The Ferocious Wife of the Great Lord

Chapter 6: Chapter 6. Receiving the imperial decree.

Shen Fei Ning ignored those people, rolling her eyes, she walked while carrying Lie Pei Nan to Mrs. Lie's side who was currently still stunned and staring at her in confusion.

Shen Fei Ning hesitantly called her, "Mom?"

Madam Lie's eyelids twitched, then she remembered that she had forgotten about the bride who had entered her house and had accidentally neglected her because of the tension-filled events in the residence.

Mrs. Lie looked at the girl standing beside her at this moment who was still wearing her red wedding dress while carrying her eldest son, Lie Pei Nan.

Mrs. Lie tried hard to recognize this... Ahem... Creepy face. She couldn't recognize it at first, but after a while, she finally recognized a trace of familiarity in this creepy face.

"Fei Ning? Why... Why you?

Shouldn't it be Shen Yu Nie?" he asked in confusion.

Shen Fei Ning was about to answer when she was interrupted by two little kids who suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

The three of them looked at each other. The two boys' eyes widened. They looked at their eldest brother who was being carried by a female ghost dressed in bright red.

They then ran towards Mrs. Lie and cried in fear as they threw themselves into Mrs. Lie's arms.

Mrs. Lie, who was indeed sad and had been holding it in since Kasim Chu arrived, cried and hugged her two twins.

Everyone came back to their senses and joined in the sad tears, remembering again the fate of their master and the fate they would face.

Shen Fei Ning, "..."

He wondered in his heart, "Should I cry with them? But how can I cry?!"

He had never cried in his life!

Suddenly he stood up a little awkwardly he felt and just pulled the corner of his lips down, not the sad appearance he was showing now but more frightening!

Eunuch Chu who saw all the scenes in front of him was stunned, he forgot his duty to read the imperial decree he brought.

Coincidentally, Shen Fei Ning also looked at him. She thought, 'Isn't that the person who was about to deliver the imperial decree? Why is he standing there like a fool?!'

Then he said to Eunuch Chu, "Read."

Eunuch Chu who heard his words seemed to be drawn back to his senses.

He then coughed awkwardly and looked at Mrs. Lie and her two children who were crying, wanting to reprimand them but not daring to.

"Forget it. This family is already so pathetic!" He muttered under his breath.

He then cleared his throat and in a loud voice he read out the imperial decree.

Everyone who was crying immediately stopped their crying and fell silent.

The two children who were in Mrs. Lie's arms just realized the bodies of their father and grandfather who were already lying stiff in the middle of the crowd, they were about to jump and run towards them but fortunately Mrs. Lie managed to stop them in time and brought them both to kneel down to receive the imperial decree.

Only Shen Fei Ning was still holding Lie Pei Nan and Eunuch Chu was still standing upright among the people who were kneeling.

The view was a bit of a contrast.

Eunuch Chu ignored him and began to read the imperial decree loudly. Even the people outside the residence were listening.

There was a series of sentences that Kasim Chu said clearly and without pause.

Shen Fei Ning sharpened her hearing and frowned when she heard it. Her conclusion was rough,

"The First Prince and the former Chancellor Old Lie's residence had personally made dragon robes and planned a rebellion. All the evidence has been very convincingly presented."

"However, His Majesty the Emperor has been kind enough to remember the great service of the former Old Chancellor Lie during his lifetime to serve the Great Xia Dynasty. The dead can be pardoned, but the living cannot escape punishment."

"The titles of Chancellor and Grand General have been revoked, all assets of the residence will be confiscated, all official positions will be revoked and returned to being commoners. Everyone in the residence is ordered to return to their hometowns. Even in the future, descendants of the family will not be allowed to enter as officials in the government."

After reading the imperial decree, Eunuch Chu took a deep breath. He sympathized with the plight of the former regent's family.

He then stepped forward to Madam Lie and handed over the imperial decree while saying, "Please accept this imperial decree."

Mrs. Lie received it with trembling hands while holding back her sobs, and with her trembling voice Mrs. Lie replied, "The sinful wife of the Lie household accepts the emperor's decree. Long live His Majesty, may he always live long!"

Eunuch Chu handed over the imperial decree.

Seeing her like this, Eunuch Chu then said, "Madam, the emperor has been generous in allowing you to hold a funeral at the residence.

After a moment of silence he continued his words, "Madam, you must be able to take care of yourself, remember there are two small children beside you who need you."

Looking around at the kneeling servants, Eunuch Chu then said while gesturing to the people behind him, "Get rid of all the people registered as slaves by the government now."

The group of servants panicked and turned pale. They then scattered to escape but were easily caught and immediately taken away by the officers brought by Eunuch Chu.

Their fears were justified, once they left the residence, they would become slaves to sinners. No noble family would want to employ them.

But their opinions were unimportant, the execution continued regardless of the sobs of the slave servants in between reading out their names.

They didn't even give the slave servants a chance to at least pack up. The officers immediately escorted them out without mercy.

Soon the front yard was empty, only a few servants who had been freed from their slave status were left kneeling on the floor.

Silence suddenly fell upon the residence of former Chancellor Tua Lie.

The gust of wind that blew very cold they felt as if it was a gust of wind like in winter. Even though it was currently summer.

The luxurious residence of former Chancellor Tua Lie becomes very ironic and looks sad.

Many of the wedding decorations were scattered underneath and trampled on.

The red silk cloth that was used as decoration on the roof of the house seemed to be a silent witness to this very sad incident.

The quiet atmosphere was suddenly interrupted by the voices of two children who spoke softly and full of sobs.

"Dad, Grandpa, wake up... The bad guys are gone.."

The two boys said as they ran towards the bodies of their father and grandfather lying stiff on the floor.

Tears kept flowing from the eyes of the two boys, and each of them pulled on the sleeves of their father and grandfather.

But no matter how hard they tried to wake up their father and grandfather, they were unsuccessful.

The two boys cried even louder, and they simultaneously turned to their mother and said with tears in their eyes, "Mother... Please wake up Father and Grandpa... it's not good to sleep on the floor..."

"Mom, Dad promised to make me a toy.."

"Mother, Grandpa has also promised me that he will take me to see Mount Heimu and teach me a lot of literature."

"Mother, Father also told me that he would teach me martial arts so that when I grow up I can be as strong as Eldest Brother..."

"Mother...."

Listening to the words spoken by the twins.. Nan Hao and Nan Huan, the people around them couldn't help but shed tears again. No exception for Mrs. Lie whose eyes and nose were now red and slightly swollen from crying too much.

Madam Lie gripped the imperial edict tightly in her hands until her knuckles turned white, saying to the remaining servants, "I apologize for causing trouble to you all. Once all the matters in the residence are resolved, you may disperse."

"Mrs..."

But Madam Lie waved her hand to stop them and turned to butler Zhao and said, "Uncle, please invite a physician to treat Pei Nan."

Uncle Zhao, "Yes, Madam." Then he left followed by the other servants who carried the bodies of former Old Chancellor Lie and General Lie Nan Gong.

Mrs. Lie then turned to her two children and said, "Nan Hao, Nan Huan, come here dear."

Nan Hao and Nan Huan ran to hug their mother.

Mrs. Lie said again, "Nan Hao, Nan Huan, father and grandfather have passed away. Would you like to accompany mother to see them off?"

These eight-year-old twins of different sexes can more or less understand what their mother says.

They both cried immediately, "Mom..."
