Chapter 39: 39- nice to see you cousin
As Sirius flapped his wings, Golden wind blew dusted ash like acid, igniting the lawn and surrounding area with fire.
The panther yelled in protest of their escape. He clenched his fists and his muscles forced against the thick walls of ice. His sheer force exploded the ice off of him, throwing large blocks and shards flying, putting out small fires with wet dust, contrasting Sirius' ability with fire he had never before awakened in this life but not doing enough as the burning ash hit his fur he cried out in anger before igniting himself as well, for he too was a fire beast.
Flames followed him as he ran, kicking up earth and breaking a few windows in the building behind him, the panther yelled. "Get back here you cowards!"
He shrieked in his beastly language, not bothering for saoirse to understand him as he threw glass and brick and ice— anything he could find to strike them since he could not fly. His mind was angry like a cat who couldn't reach a bird.
But Sirius was taking saoirse somewhere far away and safer.
"I have to burn, she coughed up more blood as he held her in his arms. Her body was getting hot.
Suddenly she jolted and black shards of glass shot out of her like a hedgehog shooting its quills and impaled the beast below. Her skin would heal but not thst fast, the egg was breaking apart inside of her.
"Ahhhhhh" Luz yelled below, you idiots hit me in the eyes!
"Ahhhhh" saoirse screamed in agony of birth.
"Please." She rasped. "For the babies I need…. To… burn…."
Sirius' eyes welled up with tears and he envisioned suddenly her death at his hands. He didn't know what to do.
"I cannot do that." He lamented, searching for another way.
Then he envisioned Aksel, killing saoirse over and over again, in a million ways. His eyes white with visions of the timelines each timeline ending like this, with her laboring and death.
"Saoirse make me my sword!" He exclaimed and she coughed again as she formed a bloody sword, six feet long.
Then she burst into flames.
He yelled in anger though it was more because of how quickly he had run out of time.
With her burning body in his hands, he had run out of time— but time was in his hands.
"She will not go down like this, and you will not have this victory!" He yelled, flapping his wings and suddenly he landed by Aksel and pulled at the thread of Yggdrasil above his head that only he could see.
Then he reversed time.
The sky going green as golden hour struck the realm, his power he had inherited from Loki. He pulled Aksel back to where he was before he became a beast and before attacking anyone.
Then he withdrew his zweihander from Saoirse's grasp, pointing it at Aksel still in his human form, and prepared himself to kill him.
Everyone was confused, "I knew I smelled a rat Luz." Taz growled from Sirius' clenched teeth.
Aksel raised his hands, "what is this about?!" He said in alarm. Even saoirse confused by his actions as Aksel hadn't done anything yet looked at Sirius with a questioning look. Hadn't he just said he was good now so this behavior suddenly came out of nowhere.
"You will not call your beast." Taz said.
Aksel held up his hands about to say "Ok! Ok!" But instead he smiled with Luz's intentions. "So you do remember me." His voice reverberated through the air.
Sirius jumped into the air and picked up Saoirse just before a bolt of lightning nearly hit him, his black and white hair standing on end as the creature only saoirse had seen before emerged from the body of their so-called-friend.
She had only seen the beast twice. When he killed the alpha in the first pack; and now.
"Sirius, run!" She screamed, but his eyes were white and he saw another bolt of lightning coming. He dodged again, this time not letting it hit him nor his wife.
Sweat beads formed down his neck in concentration as bolt after bolt shot at him. He dodged each one with precision but his actions slowed a little. His eyes threatened to return to red. His head began to feel light.
Luz smiled. "You cannot see the future forever, Sirius. I know that ability is limited. I will strike you and when I do, in that moment, as your blood falls, your wife will cry out—not in despair, but in the pain of bringing new life into the world. The children you swore to protect will be born into a future caused by your failure! And when you die, they will be mine!" Hahahaha!" His cackling laughter revealing his plan to steal their children away for himself. "I will be the sole owner of your race! And eventually king of the realm of Nidavelir! The king who will bring it back!Hahahahaha!"
This angered Taz. Not because of his plans to bring back the races, but because he threatened to take his kids.
Saoirse looked at him in fear and clung to Sirius tightly as he once again dodged a bolt of lightning.
"We have to fight back." She said. "We have to pray to the moon goddess."
She closed her eyes as if praying.
As she said her prayer, Luz cackled harder as if he did not fear a goddess' intervention, nor expect one.
But then suddenly a blinding light from above shot down and Luz writhed in fear as he recoiled from the light.
"Stand down deciple." The moon goddess said as she appeared.
Her blinding light engulfed him immediately and Aksel was subdued on the ground like a blight; he shrunk away, a shadow running from the sun and Aksel resumed his human form unconscious.
"Saoirse pulled Sirius to land and as he did, his wings folded into his back but not retracting, his pregnant wife prostrated as best as she could in gratitude to her diety. She hadn't expected intervention either. Sirius found it too convenient the timing that without hesitation the goddess would appear.
Eyeing the faith of his wife, Sirius cautiously attempted to use forsight but his strength was gone to use his abilities of darkness before the goddess. He found himself knealing as well as if by force. The goddess frowned at him, before smiling again as a second diety appeared.
"This is Forseti, the god of mercy and justice; and my son." She introduced him. "At his request we have come through the bifröst to answer your prayer my sweet damsel."
Forseti extended his hand to Saoirse, lifting her gently to her feet with a regal touch as delicate as a whisper.
Once she was steady, he turned to Sirius, leaning down to grasp his hand with powerful strength, raising him to his feet effortlessly with the same measured grace. His actions carried an air of calm authority and friendship. Sirius filled with light but it didn't hurt.
"Nice to see you cousin." He said to Aksel.
