The Epic Dragon Titan

Chapter 685: Chapter 685: Yes, I Am the New Captain

"I know," Muria scratched his head in frustration. By now, he understood the value of the intelligence given to him by the ancient golden dragon, Barthelme. The liches listed had no troublesome backgrounds, so Muria could either subdue them by force or kill them without any repercussions. The only problematic one was the legendary lich with the Death God Naraku's insignia. However, Muria could understand that Barthelme couldn't have investigated every detail of a legendary lich, so some errors were normal.

At this point, Muria indeed needed to stop. Without accurate intelligence, he could inadvertently offend some powerful forces or gods who were in the midst of their plans. Although he had the backing of the Titan race and the metallic dragon race, it didn't mean he could recklessly offend powerful and otherwise peaceful entities. Muria, having grown up, couldn't always trouble his parents and elders.

"But this guy," Muria turned to the intelligence dossier, eyeing the one entity he hadn't yet dealt with: the undead captain, legendary lich Barbosa, who commanded a ghost fleet. According to Barthelme's investigation, Barbosa might have significant backing, but it was uncertain.

Having interacted with the undead captain, Muria knew Barbosa was connected to the largest undead force in the world, the Undead Council, and was one of its councilors.

"I can't deal with a millennia-old lich like him now, but I can still take a look." Muria's eyes gleamed with desire for Barbosa's ghost ship, which had unique properties such as consuming wraiths to grow and repairing itself from damage—a semi-living vessel with bizarre attributes. The ghost ship construction technology it held was top-tier knowledge, with its only flaw being its vulnerability to holy attributes.

"What are you planning now?" Irvist frowned as he watched Muria tear open a space to travel somewhere again. He and his sister had been following Muria through the underground caverns, helping him fight various undead liches, and Irvist felt like he had become Muria's henchman, which annoyed him. His sister, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy it.

"I want to check out the Sea of the Dead. I heard it's semi-open and allows all undead to enter," Muria replied. The Sea of the Dead was the half-plane of Barbosa, the undead captain, who differed greatly from other liches.

At the peak of his legend, Barbosa was still a pirate, turning his half-plane into a natural harbor—a peculiar move that other liches couldn't understand. A half-plane wasn't meant for such use.

"I'll go too," Mikaela eagerly joined in. This past month, she had fought alongside Muria against powerful liches with various combat styles, enjoying the battles without any other worries since Muria handled everything else.

"You can come, but you must conceal your aura. We're facing a peak legendary lich, and if we're caught, the consequences won't be pleasant." Muria, stroking his chin, pulled out a set of bone armor from the half-plane. In nearly a month of battles, he had shattered many legendary liches' bodies, using their bones to forge temporary armor sets.

These armors had one purpose: to conceal the wearer's aura and disguise them as undead.

"If you want to come, Mikaela, I have one for you too." Muria handed her a piece of armor that looked as if it were carved from white jade, outwardly holy but filled with intense death energy on the inside, sealed completely from the inside.

"What about mine?" Irvist asked.

"None for you." Muria, taking the armored Mikaela by the hand, entered the spatial rift directly, followed by the legendary liches without a glance, all slipping in one by one.

The sound of water striking stone reached Muria's ears. Using his dark vision, he saw himself standing on a pitch-black water surface, unable to see what lay beneath despite his vision. He only saw some wraiths drifting by, the water carrying strong death energy.

"Does anyone know what this water is?" To avoid being detected by Barbosa, Muria had deliberately deviated from his position and needed to travel further to find the Sea of the Dead's entrance.

"According to rumors, this water flows from Barbosa's Sea of the Dead, mixing with underground water to form this." A lich answered softly.

"This is pollution!" Muria remarked, looking at the filthy river with a twitching mouth. Life on this continent was tough, with even drinking water being unsafe.

After ensuring there was no danger in the water, Muria led Mikaela and a group of legendary liches towards the coordinates given by Barthelme. But a spatial rift suddenly opened behind him, crimson flames spilling out.

"Why are you here?" Muria hissed, frustrated. "You'll get us all exposed."

"I'm worried about my sister, so if you don't want to be exposed, give me armor. Or abandon this mission."

"Fine, take it." Muria impatiently tossed a set of armor to him.

"So this is the Sea of the Dead? Quite impressive." Muria gazed at the endless black ocean and several small warships glowing blue in the distance.

"Those must be Barbosa's ships. Let's go take a look." Muria, eyes gleaming with excitement, sneaked towards a hundred-meter-long iron warship, leading the way.

"Master, we've entered Barbosa's half-plane." A lich, suppressing his aura to match a wraith's, warned Muria as they sneaked in. "Weren't we just going to look?"

"Yes, but with a ghost ship right here, we must check it out. Don't worry, we can't defeat Barbosa, but we can escape. And your phylacteries are with me, so even if you die, you can be reborn." Muria reassured them, the implied threat clear. The liches, reluctantly, followed him.

"This ghost ship feels empty. So quiet." Muria, leading the way aboard, looked around in confusion.

"Who are you? I've never seen you before." A confused voice asked. Muria turned sharply to see a skeleton in a tattered sailor's uniform, sounding puzzled.

"What's this? Why didn't I sense it?" Realizing his infiltration had hit a snag, Muria prepared to deal with the skeleton.

"Oh, I know. You must be the new captain!"

The unexpected recognition stopped Muria's raised arm. His eyes flickered, remembering he was dealing with pirate undead.

"Yes, I am your new captain. You did well, detecting me as I snuck in. Very impressive. You have the potential to be my first mate." Muria's hand landed on the undead sailor's shoulder, nearly disintegrating his soul form.

"Thank you, Captain." The dazed undead sailor, feeling his soul almost shattered, responded. "But I'm already the first mate."
