The God of calamity’s wife: return of the 13th

Chapter 37: 37 Luz and his agenda

As the rimac nivera made its way down the road a black shadow made its way through the trees at the same speed but just a little bit behind.

Piercing dark lavender-black eyes locked onto the vehicle, unblinking, unrelenting. The beast's reflection failed to register on the sleek car's glossy paint, as though it was nothing but a phantom. Then, without warning, a deer hurtled out of the woods—not running, but launched as if thrown by an unseen force. It smashed into the windshield with violent precision.

The car spun wildly, metal screeching as it twisted and buckled under the impact. Sirius's instincts roared to life, his beast erupting from within. Claws ripped through his boots as his feet slammed into the pavement, anchoring him. With inhuman strength, he cut her seatbelt with his claws and caught Saoirse, his arms encircling her protectively to catch her as the car folded around them like paper against a storm. The car was torn off of the couple inside of it and his claws cut the metal as if they had teleported out of the car, protecting his young and leaving them untouched on the road.

The scent of deer blood and burning rubber filled the air as he twisted to scan the treeline, searching for the one who had thrown the animal.

But the woods stood eerily still, empty of movement. No footsteps. No presence. Only the faint rustling of leaves as the storm clouds gathered above. His beast growled low in his chest, a warning to the unseen force that had dared to threaten his mate and their unborn young.

But no one appeared.

——————-

Aksel had taken a seat in the Alpha's office and spread out the papers on the table to work on the tasks Saoirse had given him, his eye swollen a little bit, but starting to heal.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw through the window a black dragon suddenly crash landing onto the driveway outside with Saoirse on his back. They both looked very upset and disheveled but thankfully unharmed. He had blacked out earlier and worried his nightmares were true of attacking them. He guessed now that he had been right, but he hadn't wanted harm to come into the unborn of his species, not yet anyway.

Sirius reverted back to his human form and was holding his head in his hands and pacing around in a circle, trying to calm himself down. His blight was growing and festering and it reached into his hair and covered his ear and half of his left cheek.

Saoirse attempted to calm him down, but it was making it worse.

Aksel came out side to see what the commotion was about.

"What happened?!" He exclaimed a bit shaken by the pain Sirius was in. "Did you guys try to make out while driving or something?" He joked, not knowing what to say.

"I crashed my car!" Sirius gasped in pain, I got hurt pretty bad, now Maeve is freaking out and I can't calm down! I hope we didn't crack the egg." He freaked out. His breathing hyperventilated.

His emotions were all over the place, "How will we get back to Loki's house?! I can't go there without my car and I don't have a way to contact Loki!"

Saoirse reached out for him but he batted her hand away unintentionally, he gasped for air in pain as she touched his hand and the blight got larger.

"Ok ok ok!" Aksel said waving his arms about, "So Saoirse can't touch him or Maeve gets jealous, ummm Sirius how would you normally calm Maeve down?"

Sirius fell to the ground and scratched at his face, trying to rip the blight off. Blood fell out of the wound and Aksel ripped his hand away.

"Don't do that man! That's gross!" Aksel exclaimed. "Think man! What does Maeve like?"

"She likes flowers." He said breathing hard. All he cared about was Saoirse. "Maeve needs to calm down!"

"Ok ok, anything more useful? She will calm if you calm man." Aksel insisted though he wasn't sure.

"Ummm she likes this Japanese show about this guy named Luan. She thinks he's cute."

Aksel scratched the back of his head. "Ok what does she like about this Luan guy? You can send her feelings right? What feelings does this Luan guy give her?"

"How should I know? I'm a guy how is this related!!!"

Saoirse piped up, "Anime boys are all dreamy and reassuring, you can send her feelings of love and comfort, like picture giving her a hug. Saving her from sadness and loneliness. Maybe she is feeling lonely right now."

Sirius focused hard and then sighed, "but I can't give her a hug, then I just get all savage and I almost end up biting her."

Aksel raised his eyebrow, "You're a real monster man."

"Shut up." Sirius snapped, "It's a bond magic thing, I can't help it, it's all messed up because I gave her some of my blood and didn't actually mate with her."

"Have you ever seen her upset? What do you do then?" Saoirse asked.

Sirius thought for a minute, "I did give her a hug once when your bond was hurting me. And it calmed her down. I just ignored how it made me feel and focused on my love for her as a person. She's a very smart, kind girl and I enjoy seeing her happy when she is meditating and caring for her plants.

She sits and talks to them and they bloom more and it's really very magical." He sat down on the ground in a meditating position and pictured Luan dark giving Maeve a hug and tried to send her his love and comfort as best as he could.

He pictured Maeve's happy plants and sent her feelings about that too. Slowly, the blight on his neck began to shrink back down again and he felt less pain.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief at this and Aksel found the opportunity to joke about it, "Well it seems like Saoirse's got fierce competition. This Maeve girl seems feisty, I like her! And she managed to beat up player boy over here, so that makes me feel better too."

Saoirse smacked him in the back of the head.

"Ouch! What was that for? I just saved your boyfriend, you should be grateful!"

"Aksel did you work on the paperwork I asked you to?" She asked.

"As a matter of fact, I did get started on it!"

Sirius interrupted them. "How am I ever going to find Maeve now? I can't distance myself from Saoirse forever! I just can't! It's not fair! What was my grandfather thinking?!"

"Loki lives in the void of Ginnungagap right?" Aksel asked. "I think I might know someone who knows how to get there."

"How would you know someone?" Saoirse asked.

Aksel looked embarrassed, "Well when I sent an assassin to kill Sirius 18 years ago, he hired this demon beast to take you out. I can give him a call and see if the demon beast will work for me again."

"What is wrong with you Aksel????!!!!" Saoirse yelled, do you even hear yourself right now???!!!! You're going to just call up the demon who killed us? Do you think we are fools???!!!!"

"You're the one who killed us?" Sirius asked suddenly.

Aksel gulped. He covered his head thinking Sirius was going to pummel him, but he just broke out into hysterical laughter.

"You actually had us killed because you wanted to take Saoirse away from me?" He laughed some more and began rolling on the ground.

"You broke my husband." Saoirse said. "Good going Aksel, why can't you just quit taking from people all of the time."

Sirius finished laughing and calmed himself down, "All of this time, I was afraid I was killed by someone that I would have to face again someday, or for something I had done that I didn't remember, but it was just because you wanted my wife!" He chuckled. Then he patted Aksel on the back. "I think it's a great idea to introduce us to this demon. I am the son of Hel I'm sure I can take him this time."

Then he got up and gave Aksel a hug. "Man, now I know what Saoirse saw in you, you're a sucker for tricks, but you have connections and you know how to reach your goals. I mean, if we were the Alpha and the Luna of your hometown and you managed to get us killed and you got away with it, man, and you ended up with my wife just like you wanted. Aksel, I think that you just gained a little bit of respect from me."

Aksel was shocked. "You mean it?"

"Yeah, Aksel you're alright."

Saoirse rolled her eyes. "He didn't get with me." She said.

"That's a real bummer about your car Sirius. It was really nice. I thought you were a good driver."

Sirius scratched the back of his head, "Yeah well, a deer jumped in front of the car and I couldn't stop and I don't like killing animals unless it's to eat them. I don't know why it's just my nature I guess. He downplayed the crash, eyeing Aksel to see if he knew anything."

"Great, now I'm friends with a vegan vampire." Aksel said shaking his head, seeming to not know anything.

Sirius folded his arms. "Ok let's talk to this beast."
