Chapter 12: The Gu of Balance and the Hidden Threat
Chapter 12: The Gu of Balance and the Hidden Threat
Han Feng held the mysterious Gu chrysalis in his hands. The energy within it flowed in chaotic and harmonious patterns at the same time, like a reflection of his own Dual Chaos Larva.
However, when trying to refine it, he felt an invisible resistance. It was as if the Gu were incomplete, waiting for something to fully awaken.
This left him intrigued. If he could activate it, he could further strengthen the fusion between the two cultivation systems.
But before he could delve deeper into his analysis, a sound echoed in the cave.
"¡Crack!"
The ground trembled slightly. The threat he had felt before finally revealed itself.
The Beast Guardian of the Cave
From the deep shadows of the cave, a pair of amber eyes shone. A Mid-Level Spiritual Beast emerged from the darkness, its black fur mixed with blue spiritual markings.
It was a Mist Wolf, a rare beast that controlled the mist around it to confuse and hunt its prey.
Han Feng held his breath and immediately activated the Celestial Veil Art, erasing his presence.
The wolf growled and sniffed the air, trying to detect any intruder. However, finding nothing, it began to slowly patrol the cave.
Han Feng knew that a confrontation would attract attention and that he still couldn't show his true strength. He would need strategy.
The Right Choice
He silently retreated into the shadows, avoiding eye contact with the beast. He observed its patterns of movement and noticed something: the Nebulous Wolf seemed to be protecting Gu's chrysalis.
"So this Gu has a guardian..."
That explained why he was drowsy. Maybe he needed the beast's energy to fully awaken.
Han Feng didn't have time for a deeper study. He could try to steal the chrysalis and escape, but if the Gu needed the wolf to evolve, he would lose a valuable opportunity.
With sharp eyes, he made a bold decision.
Instead of attacking or fleeing, Han Feng waited patiently, studying the interaction between the Gu and the beast.
A Plan in the Shadows
The Nebulous Wolf growled again, but its aggression had diminished. He circled the chrysalis and, after a few minutes, lay down beside it.
Han Feng realized that the creature was not there just to protect her—there was a connection between them.
This meant that, if he wanted to dominate this Gu, he would first need to deal with the wolf intelligently.
With this in mind, Han Feng retreated further into the darkness of the cave, planning his next steps.
He wouldn't fight... yet. He would wait, study, and strike at the right moment, without drawing attention.
The game of patience had begun.
