Chapter 8: Chapter 8: The Awakening of Infinity
Aki exhaled, sitting cross-legged in the center of his training space. His body felt… strange. Not in a bad way, but in a way that made everything feel lighter, sharper, endless.
Across from him, Aelthrys leaned against a floating rock, arms crossed, her golden eyes narrowed.
"You feel it, don't you?" she said.
Aki nodded. "Yeah… It's like I'm more here than I was before. Like my existence is just…" He struggled for words. "More."
The System hummed. [That would be because you've just obtained one of the most broken bloodlines in existence, Dear~]
A screen materialized in front of him.
[Congratulations! You have obtained: The Bloodline of Ophis – The Ouroboros Dragon]
Boundless Energy – Your energy reserves are now infinite, never depleting no matter how much you use.
Conceptual Existence – Your being operates on an infinite cycle, making you nearly impossible to erase.
Dragon's Authority – Your presence exerts a natural dominance over weaker beings.
Reality Manipulation Potential – While locked, your bloodline holds the power to alter existence itself.
Aki blinked. "...So I really just became broken, huh?"
Ael snorted. "You were already broken. Now you're just—what's the word you humans use? Busted."
He smirked. "That's the one."
As he stood, something shifted in his vision.
Ael's gaze sharpened. "Your eyes… They changed again."
Aki summoned a small mirror-like reflection with his energy.
His once blue-gray eyes were now… different.
His pupils still had that cross-shaped design, but now, they spun slowly, shifting between colors—deep amethyst, royal gold, abyssal black. A constant rotation, an endless cycle.
Even his hair had deepened in color, the red strands growing darker, hints of black and purple woven in subtly.
Aki whistled. "Not bad. Gives me that 'mysterious final boss' look."
Ael shook her head. "Final boss my ass. You still have to train, brat."
The System giggled. [She's right, you know~ You may have infinite energy, but you don't have infinite skill.]
Aki stretched, feeling the power buzzing under his skin. "Alright, alright. Let's see what I can actually do with this."
Aki stepped forward and focused.
For a second, nothing happened.
Then—
The virtual world reacted.
The very air froze around him. Space itself seemed to tighten for a moment, then relax.
Ael whistled. "Yeah… that's not normal."
Aki raised a hand and summoned his energy.
Unlike before, where his Chakra-Reiatsu fusion had a pale purple glow, his energy now looked deeper, denser, like a black void lined with shifting colors.
He clenched his fist—
And a tiny black sphere formed above his palm.
It didn't expand, didn't devour anything—it simply existed.
Ael tilted her head. "Is that… a void?"
Aki studied it. "Not quite. It's not pulling anything in, just… being there."
He waved a hand, and it dispersed.
Ael scratched her head. "Well, that's some high-tier BS. What else can you do?"
Aki smirked. "Let's find out."
Ael rolled her shoulders. "Alright, brat. You wanna test this power? Try not to die."
Aki grinned. "Same to you, Onee-chan."
Ael twitched. "I swear, if you start calling me that—"
BOOM!
Aki vanished.
Ael barely had time to react before he reappeared right in front of her, a fist aimed at her stomach.
She moved.
Barely.
His punch grazed past her, and the shockwave alone shattered the floating rocks nearby.
Ael raised an eyebrow. "Huh. You're fast."
Aki grinned. "And I'm holding back."
He twisted mid-air and launched a roundhouse kick.
Ael blocked with her forearm, but the impact sent her skidding back.
Aki didn't give her time to breathe—he dashed forward, throwing a rapid combination of punches and kicks, each one faster than the last.
Ael dodged, countering when she could, but even she had to admit—Aki had gotten ridiculous.
Then—
Aki paused.
Ael blinked. "What?"
"…I just realized." Aki rubbed his chin. "I haven't even used my full speed yet."
Ael stared. "You little—"
BOOM!
This time, Aki fully unleashed his speed.
Ael barely registered his movement before he was already behind her, an energy-coated palm aimed at her back.
But instead of attacking, he whispered into her ear. "You know, Ael… for someone always scolding me, you're awfully flustered right now."
Ael's breath hitched for a split second. "Shut up and fight, brat."
Aki smirked. "Oh? But you seem so distracted. Should I slow down? Maybe hold you a little closer?"
Ael spun around and swung a fist at him, but he caught her wrist, leaning in. "So aggressive. I think you just like my attention."
Her eye twitched. "I'm about to introduce you to a new level of pain."
Aki chuckled, tightening his grip slightly. "I'd love to see you try, Ael Onee-chan~"
That was it.
Ael exploded with power, the space around them distorting as she broke free and sent a devastating kick toward his ribs.
Aki blocked, but the sheer force sent him rocketing across the battlefield, crashing through several floating rocks before stopping himself mid-air.
He wiped a trickle of blood from his lip and grinned. "Knew you had it in you."
Ael cracked her knuckles. "Alright, brat. No more holding back."
Aki smirked. "Finally. A real fight."
The world trembled as the battle resumed, each exchange shaking the virtual space itself. Blows clashed with enough force to rupture the very air, and yet—
Aki still found time to tease. "You look cute when you're serious."
Ael threw a blast of energy at his face. "Shut. Up."
The System snickered. [Oh my~ The tension between you two is electrifying! Should I start playing romantic background music?]
Aki laughed as he dodged another attack. "I swear, your personality is getting weirder."
Ael crossed her arms. "Alright, brat. You have infinite power, but zero precision. If you wanna be a real threat, you need to learn control."
Aki groaned. "So… more training?"
Ael grinned. "What, did you think you were done?"
Aki sighed. "Man… being overpowered is exhausting."
