The Extra’s Academy Survival Guide: Ed's Adventure

Chapter 8: meeting with Lucy

"Wow! What an unusual taste!" exclaimed the girl, her voice carrying the tone of a lost child. However, in reality, she was the strongest mage in the academy—someone even the headmaster had to respect.

These words belonged to Lucy Maeril, an exceptional sorceress with incredible power.

Her violet eyes sparkled with joy as she savored the taste of the dried meat prepared by Ed. Her long silver hair cascaded down her back, gently swaying with every movement. Atop her head sat a witch's hat, adding an extra layer of mystery to her appearance.

Ed watched in surprise as Lucy devoured just a single piece of meat with the enthusiasm of someone tasting the finest delicacy. A thought flashed through his mind: So this is who I worked so hard for… But almost immediately, another realization struck him: Wait! What is Lucy even doing here?

After some thinking, he concluded that it must have been because of his camp. Situated deep in the forest, it was the perfect secluded spot, which could easily attract the attention of someone like Lucy.

When she finished the first piece, her eyes suddenly locked onto the bag Ed was holding in his other hand. Although it was securely closed, she seemed to sense what was inside. Reaching out her hand and looking at him expectantly, she asked, "Can I have more?"

Ed, slightly confused, simply handed her the bag, realizing that refusing her would be pointless. Lucy instantly grabbed it and disappeared into his tent.

"Hey! That's my camp!" he protested, but his words fell on deaf ears.

Some time passed, and Ed found himself thinking about the strange sensation he had felt earlier—like someone had been watching him. Remembering this, he approached his tent, peeked inside, and asked, "Was it you who was spying on me yesterday?"

Lucy, still munching on the dried meat, casually replied, "Yes, I was one of those who watched you."

Ed was even more surprised. One of those? That meant Lucy wasn't alone. But then… who else had been with her? Spirits, maybe?

"You caught my interest…" she suddenly said, narrowing her eyes slightly. "Because of the magic that surrounded you that day. So I followed you to confirm something."

Having said that, she once again focused on her meal, clearly preferring to enjoy the food rather than continue the conversation.

Ed sighed. Her indifference to the conversation stung a little, but he decided not to dwell on it. After all, he had plenty of other things to do—tasks he had already planned for setting up his camp.

He returned to the forest and started gathering wood. At first, he used the axe he had brought with him, carefully selecting trees that were strong enough for building a shelter. He also collected firewood that would burn for a long time, ensuring his campfire would last. It was hard work, but he didn't complain. The feeling that he had been doing this for a long time never left him, and the fatigue was starting to build up.

After chopping down several trees, he faced a new challenge—transporting the logs back to camp. It took him a lot of time and effort.

When he finally returned, he noticed that Lucy was no longer inside the tent. However, as he looked around, he spotted her sleeping peacefully by the fire, having made herself comfortable in a spot that had clearly been prepared in advance.

Carefully stacking the logs to the side, Ed added a few more pieces of wood to the fire to keep it going longer. Then, he took out a pot he had bought at the market and filled it with water. He needed a good meal to regain his strength. Along with that, he gathered some wild plants from the forest, hoping they would pair well with the soup he planned to make.

But before that, he decided to cook the deer tongue he had recently acquired.

After cleaning it of unnecessary parts, he held it over the fire and waited. Ed knew that the idea of eating tongue might seem unappetizing to some, and to be honest, he wasn't particularly thrilled about it himself. However, he had heard that tongue meat wasn't just nutritious—it was considered a delicacy.

As it cooked, a rich, mouthwatering aroma spread through the camp, eventually waking Lucy. She slowly opened her eyes, glanced at the fire, then at the pot, and suddenly jumped up, asking eagerly, "What are you cooking?"

At that moment, Ed had a sudden idea—one that might just help him get rid of Lucy. With a mysterious smile, he said, "Just wait a few minutes, and you'll see."

Though suspicious, Lucy decided to wait.

A few minutes later, the cooked tongue emerged from the pot. When Lucy saw it, her face twisted in horror. She quickly glanced at Ed, who, with a satisfied grin, held it out toward her and said, "It's delicious! I'll even share half with you."

Lucy grabbed her mouth with both hands and frantically shook her head, stepping back. Her wide eyes and expression screamed, No! Absolutely not!

And when Ed took a step closer, still holding the "delicacy," she had finally had enough. Chanting a quick incantation, she shot up into the sky as if fleeing from her worst nightmare.

Ed watched the scene unfold with amusement before taking a slow, satisfied bite of the tongue.

"Hmm… It really is delicious!" he mused.

From the author:

Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I was sick for about two weeks, and it became hard to think clearly. After I started writing less frequently, I ran into another problem—laziness. I kept putting it off. I apologize for that.

Also, I want to let you know that I won't be releasing chapters daily anymore but rather every two days. Of course, there may be exceptions sometimes, but for the next two or three weeks, I'll be focusing on my new job to save up for a new computer.

That said, until Sunday, I'll do my best to post daily. On Sunday itself, I might even release 2-3 chapters.

That's all for now! See you in 24 hours!

Next chapter will be updated first on this website. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
