Chapter 10: New Abilities [Part 3]
I opened my eyes and activated [Magic Sense].
At that moment, when I had acquired the skill [Arcane Weave], my [Magic Sense] was already activated, which was probably why I could see the magic thread.
Once again, colorful discrete particles packed with energy filled the air around me.
Reaching out my arm, I targeted the glowing mana crystal that served as the room's light source.
SWOOSH!
Three fine, silvery strands shot from my fingertips, latching onto the crystal.
A violet glow surrounded the glowing crystal, a shimmering cloak of an arcane force field.
I could feel the connection, like the threads were an extension of my nerves, my will.
With the gentlest tug, I sensed how easily I could pluck the crystal from its place.
"It is like I'm using telekinesis!"
The awe sensation welling up in me made me unintentionally whisper, my eyes widened with intense anticipation.
Then—reflexively—I closed my grip.
CRACK—KRAKKA!!
The crystal groaned!
Then it buckled inward with a brittle crunch, as if crushed by invisible pressure.
Tiny glowing shards rained down, like fragments of a fallen star.
"So beautiful..."
Mesmerized by the sparkling fragments, I squeaked out instinctively.
But a split second later, when I realized the gravity of what I had just done—that I had broken something in a royal castle, my body shook with nervousness.
The awe quickly gave way to horror.
WHOOSH!
My hand shot forward within a blink.
Panic sharpened my focus!
I shot out several silvery threads, each clinging to the falling fragments.
With a tug on my fingers, the threads tautened as if stretched, halting their fall in midair.
Then, with a flourish, I anchored more threads onto the debris falling from above, weaving a floating bridge of broken glowing shards, held together not by physics, but by pure will.
For a moment, I stood rigidly in an uncomfortable position, but then I relaxed my tense body.
Now that I had calmed down, reality struck me once more.
"Crap! What was I thinking?"
Even if I wanted to test the skill, I should at least have gone to the castle training ground.
"I have no doubt that they will have."
Lousielle came to mind; she was the industrious kind who always trained to maintain her competitive edge.
Unable to relax my arms, I grinned sourly at the floating pieces of glowing crystal.
I had the impression that the pieces would loudly rain down with the smallest release.
Cautiously, I began pulling the shards together slowly.
After all the broken pieces had clung together, cloaked in a shimmering violet force field, I started directing the clumped shards to my palm.
The threads length shortened as I willed, bringing the clumped shards closer to me.
All of this felt like telekinesis; I could control, crush, and rip matter with the simple movement of my fingers.
At that moment, when I controlled all the shards, my body had moved in a quick way, making me wondered if it was due to my increased fitness.
"My physique did improve, it must be the reason"
When the single mass of fragments landed on my palm, I sat down on the bed with a thud and breathed a heavy sigh of relief.
"What should I do now?"
The thought of telling Fieral caused me to have conflicting feelings.
I had only arrived a day ago and had already begun breaking things.
They say first impressions last a long time, so I did not want her to have the wrong impression of me.
I scratched my head with the other hand frustratedly.
Held together by multiple threads and cloaked in violet glow, the clumped shards were floating gently on my palm.
KNOCK KNOCK !!!
My body shook as I heard the sound of a knock on the door.
In my panic, the clumped shards fell apart and rained down, scattering over the floor of the room.
"Shit!"
I clenched my teeth frantically, looking nervously at the worst possible outcome.
"I'm coming in."
Like a haunting lullaby, Fieral's voice made its way to my ear, causing my body to shake intensely.
'The fuck! She has a spare key?'
CLCKSH!
The door slowly opened, and a petite figure with obvious feline traits walked in carefully, carrying a tray filled with assorted food and drink.
As her eyes landed on the glowing shards scattered across the floor, her jaw dropped.
Seeing her expression, I quickly composed myself.
I stood and used [Arcane Weave] to gather the shards in one pull, gathering them all together and sweeping them to a corner of the room.
"Fieral."
"Huh!?"
As she turned to me, her jaw slowly lifted to a wide smile, and her eyes began sparkling with admiration.
"Ehh!... Master, is this part of your power?!."
I stifled a surprised grunt, blinking twice.
"Ahem!"
I cleared my throat and began speaking.
"Yes, that is correct. That is one of the skills the goddess bestowed upon me."
I grinned widely, praying inwardly that she would fall for it.
"The goddess?!"
Seeing her eyes sparkling with nothing but admiration, I realized she was indeed a scatterbrain.
'Are all demi-humans like this, or just her?:
I shook my head to clear away the anxious feeling I had been carrying.
My stomach growled loudly, changing the mood and prompting Fieral to quickly shift a table to the side of the bed and place the food tray on top.
My cheeks flushed with embarrassment, but I dismissed the feeling.
I hadn't eaten since the time I was summoned. The hunger pangs I felt now, after testing my abilities, were beginning to hit in full force.
Digging into the luxurious food, I ate until I was satisfied.
With the little that remained, Fieral packed the fragments into the tray and left.
"Ah... I feel fulfilled."
I started feeling the urge to go out for a stroll. I needed fresh air and to get familiar with the environment.
Most importantly, I needed information about this world.
"When Fieral returns, she will show me around the royal capital. Getting cooped up here is getting boring."
I thought about Fieral's personality, In a world where I still felt like an outsider, her simplicity was refreshing. Familiar, even.
"Is it because I have a cat?"
