The Dreamer's POV

Chapter 288: Sacrificial Lamb

"Oh welcome great lord, oh welcome my God." The dragon lords of the nine headed dragon alliance sang.

The rocky structures that held the cavern together began to melt and with it, their abode crumbled. It was time to get out of hiding.

Park saw from the distance a dust cloud and heard a rumble. He activated <Flight> and drifted from the trees where he was to atop the crumbled cave.

A swirling wisp of steam oozed from below, causing Park to stop to observe.

He looked down to where it came where a large spittle of fire came at him above.

"What the?" He managed to utter before crisscrossing his arms in defense.

A sizzling sound occured, followed by steam from where the Park hovered. Once it was clear, a swirling mass of water encased Park within himself, protecting him.

He threw his arm to the side in annoyance, his face stern and mad with rage.

"What is this?!" He demanded.

He noticed a white clad figure drift up above to him.

"Ludciel?"

He got no response, but he soon realized it was who he thought upon then getting closer.

"What is this about, Ludciel?! Give me an explanation."

"The explanation is quite simple, it is a shocker that one as witty as you couldn't get what it means. It is simple really, you are simply not needed anymore."

"Not needed?..." Park paused and then he saw the strange expression on the dragon lord he couldn't quite put his finger on.

"Will I get my eye?"

Ludciel burst into laughter upon the question, he held his abdomen, his tongue out of his mouth like it was choking him.

"Your eye? What eye? That is simply a myth a charlatan shared so he could sell maps. Do not believe everything you see on books child." He uttered, there was a cold glint to his voice, and Park knew what was next.

'I'm not the number seven ranker for nothing, I'll show you.'

He held his index finger and middle finger out and together to execute a move when something approached from his side.

'What?!' He noticed a little too late however. Another Dragon lord came for him, and from a blind spot no less. His hand was coated with the hottest of flames, and then he struck it on Park's flank, hitting a part of his gut.

Park gagged as he was flung backwards and hurling towards the forest. He struck branches and trees, breaking through them upon his arrival, until he stopped by a massive tree.

He fell to its base, battered, bruised, upturned and filled with a thousand splinters.

A second later, he turned from his upside down position and got on his feet almost like nothing had happened. He touched the blackened and sunkened spot the punch made, and then looked to the path of his crash.

'That was one strong punch.' That would kill most participants, and even some rankers, but not him, for he had many lives.

"That alone took one of my three lives."

He had just spoken the words when he sensed a presence above. And true to his intuition, the dragon lords were above him, pitifully staring down at him. The alliance had had use for their useful idiot, but it was time to let him go.

"Ludciel, I might have said a few words, but don't you think this a little too much, are you trying to get me killed here, huh?!" Park asked rather casually.

There was a wide smile on Ludciel's face. He had thrown off the hood that his hid features, revealing a purple scaly lizard first. His face was cold and large. He had a large scar that went from his neck down to his shoulder and his eyes were fiery red, like rage was contained within them.

"You are much tougher than you look child." Ludciel said with a thick slithery voice.

"I get that a lot you see."

"Yes we have, we underestimated you, but you're still an insect at the end of the day. You will burn eventually. Yes, it would be fitting that it was the one who offered to our cause be his sacrifice. It is decided, you will be our lord's sacrificial lamb."

"I came here for an eye that you promised, not to be burnt."

"Hmmm…" Ludciel's eyes drifted from Park and towards the forest. Something was amiss.

Suddenly, his bulkier partner zoomed further into the forest while he sent a long spear down at Park below, which went through his heart, ending him. Except, that wasn't Park. The attack basically disintegrated what stood in his place when what it ought to do was just to pierce him.

"A silly clone."

The large dragon lord zoomed forward breaking through trees as he tried to reach the real Park who was speeding away.

The dragon lord was much faster than Park however, much much faster, that it was almost instantaneous that he reached Park.

The Lord appeared just behind Park, and over him, lunging down his fist.

Park was startled by this and he turned wide-eyed to the approaching punch that would probably take a life leaving him with just one.

Was this it? Would this bring him closer to his maker?

His mind was blank at that moment, he was practically frozen to the dragon lord,a still target for him to destroy.

However, today wasn't the day. The outstretched arm sunk into a portal that suctioned in the lord instantly, relocating him meters away from Park.

The dragon lord was startled by this, and zoomed at Park again, but this time, something caught him, his punch was caught by someone.

"That was your warning."

Caught in front of another obscured by a brown shawl was the dragon lord's hand. The lord looked at this stranger, swiftly withdrew his hand, and zoomed back.

Then, Ludciel appeared beside his dragon lord kin, curious about what was wrong.

"What is wrong?" He questioned his kin, when he turned to the thick bearded man, dirty man wearing a dirty shawl.

"Oh, it is you. I was wondering when you will show up."
