THE EVIL OF UCHIHA BYAKUYA

Chapter 60: CHAPTER 60

The Third Great Ninja War had broken out, and all of Konoha was on high alert.

"Lord Byakuya, a message from the ANBU," said Uchiha En respectfully.

"The Hokage has summoned representatives from the major clans—including the Uchiha—to a strategic meeting at the Hokage Tower."

Byakuya's eyes narrowed.

"A war council, huh… I'd like to see what Sarutobi Hiruzen is planning this time."

With a sweep of his cloak, he headed straight for the Hokage Building.

When Byakuya entered the council chamber, he saw Hiruzen Sarutobi seated at the head of the long table. Beside him sat the two elder advisors, Utatane Koharu and Mitokado Homura—trusted aides since the time of the Second Hokage. The other clan heads, including Nara Shikaku, Aburame Shibi, Akimichi Choza, and Hyuga Hiashi, were already present.

All heads turned as Byakuya entered.

In recent months, whispers of the Uchiha prodigy's power and rebellious stance had spread through the village like wildfire. His clashes with the elders, his bold public challenges to the Hokage—everyone had heard something. Now, the legend stood before them in the flesh.

"The Uchiha representative has arrived," Hiruzen said calmly. "Please take your seat."

He gestured toward the far end of the table—deliberately distant from the Hokage's seat, as if placing the Uchiha clan lower in the pecking order.

Byakuya's Sharingan glinted slightly, but he said nothing.

Instead of sitting, he walked directly toward the head of the table and stopped in front of Hiruzen. The room tensed.

"I'll be taking your seat today, Sarutobi."

A wave of stunned silence rippled through the chamber.

Did they hear him correctly?

Byakuya had just asked the Hokage of the Hidden Leaf to give up his seat.

Even Hiruzen's expression cracked for a moment. His calm demeanor wavered as he stared at the young Uchiha.

"Uchiha Byakuya… do you understand what you're saying?"

"Loud and clear," Byakuya replied. "If your hearing's not what it used to be, I'll repeat it: move. You're in my way."

The atmosphere turned ice-cold.

Koharu and Homura's expressions twisted with fury. Their disdain for Byakuya was no secret—his recent defiance had cost their factions both face and influence. Yet despite their hatred, they dared not make a move. Byakuya was no mere hotheaded youth—he was a force of nature.

Hiruzen's grip tightened around his pipe.

"…You go too far," he muttered.

Byakuya's eyes bled red as the three tomoe in each eye rotated ominously.

"If you think this is too far, try me. I promise you'll see something far worse."

A long, tense silence followed.

Hiruzen closed his eyes. He wasn't afraid of Byakuya's power—he was the Professor, after all—but he had a village to protect. A fight now, in this very chamber, could fracture the delicate unity Konoha desperately needed in wartime.

"…Very well."

With heavy steps, Hiruzen stood and walked to the far end of the table—the very seat meant for Byakuya.

Gasps and hushed whispers filled the room.

Byakuya sat down in the Hokage's seat, folding one leg over the other.

"Comfortable," he remarked. "Good view of the room."

Then his gaze slid sideways to Koharu and Homura seated beside him.

His brow furrowed.

"Why are you two still here? I don't like the sight of traitorous elders."

Byakuya looked at the two elders coldly, his Mangekyō Sharingan spinning faintly as he sneered.

"Elders of Konoha? You cling to power like leeches and dare call yourselves protectors of the village?"

"Watch your mouth, Uchiha Byakuya!" Koharu snapped, her voice trembling with anger. "We are the Council of Konoha! You have no right to speak to us that way!"

"Council?" Byakuya scoffed. "Konoha's strength comes from its shinobi, not relics who manipulate from behind the scenes. Tell me—will you leave on your own, or should I make you leave?"

"Guards! ANBU!" Homura barked. "Arrest this madman at once!"

But Byakuya didn't flinch. "I'll take that as your answer."

In a flash, he appeared before them, chakra flaring violently as he struck.

CRACK. CRACK.

The sound of two heavy slaps echoed through the room.

Koharu and Homura were knocked off their feet, crashing into the wooden floor of the council chamber. They groaned, blood trickling from the corners of their lips, clutching their reddened faces in disbelief.

"You dare lay a hand on us… in front of the Hokage…!?"

"Outrageous?" Byakuya said, looming over them. "I haven't even gotten started."

Before they could retaliate, masked ANBU operatives burst through the door, clearly alarmed by the chakra disturbance.

"Hokage-sama!" one of them said urgently. "We heard a commotion!"

As Koharu and Homura began to speak, Sarutobi Hiruzen raised his hand to silence them.

"The elders are injured," Hiruzen said evenly. "Take them to the medical corps. Now."

"But—Hokage-sama! He attacked us! This is treason!"

Hiruzen's eyes narrowed as he addressed them firmly. "Koharu. Homura. That's enough."

The two elders froze. Even in their rage, they recognized that tone. It was not the kindly voice of the 'Professor', but the commanding voice of the Third Hokage—the Shinobi no Kami.

"…Understood," Homura said quietly, as the ANBU helped them up and escorted them out.

As the doors closed behind them, Byakuya turned toward Hiruzen. "So, what now, Hokage-sama?"

Hiruzen exhaled a cloud of smoke from his pipe, his gaze unreadable. "Now… we talk."
