The Boy Who Burned the Heavens

Chapter 43: The Fontless One

"He cannot be written. He cannot be spoken. But gods still fear him."

---

🌑 [Scene: Western Edge – The Forgotten Shelf]

It was a place even gods refused to name.

An orphaned zone, outside chapters. Between footnotes. Under the spine of the world.

> "This wasn't part of the map," Mirael murmured.

Riven knelt, palm on the earth.

No story. No genre. No history.

> "Because it's not a place," he said.

"It's a gap. A missing word."

And gaps… invite danger.

🧩 Lore: What Is Fontless?

> 📖 "Fontless" refers to a being removed from narrative systems — no name, no format, no recognized style.

– Immune to genre magic

– Unaffected by divine manuscripts

– Cannot be quoted or recorded

– Only remembered by emotion

In short: a living error.

---

🌫️ Arrival: The Fontless One

The fog thickened.

Not normal mist — but blank pages, folded endlessly. Like the world tried to print something… and failed.

Then—

> step… step…

A figure walked out.

Clad in shifting fragments of deleted dialogue.

No face.

No voice.

But an aura of rejection so deep, Riven's flame flickered.

> "It's him…" Mirael whispered.

"The Fontless One."

> "What does he want?" Aedric asked.

> "Nothing," Lyara answered.

"He's not here to win."

> "He's here to erase."

---

🗡️ First Encounter – Style Erasure Begins

The Fontless raised his hand.

Reality rippled.

And…

Lyara's eyes lost their glow.

Mirael forgot her spells.

Aedric's weapon turned back to cold metal.

> "He's removing font essence," Mirael gasped.

"He's deleting style itself!"

Even Riven stumbled.

The flames on his fingers dimmed.

His Ashbrand Quill refused to glow.

> "I can't… feel my tone," he whispered.

The Fontless didn't attack.

He just stood.

And unmade.

---

🔁 Vision Shift – Riven's Chapter Blank

Suddenly, Riven's past began vanishing.

He saw:

His first battle — grayed out

His mother's scream — silenced

Null — erased from memory

Even Caelen's betrayal began to shimmer, like an uncertain rumor

> "He's undoing my authorship…" Riven staggered.

"Line by line…"

But before it vanished completely, Riven clenched his fists and shouted:

> "I'm not written in fonts!

I'm written in flame!"

And the SoulFont Flame roared back.

His quill reignited — not with ink…

But with ashes.

---

⚔️ Battle: Riven vs. The Fontless One

Fontless strikes: Reality bends, memories vanish, existence flickers

Riven counters: Flame-script, emotional tethering, anchoring himself in pain and choice

Every move is resisted.

The Fontless does not bleed. Does not scream.

He just… erases.

At one point, Riven's name vanishes from his own interface.

> "You don't get to define me," Riven growls.

"I wrote myself into existence.

You? You're just a typo the world couldn't fix."

He slams Ashbrand Quill into the ground.

And writes:

> "I name the unnamed."

The world shudders.

The Fontless stumbles.

For the first time — it jerks back.

---

🧿 Revelation – The Truth Behind the Fontless

Suddenly, the fog parts.

And Mirael sees what lies inside the Fontless.

Not a man.

But a hole.

A tear in the narrative, left behind by the First Rewrite — when the gods erased their original author.

> "He was their creator," Mirael whispers.

"And they deleted him to take control."

> "He wasn't nameless," Riven realizes.

"They just removed his name from the world."

> "He's not Fontless.

He's the Author Before Gods."

And now?

He was waking up.

---

💥 Final Clash – Flame vs. Void

Riven calls upon every chapter he's survived.

He doesn't attack with fire.

He attacks with memory.

He speaks the names of the dead:

> "Elias, the page-turner."

"Selene's unborn truth."

"The rewritten twin."

"The boy I once was…"

Each name burns brighter than any spell.

Because memory is the font the gods can't erase.

The Fontless shrieks — soundless but world-breaking.

He lunges — to unmake Riven in one final erasure.

Riven whispers:

> "Your name is buried.

But I remember you."

And writes:

> "He was once called Ithrael."

---

🌈 Result – The Fontless Weeps Ink

The creature stops.

Trembles.

And begins to cry.

Ink runs down its body.

The fog clears.

And Ithrael — once a god, then a ghost — kneels before Riven.

A single word appears above him:

> "Restored."

And he vanishes into light.

---

🕯️ Aftermath – Divine Realms Stir

In the Manuscript Sky, alarms echo.

The Seven God-Scribes rise from their seats.

> "Ithrael's name… returned?"

"Impossible."

"Only an Origin Pen could do that!"

A shadowed figure emerges behind them.

Claps slowly.

> "Well… looks like the boy is writing back."

> "What do we do now?" one god asks.

The lead scribe growls:

> "We burn his pages."

---
