The Boy Who Burned the Heavens

Chapter 36: The Burners Who Answer to No One

"Every fire they extinguish makes them colder. Until they meet one they cannot."

---

⚔️ [Prologue – 300 Years Ago: The First Flame Execution]

A boy knelt before the Throne of the Pantheon, his chest still smoldering.

His name was Daelor, last of the Emberborne of the Northern Sky.

> "Please," he gasped. "My flame… it only protected my people."

Seven figures surrounded him — robed in black, their masks carved from godbone.

They raised their hands.

Seven fingers. Seven flames.

Seven deaths.

In one breath, Daelor's soul was snuffed out.

No scream. No smoke.

Just silence.

And the Burners whispered in unison:

> "The flame that defies must be erased."

---

🌌 [Present – Above the Mortal Realms]

The God of War opened a scroll made of molten parchment. Seven names glowed red:

Aedric Valtoris

Riven Valtoris

Lyara Nox

Mirael the Ashseer

The Reconstructed Selene

The Prophet of Time

The Flame of Meaning

> "Send the Burners," the god commanded.

"Erase them all. Rewrite the flame."

The sky cracked open like paper on fire.

And seven comets — black, trailing crimson embers — descended.

---

🔥 [Scene: Ashborn Refuge – Valley of Cinderveil]

Aedric stood at the edge of the cliff, eyes fixed on the heavens.

Riven beside him, now cloaked in a mantle of living flame.

Mirael's voice trembled as she read from the prophecy scroll:

> "Seven will descend.

But only flame that remembers… can stand."

> "What are they?" Riven asked.

> "Executioners," Aedric said.

"The kind that kill with purpose, not power."

---

☄️ Impact

The sky screamed.

Seven black spheres slammed into the valley, sending molten earth and ash miles high.

From the smoke emerged the Burners — each taller than a man, cloaked in scorched scripture. Their masks held no eyeholes.

Only names.

One name each.

And every name they had extinguished before.

🎯 Target: Riven

They don't speak.

They simply point — all seven fingers toward Riven.

Mirael screams:

> "They're targeting the named flame! The boy!"

Aedric steps in front.

But Riven holds him back.

> "Let me try."

> "Riven—"

> "I won't be protected forever.

Let me… lead, Father."

Aedric's eyes burn.

Not with fear — but pride.

He nods.

> "Then make them remember what they came to forget."

---

⚔️ [Battle: Riven vs. Three Burners]

Silra, Thyrr, and Narae strike.

Silra: voice becomes a memory wave — Riven hears Selene's betrayal on repeat.

Thyrr: breathes in Riven's flame and vomits black oblivion.

Narae: appears behind him with a child's laugh and a blade shaped like a broken promise.

Riven stumbles… but then remembers the Trial.

He shouts his name:

> "RIVEN VALTORIS!"

And Valtoris Ignis bursts from his chest.

The flame sings with memory:

Aedric holding him for the first time.

Lyara whispering "you matter."

The Hollow Flame choosing him.

A wave of burning history incinerates Thyrr's breath.

He turns on Silra — and overwrites the false memory with a projection of hope.

Silra screams — and forgets herself.

Narae leaps — and is met mid-air with a fusion strike from Riven and Aedric.

> 🔥 Echoflame Resonance: Father-Son Arc Unleashed!

---

💀 Three Down

Silra: erased by her own forgotten truth.

Thyrr: consumed by the flame he tried to eat.

Narae: vanishes without a sound — the regret undone.

---

⚠️ Phase Two Begins – Kevael Steps Forward

The ground splits.

Kevael, The Final Flame, walks forward.

His voice is calm. Dead.

> "You're not supposed to exist.

Flame does not name itself.

Flame is used. Then extinguished."

Riven steps forward.

> "Then use me.

Try.

I dare you."

Kevael raises his hand.

A flame blacker than death emerges.

But something trembles in him.

For the first time… the Final Flame hesitates.

---

🌓 Final Scene – Caelen Watches

From a divine mirror, Caelen Valtoris sips wine and smirks.

> "He's growing."

Behind him, the God of Edits gnashes his teeth.

> "He's corrupting the story."

> "No," Caelen corrects,

"He's writing it.

And I want front-row seats… when the world burns for it."
