The Cursed Extra: Twin Souls Against the World

Chapter 28: The Hex core

### Revised chapter###

This time, Instructor Luna started mumbling something.

Zayn gripped the side of the bench as he felt massive pressure from her.

It was like he was sitting in front of a massive beast that could devour him in the blink of an eye.

He saw that the other students were in a similar condition. Some went as far as to crouch below their seats.

Not caring about the students, Instructor Luna simply snapped her fingers, and the next moment, a blue flame appeared in her hand.

Zayn stared as the blue flame engulfed her hand like some sort of fiery glove.

Even with all that fire, it didn't seem like it was burning her hand in any way.

He had read about all this, but seeing it in real time was much more fascinating.

Instructor Luna transferred the flame from one hand to the other and said, "As new Hex Masters, your priority is to understand the hex energy produced by your hex core."

"The biggest limitation you'll face while using your hex arts will be the cursed property of your hex energy."

As she said that, Zayn saw her hand start to become pale.

Within moments, her skin lost all its shine and turned ghostly white.

It kept getting paler each second until, within a minute, blue veins appeared all over her body.

She started to look like a frozen corpse.

At that moment, she clapped her hands, and the blue flame disappeared.

She moved her palm, and Zayn saw her skin begin to recover, starting from her hands.

In the next minute, she transformed from a corpse back to the beauty she was.

As her face regained its color, she said with a smile, "I am a Hex Master who uses Nytra from the Cursed Land of Icy Deserts."

"What you just saw was the curse attached to the hex energy of those who use Nytra from the same cursed land as mine."

Even though she was smiling, the teens before her did not share the same reaction.

Even her beauty couldn't hide the horror of what they'd just seen.

Everyone looked at her with serious expressions.

She waved her hand to diffuse the tension. "Don't worry, what I did is uncommon. If you follow the proper way, you won't face this problem."

She rubbed her hands and clapped.

The next moment, all their IDs started to blink.

She waved her hand and said, "Check your ID after the class. I've sent all the details about the different cursed lands."

"I suggest all of you at least read everything about your cursed land and the cursed property that it leaves on your hex energy. Just keep in mind, depending on how you use it, these cursed properties will either be your nightmare or a boon for you."

Xane mumbled at this. [Well, they're a nightmare in our case.]

Zayn nodded.

Xane paused. [Oh, how can we change it to a boon?]

Zayn just rubbed his chin.

Xane asked with marvel, [Wait, is that possible?]

Zayn sighed.

Xane mentally rolled his eyes and said nothing.

Instructor Luna clapped her hands. "Ok, let's move to the last section of the class: the hex core. When it comes to your hex core, all of you should seek answers to two questions."

"First, what is the hex skill attached to your hex core? These hex skills are something that will be unique to everyone."

"It could range from a passive boost to your hex arts, or it could be an attack that you can freely use without any hex arts. As Hex Masters, your priority should be to understand how your hex skill even works."

An elf from the front asked, "Instructor, how can we understand it?"

Instructor Luna shrugged her shoulders. "Well, you can do some experiments to find out what your hex skills are."

"If that doesn't work, then you can wait for your hex core to fully stabilize inside your body. It will take around 4–6 months, and then you will be able to see your hex skill description in your status."

Xane clicked in irritation. [Fck, that's irritating.]

Zayn consoled him.

At this moment, Instructor Luna looked toward Liam and said, "By the way, the power of your hex skill depends on your potential. That's one thing where those of high potential have a clear edge."

Xane said in understanding, [Oh, so that's the case.]

Zayn asked,

[No, I mean from earlier, she just kept yapping about how those with low potential could compete with those with high potential.]

Zayn had the urge to slap his forehead, but stopped himself at the last moment.

[Come on, I'm not that stupid. From how Zenaris treats Melina for her potential, I understand that there must be more to it than Luna tells us. Otherwise, families wouldn't even favor the high-potential kids.]

 Zayn nodded.

Instructor Luna pointed three fingers at this time. "The second thing is the type of your hex core. Your hex core can either be a weapon or armor type, it could be a semi-sentient living entity, or it could be in the shape of a random item."

One guy from the back asked, "Instructor, isn't the hex core only responsible for creating hex energy? Why does its shape even matter?"

She waved her hand. "You can research that on your own. I'm not going to spoon-feed all of you. Now, before I end this class, let's talk about hex arts and your mentor selection."
