The case of me, a plain office worker, being approached by my beautiful boss and the company idol for some reason

Chapter 2 - My Boss is the Ice Queen

“……6:30, huh……well, time to get up.

“Another day without needing an alarm…I am impressed with my own internal clock.”

On days I have work, I wake up at about the same time even without setting an alarm.

Of course, I do have an alarm set, but I hardly ever wake up to it.

I leave my room and first boil some water in the kettle.

While the water is boiling, I wash my face and straighten out my voluminous black hair.

Next, I brush my teeth while checking the morning internet news.

After that’s done, I pour the hot water and make coffee.

I have that with a pre-made sandwich for breakfast.

The whole process probably takes about 15 minutes.

“Hmm, no wasted time today either. For working adults, time is limited after all.”

I read online novels while taking my time to eat breakfast.

This makes it easier to feel full, and chewing thoroughly helps wake up my brain.

“……So, it’s 7:20, huh. Time to go to work.”

I check my things, put on my glasses, and change into my suit.

Once I’m ready, I leave the apartment building where I live.

I hop onto my moped and head for the office.

I don’t like the crowds on the train and it takes more time, making it inefficient.

By train, it would take about an hour in total, but on my moped, it doesn’t take more than 30 minutes.

If you live in the city, a moped is very convenient.

Unlike a car, you won’t get stuck in traffic.

“I’ve arrived……ah, it’s exactly 8 o’clock. Not too early, not too late.”

Work starts at 8:30, so this timing is just right.

If you’re a new hire, it takes time to prepare, so it’s better to get there 30 minutes early.

But since I joined the company right after graduating from university and this is my 5th year, there’s no need to rush.

“Good morning.”

I greet the security guard in the building and get on the elevator.

My workspace is on the fourth floor.

When I get off the elevator, I punch in and enter the room.

The time is…20 minutes before work…Good, no one can complain about that.

I immediately sit at my desk and boot up my computer.

“Now……what’s the task for today……”

“Mito-kun? Do you have a moment?”

“Good morning, Matsuura-san.”

I stand up properly and give a polite greeting.

Her name is Reina Matsuura.

She’s in charge of our section and is the team leader.

She’s very strict and everyone is afraid of her.

…But I think she’s relatively kind to me?

“Yes, good morning. You’re commendable for coming at the same time every day. That means you can manage yourself.”

“Thank you. You’re always here early too, Matsuura-san, I appreciate your hard work.”

“…AHEM! Ah, thank you…”

Hmm? Why is she blushing? Is it just my imagination?

Matsuura-san left in a hurry…strange?

I’m puzzled, but my computer is ready, so I turn my attention to it.

“There’s no discrepancy in yesterday’s data…Today’s input is…”

Our company mainly deals with food product development and sales.

Ready-to-eat meals, frozen foods, preserved foods, and the like.

My job is mainly data entry.

I input the collected data into the computer.

Sometimes, I organize the content of surveys, make it easy to understand, and submit it to my superiors.

“Excuse me? Do you know what time it is now?”

“Eh? But there are still five minutes left, right?”

“You come in five minutes before, and you’re ready to work five minutes later?”

“Eh? No, that…”

…It seems like a new male employee is being scolded by Matsuura-san at the entrance of the office.

“I told you, didn’t I? About common sense as a working adult. Come early while you’re still getting used to the job. Of course, I wouldn’t complain if you could start your work perfectly by coming in five minutes earlier.”

“I-I’m sorry!”

“Sorry? That’s not it. Who asked you to apologize? I want to know what you’re going to do about it.”

“I-I’ll come in early and prepare!”

“That’s right. As long as that’s the case. There won’t be a…next time, right?”

“Y-Yes…!”

“Wow, she’s scary…”

“Poor thing…he’s still a new grad…”

“There’s a way to say things…”

Whispers about Matsuura-san could be heard in hushed tones around me.

…Hmm, I don’t think she said anything wrong, though.

Of course, there might be a need to consider how she says things.

“Hey, everyone. Instead of wasting time gossiping, let’s get to work today.”

At a timing as if she heard the murmurs, Matsuura-san said so.

…With a glacial smile on her face…

“Yes!!!!!”

…This is why she’s called the Ice Queen…

Yes, my boss is a person known as the Ice Queen in the office.
