Chapter 53: Usurping the Nest!

"For the company and His Excellency the President, I would gladly lay down my life without hesitation."

Myles' expression and tone were firm, giving Li Ang a deeper impression of her personality. She was undoubtedly a tough, ruthless character!

At the very least, Myles had the guts to risk her own life.

"Ms. Myles, I have no interest in military technology or New America. I'm only interested in profits. What benefits can you offer me?"

Li Ang had no patience for hearing her spout empty slogans about revitalizing America or making it great again—those were just lies to fool people into dying on the battlefield.

Johnny Silverhand could relate deeply to that.

Myles was visibly delighted when Li Ang proactively brought up collaboration. Her biggest worry was that Li Ang had no intention of working with Militech and was solely focused on bringing them down.

Without hesitation, Myles laid out all the chips Militech could offer: farmland, forests, mines, lakes—essentially all territorial resources under New America's control, as well as Militech's latest technological advancements.

However, Rosalind Myles kept the AI-based "Soulkiller" project a secret from Li Ang. It was Militech's ultimate trump card and the company's last hope for resurgence.

After listening to her offer, Li Ang shook his head lightly. None of those resources were the benefits he truly wanted. The so-called land resources were of little significance to LA Corp at the moment.

After all, one of LA Corp's subsidiaries, Cantao Group, was already rectifying chaos in the Far East. When that was complete, Li Ang would hold far more land resources than Militech could offer.

"Ms. Myles, I think you still don't understand the predicament Militech is in. Your weapons and equipment are already losing their competitiveness in the market," Li Ang stated bluntly.

"You're even lagging behind Arasaka!"

Li Ang didn't hold back, tearing away Militech's last shred of dignity. The company had been steadily losing its dominance in the international arms market and was no longer the titan it once was.

Within a year, Arasaka and LA Corp would be able to overtake Militech and split its market share.

After delivering his critique, Li Ang added one last jab:

"By the way, your hackers recently tried stealing data from our headquarters, only to end up frying their brains on our defense systems. You're aware of that, right?"

Myles looked embarrassed for a moment. After all, she had personally orchestrated the failed data theft operation.

Still, she adamantly refused to admit to such a disgraceful incident. With the hackers dead, Li Ang had no concrete evidence anyway.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Myles replied, her composure unshaken. Trained like a professional agent, she could lie effortlessly without batting an eye.

Li Ang didn't bother arguing further. Instead, he chuckled and said,

"You might not know about that, but you should at least be aware that your rival, Arasaka, is developing kinetic-tech pistols, right?"

"If nothing unexpected happens, Arasaka will release their first line of kinetic-tech weapons by the end of this year."

In fact, within the first week of Li Ang's kinetic-tech pistol hitting the market, Arasaka operatives had already smuggled a sample back to their R&D center.

After months of development, testing, and adjustments, Arasaka's first batch of cutting-edge weapons was nearly complete. Even if Militech started playing catch-up now, it was too late.

"Yes, I'm aware," Myles finally admitted. For once, she spoke the truth. She knew exactly how dangerous Militech's situation had become.

The rapid rise of Arasaka and LA Corp in the weapons market was eating away at Militech's market share at an alarming rate.

"I can transfer the production technology for LA Corp's kinetic-tech weapons to Militech. But in return, I want 50% of your company's shares," Li Ang said.

Seeing a flicker of worry in Myles' eyes, Li Ang knew it was time to lay his cards on the table.

"What? That's absurd!"

Rosalind Myles immediately snapped back to her senses. There was no way she would accept such an outrageous deal. No matter how dire Militech's situation was, it was still one of the world's largest corporations!

Even with numerous shareholders fleeing and investors pulling out, Militech still held control over several advanced technological projects. A comeback wasn't entirely impossible.

"I can offer you at most 20% of Militech's shares in exchange for the kinetic-tech weapons technology. That's our bottom line!"

Myles furrowed her brow, negotiating with Li Ang, who clearly had no intention of budging.

As Militech's second-in-command, Myles personally held only 10% of the company's shares. The other 10% would have to be extracted and diluted with the help of financial experts, which was already the maximum she could manage.

After all, Militech's CEO, Donald Lundy, and COO, Elizabeth Kress, were still alive. Both held 15% of the company's shares each.

Unless Donald was willing to relinquish his position as CEO and hand over his 15%, Myles had no way of meeting Li Ang's demands.

"No deal. I want 50%, and I won't settle for less," Li Ang insisted, his firm stance unshaken.

He understood the key difference between Militech and Trauma Team. Trauma Team represented the collective interests of the European Community, making its corporate landscape far more complex.

For Li Ang, as an outsider, securing even 10% of Trauma Team's shares was an extraordinary achievement.

Currently, LA Corp's shareholder status in Trauma Team surpassed that of most European countries, ranking just below the top-tier nations.

Militech, on the other hand, was tightly controlled by a small group of executives and political elites. It was a centralized corporate powerhouse.

The only way for an external party to gain control of Militech's core power structure would be through a significant shakeup—such as the death of key executives, assassinations, or a coordinated coup by the remaining shareholders to oust current management.

"Ms. Myles, I know you can only authorize up to 20% of Militech's shares for now. But the winds of change might alter that soon."

Seeing the confusion on Myles' face, Li Ang said calmly,

"Nobody knows which will come first—an accident or tomorrow."

From his vantage point, Li Ang had already deduced that Arasaka had likely acquired the 2.0 version of the AI-based Soulkiller.

With such a devastating weapon in hand, Arasaka's first move would undoubtedly be to assassinate Militech's key executives!

This would create vacant shareholder positions that LA Corp could swoop in and occupy. At that point, even if Myles was unwilling, she'd have no choice but to accept.

Without LA Corp's help, she wouldn't stand a chance at cleaning up the mess Militech was heading for.
