Chapter 16: Chapter - 15 Conference
Taking his seat at the table's end, Nerva perched while cupping his hands before him, watching intently at his inferiors.
Subconsciously several cabinet members gulped as a response to his gaze.
"So?" Nerva pressed "Inform me further of our current discord with the Sun Stone Empire?"
"As such, your image-"
Cutting the man off, Nerva made an abrupt announcement in a bored tone clearly not amused by the usage of honorifics.
"I don't want to hear useless banter, as such that naturally includes honorifics, now Einarr"
Flustered, the man internally collected himself before hosting his announcement to the council.
Raising his tone and adjusting his gate the flustered man internally collected himself before continuing his report to his superiors.
For blood's sake, he was only a tier 2 - Master rank!
"Our military's engagement has experienced several unaccounted losses for the lower ranked battles," said the officer"though the numbers of our adversary have experienced a drastic increase in manpower"
"Explain" Navel mused with a tilted head.
"We hypothesize that the Sun Stone empire from examining the bodies of their deceased soldiers, from their tissue's current chemical compositions, energy circuit fluctuation, and from the micro-sized magic inscriptions inscribed in their tissue and cells, from this we deduced that in short bursts the average soldier can display powers in potency in a realm above their current…"
"Nonsense!" Gagged several of the members of the cabinet members
This was nonsense!
There was no way such a thing was true!
It was just intangible to do something so luscious!
If such a thing were true the Sun Stone empire had essentially created a method that would yield them the ability to shift the war.
With a lazy wave of his hands, Navel whose face was etched with indifference spoke with a stoic demeanor.
"Shhh, allow him to continue,"
"Owing to what I previously mentioned I have yet to list the negatives of their 'so and so' newfound technique." continued the officer with a confident tone
"When used by the techniques practitioner, under their bodies will, they are essentially using the berserker path as a basis while adding several contemporary techniques and muddling them with this abandoned path."
"The berserker path?" questioned a man seemingly middle-aged man with emerald green hair.
"Correct sir" the officer affirmed with a nod.
"Simply, the practitioner burns their initial to harness a greater power concentration"
", but I believe this technique is merely a front for what they are truly using.." Einarr said
"I am of the opinion, that this is merely a ploy," Einarr lastly noted with a cold tone feigning confidence before his supperior.
Furrowing his brow Nerva tapped his chin with a thoughtful expression clearly amused.
"I would see such a thing being true for their congregation, as such it could be a sling-and-arrow situation" Nerva chortled.
'Just what the hell are you planning, Ruar' Nerva pondered hundreds of millions of possibilities within his mind in less than a second yet only a few made rational any heed.
Taking himself out of useless calculation within his mind realm, Nerva dismissed his own curiosity before he continued his inquiries to his subordinates.
Of course, Nerva already knew all of this information, but he felt maintaining this monthly meeting was a necessity to build a foundation of trust.
Obviously, the emperor was not native, when he meant trust Nerva implied as in everyone maintained a peaceful government of unity, without it Nerva Believed the Empire since it was built off war would become one of Anarchy.
The crux of the issue is getting them to believe in his own dogma. They have to believe what isn't true, while they refuse to believe what is true. This was the solace that Nerva had to endure.
For example, everyone within the government was a person who had their own unique pasts and already determined paths, and ruling over his Empire with an iron fist would only cause more nuance than pro.
Naturally, Nerva had only recently ascended the throne after initiating a coup against the old regime.
As such his late father was slain by one of his many loyal knights. The cabinet war members were present who were either neutral or excessively loyal to the old throne.
"Detail more of the ranked battles," Nerva pressed
"By which do you inquire for," spoke a sky blue-haired woman with a natural expression and air-like tone,
"Adria!, it's quite fine to see you," Nerval said with a false jubilant tone "Show me the contemporary data entrailing the S - rank battles"
Nodding her head in confirmation, Adria gave a small subtle gesture with her index finger as she did this a small burst of frost essence excited from her fingertip tip essentially weaving onto the table sprawling out the information regarding and visuals of the current scene.
"We've eliminated several dozen master realm officers adversaries and two rank 3 - Enlightened"
"And our losses?"
"We are similar in that regard," Adria replied "We've lost a total of twenty master realm officers and one Rank-4, Enlightened" replied Adria in a neutral tone.
In response to the news, Nerval slightly shook his head.
The Polemian Empire had been struck quite hard.
Twenty Master realm and on Enlightened was a large force, thought damages were rectified with the Sunsones own.
"War has always been of bloodshed, there's no way around it, we can grief over our brethren but that would be meaningless,"
"Death comes with war," He spoke in the belief of such an utterance.
"Hawthorn, It's a pity your spouse passed in such an unhonorable way, it's truly was not fit for such a man of integrity to die as such," Nerval spoke with an empathetic tone.
"I am deeply grateful and much obliged," Evelyn replied with a half-hearted tone.
"Let's remember this as one of our own incompetence, our mistakes could bear negative consequences."
"So with that said, let's continue" Nerval.
"..." The room remained silent as the cabinet listened to the Emperor
Obviously, as a collective, if they disagreed with one another then they would protect their own beliefs while basing their reasoning on their own.
Several hours passed with continuous chatter and dismissal.
Eventually, the hearing came to a resolution.
Standing up in unison the emperor bellowed something a saying.
"Hail the Polemian Empire!"
Following this expression, came a chorus of voices each laced with conviction and rage.
"Hail the Polemian Empire!"
