Chapter 51: Alright, Team, Let's Get to Work!

"Excellent, Myers! As expected of my chosen successor." kress smiled with satisfaction. She admired Myers' spirit of self-sacrifice for the country.

"Myers, when you get to the LA company, don't just sit around watching the news. You must try to win over Li Ang, by any means necessary!"

Donald Lundy glanced at Myers' refined mature charm and athletic build, then added, "If needed, you can resort to unconventional methods."

"In short, think carefully and use your wits."

"I understand."

Myers nodded. Before arriving, she had already reviewed all the resources Military Technologies could mobilize. Whether it was land, factories, or company shares, they could all serve as bargaining chips.

Elizabeth kress, noticing Donald's suggestive tone and gaze, immediately understood his innuendo. This guy dared to have designs on Myers! What a scumbag.

"Myers, if negotiations fail, don't force yourself. We have plenty of other potential partners. There's no need to cling to the LA company."

After saying this, kress gave Donald a warning glare, signaling him to drop any inappropriate thoughts. The heir of the New United States of America couldn't be demeaned.

Donald Lundy shrugged. As the hawkish CEO of Military Technologies, he believed in dedicating everything to the company—even his body, if necessary. If the LA company's executive didn't mind, Donald wouldn't hesitate to offer himself.

"Madam President, rest assured. I'll handle this efficiently." Myers spoke solemnly, seemingly unaware of the subtle exchange between the two.

"Myers, when you eventually sit in my position, you'll understand the feeling of being constrained. So you must learn to adapt. Being overly rigid will only break your path forward."

Kress spoke with a weary tone, recalling her once-vibrant younger self, now battered by countless challenges.

Rebuilding this country from its crumbling state had consumed an immense amount of energy, time, and money. kress couldn't let it all go to waste.

The New United States of America needed the support of a strong military-industrial complex. Yet Military Technologies was declining, even on the verge of collapse.

If they couldn't secure AI Soulkiller or attract investors, all their prior efforts would be in vain.

The dream of making NUSA great again would become a mere illusion. kress wouldn't allow such a thing to happen.

"You must learn to mercilessly exploit every available resource and connection. A seasoned politician must be ruthless, even duplicitous, if it's for the sake of the New United States."

kress' words, mechanical and cold, etched themselves deeply into Myers' mind. The political skills she learned from kress included these basic tenets.

"Understood, Madam President. I'll remember."

Seeing Myers' unwavering determination, kress smiled and nodded in relief. "Good girl. Go now. The people from the LA company are about to arrive."

"Take care, Madam President!"

After squeezing kress' frail, veined hand, Myers stood up and followed Donald out of the room.

Outside the company's headquarters, the latest LA company air car model, the Rayfield Excalibur, cruised through the cloudy skies before slowly descending onto the spacious rooftop helipad.

Donald Lundy's expression grew complex as envy and resentment flickered in his eyes. Myers, meanwhile, was stunned by the sight.

No wonder Trauma Team had canceled its air car rental contract with Military Technologies. The LA company's vehicles were at least fifty years ahead of theirs!

"Myers, now you understand the pressure the President faces, right? She has to deal with countless factions daily—some she must win over and flatter, others she has to crush ruthlessly."

Hands in his pockets, Donald gazed intently at the air car in the distance, his sharp eyes like a hawk.

"Right now, the LA company is our most important ally—possibly the only one. You must find a way to make it a part of Military Technologies."

"Bind the LA company's interests with Military Technologies and the New United States so deeply that no one can separate them."

The strong winds on the rooftop made Rosalind Myers squint. For the future of her company and her country, she had to convince the new ruler of Watson in Night City—Li Ang.

Night City Municipal Center, Arasaka Tower

Johnny Silverhand strummed his electric guitar furiously, blasting heavy metal that could almost shatter glass through powerful amplifiers.

Under Johnny's incitement, passing rockers began hurling red smoke bombs at the guards stationed at the tower's entrance.

Chaos erupted in the plaza as the crowd clashed with the Arasaka security forces, who responded with violent suppression.

Amid the commotion, Johnny and his Alpha team slipped through the back door, taking the elevator straight to Arasaka's mainframe room.

"Johnny, I heard you're on good terms with Li Ang from the LA company. Why isn't he helping you this time?"

In the elevator, the speaker was Santiago, one of the Aldecaldo gang leaders. His pack of nomadic wolves had joined the rescue operation.

The Aldecaldos were a classic nomad family gang with numerous branches. Santiago led just one of them.

"Morgan Blackhand is the help Li Ang sent. With him around, this mission won't fail. You're just extra insurance."

Johnny Silverhand replied without turning his head. If it weren't for the awkward silence, he wouldn't have bothered talking to this sunglasses-wearing poser.

"Alright, let's stay cautious. Draw as much fire away from the Omega team as possible to buy them time to plant the bombs."

Rogue cracked her knuckles and gripped her pistol tightly. This might be the biggest job of her life—storming Arasaka's stronghold. The thought alone thrilled her.

"Let's hope Morgan Blackhand and his team don't take forever setting up those bombs." Johnny stretched his neck, ready to jump into the fight.

The Omega team included Morgan Blackhand, Saiten Tora, and elite soldiers from Military Technologies.

Like Morgan Blackhand, Saiten Tora was another legendary mercenary of Night City. His level of cybernetic enhancement rivaled Arasaka's top enforcer, Adam Smasher. A formidable force indeed.

"Alright, team, let's get to work!"
