Chapter 281: Savior
It seemed like I wouldn't be hindered after all. I could reach for a mild healing elixir on my personal space and heal her. However, how could I be sure she would keep the end of her bargain?
My mind drifted to the remaining time once again.
[Time remaining to find Hellish Dark Blade: 15 minutes]
'Grggh' I groaned internally, it was beginning to feel like I was being pushed to a corner, and I didn't like that one bit.
I withdrew a mild healing elixir, holding it by the tips of my fingers, and I walked to the emaciated woman.
My eyes shone, telling that absolute appraisal was active.

[End Of Information]
'Death by impaling.' That was quite brutal, and for one that was so young. I got a bad impression of the Eastern Theocracy since then.
'Hmmm, I need clues to get to the sword. What do I do?' I looked at the lifeless eyes of the girl. Her eyes were opened and unblinking, fixated at where I stood. I think she was too tired to move them around.
I knelt to her, the elixir in hand, and whispered,
"How would I be certain that you won't run off once you get healed? I barely know you, and though I sympathize with your condition, I'm not as kind as to give a valuable elixir for free."
For the first time since our conversation, she moved her head, slowly, and her lifeless and exhausted eyes were fixed on mine. It was like she got a look into my soul with how intense her stare felt.
'Burn…Burning…Oaths…Us…two…would.. never break'
'Burning oaths?' What was that?
It seemed like she could tell the confusion present on my face, as she tried speaking some more, her lips trembling, fighting to make the words.
"They…can…not…be…broken." She uttered each word like she swallowed a rock with each.
"I see, and how do we do this burning oath?"
At this point, I was getting quite worried about the time. The lady was taking too much time to speak, and my time was getting close to being used up.
I dangled the tube of glowing green liquid in front of her, and I noticed a little tint of life in her eyes when I did. It was hope. I would hate to crush her feelings of hope, but this was hell, doing so is just little of the truly wicked things done in it.
She slowly raised a finger and reached for her neck. This action brought my attention to it, and around her neck, I saw a black painting, a tattoo that seemed to be a drawing of grotesque chains.
She tapped on the tattoo twice with the finger, the tattoo lit up in an orange fiery light with each but died soon after, and then she slowly placed it in her mouth and bit this said finger. I was calm with the whole process, merely keeping my attention on what she did.
She placed the bloodied finger on the tattoo once again, and this time, it lit up, brighter than before, and also unlike before, I could feel the warmth radiating from the aglow tattoo. All was fine, until she reached for my hand.
I withdrew it and stood. I wasn't going to join a ritual until I was certain about its mechanics and that I wielded a considerable level of control over it.
She looked up at me, her eyes begging that I cooperate. Her unspoken words didn't reach me however, I cared not for her well-being, I only needed to secure mine.
Once she realized that I wouldn't do what she wanted, she beat on the tattoo twice again and it remained lit.
"I…will…heed… the command… of…sir" she paused, and for a moment I didn't know what was required of me, I simply stared curiously.
"Oh, Mikey Rael." As soon as I mentioned my name, the tattoo brightened once more and once again it dimmed, however, still aglow.
My name was fine, my blood however wasn't. The hell resident human then began to utter some words I couldn't make out, the tattoo brightening with every utterance, and then her body combusted.
I took a few steps back, surprised by this.
'She killed herself.'
She didn't, the flame died just as soon as it erupted. The girl's tongue was out now, she struggled to breathe, and after a few ragged breaths, she spoke,
"Done."
The burning oaths were complete, at least on her end, I hoped. I walked to her and unclogged the tube, pouring the green fluid on her head. It dripped below and she stretched out her tongue to get some of the elixir in her mouth.
I watched as color came back to her eyes. A warm light embraced her, and her wounds began fixing themselves. The rotting holes healed, though left ugly scars were they had been, after all, it was only a mild healing elixir.
It was enough, but she would feel a little pain for a short while. I had a high level healing elixir, but I couldn't use such a valuable item on her, not while I had the mild one.
After about a minute of being bathed by the healing properties of the elixir, she got up, her naked body shown to me.
She said the words with gravitas that I was surprised and satisfied by it.
"Thank you savior."
Her voice was so soothing, and I mindlessly nodded.
"Hmmm hmmm!" To the matter at hand.
"Your end of the bargain."
"Yes, I will tell you where the hellish dark blade is."
Now that her life energy was restored, I wondered how strong she actually was.
Then, she jumped, and the surface she had stood on caved in.
