The Devil's Mad Dog (BL)

Chapter 7: There Is A Devil Inside

Ashton blinks; he opens his mouth to speak, but a uncanny laugh leaves his mouth instead. He laughs, snorts, feels tears form in the corner of his eyes as he laughs mockingly at the strangers in front of him.

"What a good fucking joke!" Ashton said, sighing in relief. "Now can you let me go? I have to get back home."

"You frankly don't have one to go back to." The woman said, her face blank. "A quarter of the city doesn't thanks to you and Mad Dog."

"What-? Look, I don't like whatever joke this is-." Ashton said, shooting a pointed look at Mad Dog. "But I don't know who the fuck this guy is nor any of you, and it's kind of illegal to kidnap someone, so let me go!"

"We would," the woman said, raising her hand and showcasing a badge shaped in a silver ghost. "However, because what has happened is beyond regular human control, we—Co—are now in jurisdiction to any and all supernatural and demonic criminals, which now includes you, Ashton Grace."

"I-." Ashton said, raising an eyebrow. "I never told you my full name..."

"You never had to." The woman said, snapping her fingers. The man besides her handles a weird-looking sphere-which after pressing a button, reveals to be a projection. The projection reflections off the mirror and morphs into a mirror showcasing moving scenes. After watching closely, Ashton realize these scenes are from the back alley—where his friends were killed, to then the little girl, and then to him as he transforms into—well into whatever the fuck that is.

"So do you still think this is a joke?" The woman asked. Ashton opens his mouth to speak, but he doesn't know what to say. He just stares at the scene intently, watching himself fight like a beast, tearing apart buildings, breaking apart poles, carelessly fighting as people are killed or injured in the crossfire, and Ashton feels more sick than intrigued by what he sees.

"I don't know-." Ashton starts to say, but his words are lodged in his throat. "I-no that's-well I-that's me?"

The woman nods, snapping her fingers to signal for the man holding the projection to turn it off. "As I've said, there seems to be a demon inside of you, seemingly as you haven't transformed like the others and you have returned to your human state. So it means whatever it is that's inside of you, you don't have control of currently, but you currently have control of your humanity."

"I-what does that even mean…?" Ashton said.

"It means possibly a devil-no, most likely a devil has been sealed inside of you, maybe due to a contract?" The woman said, her eyes never once leaving Ashton's distressed one. "I'm not too sure, but that means you aren't fully human, but human and devil, as we should call it."

"This doesn't m-make any sense." Ashton said, his voice laced with fear. "I don't remember dealing with any devils—we'll—fucking ever, so there's no way-."

"The subject themselves doesn't always have to deal with demons." The woman said, raising an eyebrow. "Someone you know may have contracted it to you. It happens all the time, as long as the contract is strong enough and the power equates to the desire."

"H-how can you be even sure that-well-I-." Ashton said, biting his lip. "Maybe you're wrong and-and you got the wrong guy…"

Ashton doesn't even believe himself when he said that, nor by the awkward looks on everyone's faces, neither does anyone else, which makes Ashton deflate, his eyes focusing on anything and nothing as he sorts his mashing thoughts together.

"We are most certain it is a devil." The woman said, "However, I must discover which one. It seems quite powerful—the devil in you—so I'd like to figure that out to best know how to go from here."

"What do you mean…?" Ashton said, raising an eyebrow. "Does it matter? Can't you guys just take it out? I don't want it!"

"We'd have to find a solution to do so." The woman said, raising an eyebrow. "And in order to do so, we must first access how powerful the demon truly is."

"Is that really necessary..?" Ashton said, feeling his body swinging from the ceiling. "Should we just get rid of this thing and-."

"If we try to get rid of it your way," the woman said, pointing to Ashton. "We'd most likely have to try to injure or kill the host, which may result in the demon either coming out and taking over your dead body, or maybe—just maybe—weaken the demon enough to where we can kill it, especially because you'd be it's power source, and killing the source means killing the circuit-."

"Okay, okay, okay! I get it!" Ashton said. "I don't want you to fucking kill me-!"

"Good. That would be quite boring, hm?" The woman said, raising a thin eyebrow. "Plus it would be such a waste, especially since the devil looked quite promising to work with."

"What?" Ashton asked, furrowing his eyebrows. "You guys work with demons?"

"Well, we mainly exorcise the supernatural—mainly devils, however there are other supernatural beings we do take care of, but our bread and butter are devils." The woman said. "However, personally I believe why not ultiize tools that can help make the job easier, you know? Some organizations don't agree with Co's philosophy on it, but I see no harm in working with tamable devils. Take Mad Dog for example."

The woman points to the tall man—Mad Dog—who rolls his eyes and pushes his glasses further on his face. "He's kind of like you—he contracted a devil, so he uses it to help him in his work-."

"I'm nothing like him." Mad Dog said, shooting Ashton a heavy glare, one that Ashton returns automatically. "I did it for a good reason. This idiot doesn't even know how it even entered his body. What a dud."

"The fuck you call me?" Ashton said, baring his teeth, realizing while his tongue hits the bottom of his teeth that he may have fangs at the moment. "Piss off four eyes-."

"I'm-wait, what-?" Mad Dog said, spinning his head around to give Ashton a piece of his mind. The woman only sighs, rolling her eyes as she waves the two men off.

"Whatever the case may be, I need to test out how your devil works." The woman said. "It'll help for research purposes. And to see if your worth keeping."

"And if I'm not?" Ashton said, raising an eyebrow. "I mean worth-uh-keeping."

The woman's looks up, her eyelashes heavy as her brown eyes burn a light auburn, almost a shade of a brownish red.

"I'd prey you'd to not find out." The woman said. "So let us hope that your devil is as useful as it seems to be for us, hm?"

The woman looks up before she signals to the man at her side. The man nods, pressing a button beside him that causes Ashton to yelp and drop hard on the ground. Ashton flinches, holding his pounding head and throbbing back as he looks up at the woman through the glass mirror.

"How about we have Mad Dog help us with that?" The woman smiles, her pretty face showcasing how michievous she truly is. "I wouldn't mind a cat and dog fight."
