Aki's lips curled into a mischievous grin. Then, without another word, he vanished.
One moment, he was standing on the balcony, and the next, there was only the faintest disturbance in the air. His speed was so insane that even the strongest sensors in Konoha wouldn't pick up on his movement until long after he was gone. His legs powered him forward, breaking the sound barrier with a single leap. The wind howled in his wake, and everything behind him twisted and warped.
BOOM.
If anyone had been awake, they might've thought the end of the world had started. The trees bent violently as Aki blitzed across the land, the air around him cracking as though reality itself couldn't keep up with his speed. The ground trembled beneath him, and for a few moments, the night felt like it was on the brink of collapse.
In just a few minutes, he crossed vast distances, leaving the village far behind him. He arrived at an isolated mountain range far from Konoha, a place where no one would be able to witness the aftermath of his actions. He slowed, his feet barely skimming the ground as he hovered over the highest peak, his body glowing with energy that radiated from him like a supernova waiting to explode.
"...Alright. Let's fuck around and find out."
His voice was a mix of anticipation and curiosity, as if he was about to embark on some grand experiment. With a deep breath, he extended his hand. The air around him trembled as pale purple energy swirled to life in his palm, a perfect fusion of chakra and reiatsu. The energy vibrated with uncontained power, crackling with anticipation, almost as if it had its own mind.
Then, without warning, something darker flickered into existence. A small, black sphere appeared at the center of his hand, a pure void that swallowed the light around it. The shadows seemed to bend and twist around it, almost as if the sphere itself was hungry for something, anything to devour.
Aki tilted his head, observing the sphere with genuine curiosity. "Huh. That's new."
This wasn't chakra. This wasn't reiatsu. Hell, this wasn't even his Hollow Form. This was something else entirely—a power so primal, so raw, that it defied the very nature of the worlds he had known. It was pure void. The absence of everything.
His lips curled into a grin.
"...Let's see how much damage this can do."
He tossed the black sphere casually toward the largest mountain in the range. At first, nothing happened. The sphere hovered through the air, an inconspicuous dot against the vast sky. But then—
The world shattered.
The sphere expanded, slowly at first, as if it were savoring the destruction. Space itself twisted around the orb as it grew, and in the blink of an eye, it erupted.
WHOOSH.
There was no explosion. No fiery blaze. No shockwave. Just… erasure. The entire mountain range—the jagged cliffs, the trees, the soil, the very rocks that had stood for centuries—was simply… deleted. The world in front of him disappeared as if it had never existed at all. The ground warped, twisted, and folded in on itself until all that remained was a massive, gaping pit where miles of solid earth used to stand.
Aki stared, his eyes wide with a mixture of awe and disbelief.
"…Oh," he said softly, the weight of his actions slowly hitting him. The air was still. The wind howled, and somewhere in the distance, a lone deer probably had a heart attack from the sheer scale of destruction. He could feel the earth tremble beneath his feet, as if the planet itself was recoiling in fear.
Aki turned around, the corners of his lips pulling into an almost sheepish grin.
"…Yeah, I'm leaving."
Without a second thought, he sprinted back to Konoha, casually running across the land as if he hadn't just caused the largest natural disaster in the area. The night was still silent when he returned, just as it had been when he left. The village hadn't even noticed.
He climbed back into his room, slipping into bed with the same casual grace that he had used to destroy the mountain. His head hit the pillow, and he exhaled, sinking into the soft sheets as if he hadn't just eradicated an entire landscape.
As he closed his eyes, a familiar voice echoed in his mind.
[Ding! Hidden Quest Completed: "Destroy the Ecosystem"]
Reward: A guilty conscience (optional)
Aki groaned, reaching up to pinch the bridge of his nose. "...Shut up."
[Hehe~ What? You did great! That mountain was totally in the way.]
Aelthrys' laughter rang through his thoughts. "You really just said 'fuck that mountain' and deleted it. Damn."
Aki groaned, pulling the covers over his head in an attempt to block out the ever-present voice of the system. "Man... I need to be more careful."
A pause. Then, a voice, laced with mischief, pierced the silence.
"Nah. Do it again."
[YES! DO IT AGAIN!]
Aki sighed heavily, his hand brushing over his face. "Maybe next time, yeah? For now…"
He rolled over, grumbling under his breath as he tried to fall asleep. Aelthrys, however, was having none of it.
"I bet the mountain didn't even know what hit it," she mused. "You really should try it again. I'm sure you can make a bigger hole next time."
Aki, now half asleep, muttered something incoherent in response.
For now?
He was just going to act like nothing happened.
