Chapter 7: Trash Stats
Following that thought, an interface shimmered into view, detailing some information about me.
— [Rei Turner] —
MP : [10]
Level : [1]
Exp : [5%–—————100%]
Profession : Hero
Physique: [2]
Unique Skill: —[DUPLICATE]— {SSS-Tier}
[Ability Count] — 5 —
Unique Talent: [Evolver.]
[Evolution Fragments] 150
<10 Hrs 59 Mins>
My eyes immediately caught the unique talent and the ticking timer.
"I really got a goddess blessing?"
My eyes widened and a bright smile beamed on my face.
Now that I thought about it, the talent was the reason why I could evolve my E-Tier Unique Skill to SSS-Tier.
During that moment of my glorification, the notification had asked if I wanted to evolve the skill.
'So this was the real reason, the talent, a goddess blessing'
And it seemed there was still something more to it.
'When the list of Lousielle's abilities was displayed, that prompt that said it couldn't be evolved. Did that mean I could also evolve a target's ability?'
As if following my train of thought, a window floated in front of me, displaying the talent's description.
Unique Talent — [Evolver] —
[Evolve a target's ability to a higher tier to create a powerful duplicate.]
I gasped, my breath growing heavier with each passing second.
A unique talent that could evolve another ability. It was unbelievable.
With my unique skill, this was literally saying I could copy the target's ability after helping it grow.
But what did it mean to evolve the target's ability"? Did I have to train alongside them?
[By allocating evolution fragments, the Host can evolve Target's abilities to a higher tier]
[Evolution Fragments] 150
<10 Hrs 40 Mins>
'So that is what this Evolution Fragments is about...'
I checked the timer, almost twenty minutes had passed, and in the next ten hours I would get more fragments.
I grinned widely. Just imagine, evolving a skill to a powerful tier, then copying it.
Copying a Target's ability for myself seemed a bit unbecoming for a hero, but with this talent, both the target and I would benefit equally.
When I saw Lousielle's abilities in the hall, they were all classified by both rank and tier.
It seemed that within each tier, there were ranks, maybe from one to a hundred.
Increasing one's ability to a higher ranks was something that could be achieve only through many years of training.
This system was telling me I could evolve not to higher rank but tier. That was simply insane!
It was like I was giving that target a great gift.
'If I want to use the talent for a target, they better be someone worthy of it'
I smiled mischievously, someone who would feel indebted to me. All this thoughts made me feel like a real saviour of this world now.
I glanced at the ticking timer.
[Evolution Fragments] 150
<10 Hrs 30 Mins>
I might wind up working for free if I didn't make a good plan.
I could only evolve a target's skill, not the duplicate ones.
Although I would also gain from it, but getting something that would required even centuries of training wasn't small.
When humans were born into this world, they had awakened a skill of specific tier which could only be ranked up.
By increasing the skill rank from the initial rank to rank hundred, they could evolve the skill to the next tier.
Evolving a skill to the next rank would required years of training for ordinary person, months of training for a genius like Lousielle not to mention evolving it to the next tier.
The thought of this only seemed to make the talent unbelievable and insane to me.
I stifled a giggle.
'Even without meeting a goddess, I got a crazy blessing'
I went on to check my unique skill.
SSS-Tier Unique Skill — DUPLICATE —
[Copy a target's innate ability. For every ten successful duplicates, unlock the chance to activate the Fusion Effect.
Fusion Effect: Fuse duplicate abilities with a chance to gain a unique variant.]
'Innate ability? Like.... their awakened abilities?'
'hmm...So this is what it is about'
I slowly came to a realization.
The E-Tier Unique skill — IMITATE — allowed me to mimic a target's activated ability, but it had to be the same tier.
Was it because this was an SSS-Tier that there was no skill tier limitation?
From the explanation, there was a chance a duplication wouldn't be successful.
And from my ability count, I had copied five abilities from Lousielle long list of skills.
At that moment, I wished to copy all the skills, but it seemed there was no chance.
Which meant, if I could successfully copy ten abilities, I would trigger some effect.
'The Fusion Effect'
I gasped, I could fuse duplicate skills into a unique skill.
A unique skill, if my guess was correct, my E-Tier Unique skill was evolved to SSS-Tier the other time.
"Compared to duplicate skills, I could evolve the unique skill with my evolution fragments"
My breathing was becoming heavy, I could feel a sensation welling up within me, like something unbelievable had fallen to my grasps.
I checked the list of abilities I had copied.
[— Summon Black Flame Spirit —]
[— Chains Of Lightning —]
[— Blood Hex —]
[— Incapacitate —]
[— Blade Judgement —]
In order to use these skills, I would need to increase my mana reserve.
Without enough magical energy, no matter how powerful the abilities I duplicated, I wouldn't be able to activate them.
My mind wandered to how I had collapsed yesterday.
I started thinking about the ways I could increase my mana pool.
"To increase my mana pool, I'll need to earn experience points so I can level up."
I thought back to my current status—Level 1. That explained why my mana was so low.
[Mana is the magical energy that exists within all living beings and the world around them.]
[Some creatures can attune their mana to the ambient mana in their surroundings. This connection creates an attraction between their life force-infused mana and the free-flowing mana in the air.]
[By maintaining this link, they can draw in external mana to restore what they have used and gradually increase their total mana capacity over time.]
The system's explanation sparked an idea in me.
I looked up at the mana crystal that served as a light source.
According to what I had read, the crystal absorbed surrounding mana to release light energy.
By constantly repeating this action, it could produce a steady light.
"What if I could do the same, absorb mana not to produce light, but to expand my own reserve?"
I gasped.
It sounded simple but... it felt complicated.
Still, the system mentioned that some creatures could attune with ambient mana. That made it feel realistic, doable.
Just as I was thinking that, I tried to sense the mana around me.
I relaxed my body completely, attempting to attune myself with the flowing magical energy in the air.
