Chapter 11: The Superpower Runs Amok
"President Shirogane, have you finished your work?"
Oh no.
This is bad.
The Ice Princess of Kaguya had unleashed her secret technique — "President, you still have many responsibilities to handle. You can't rest just yet, you know~"
It was over. Sakurai's situation was dire.
[What now? At this rate, Sakurai-chan's going to end up facing off against two girls alone! Guhaha~ One guy and two girls, how thrilling! This is getting me all excited~!]
What exactly are you fantasizing about?
This romantic-brain superpower is seriously the worst.
"Not… not yet," Shirogane admitted, sighing in defeat as he patted Sakurai's shoulder.
He looked like a soldier heading off to war.
And Sakurai… the forlorn fiancée waiting back home…
Okay, maybe not.
Sakurai stood up alongside him.
"Well, it's about time for me to head home."
He grabbed his bag and made his way to the door, pausing briefly to address Fujiwara.
"See you next week, Fujiwara-san."
"Shirogane, if anything comes up over the weekend, just call me."
"And Shinomiya-san… goodbye."
With that, Sakurai left the student council room.
…
Friday's part-time job was the usual — rental boyfriend.
The client was a regular.
The reason for booking? Simple. She needed company.
But that could wait — this mature, still-elegant woman, widowed in recent years after losing her child long ago, probably wouldn't be available until later that night.
Pushing his bike out from the rack, Sakurai made his way to the school gates.
Cycling wasn't allowed on campus.
With his bag slung over his shoulder, he glanced around.
The greenery of the school grounds looked beautiful.
It was that season where cherry blossoms had almost finished falling.
[Did you know? The speed at which cherry blossoms fall is… 5 centimeters per second~ Ehehe~]
Who told you that?
5 centimeters per second… A blossom falling from a 3-meter tree would take a minute? That doesn't follow Newton's laws.
As for whether a foreign zombie would rise from his grave to punish a superpower user who desecrated his name…
Sakurai couldn't say.
It was an amusing thought.
[Newton wouldn't rise as a zombie — he wasn't Chinese, after all.]
Then… a ghoul?
[Hmm~ Let's not worry about that right now! Paru-chan senses danger in five minutes! Let's get out of here, Sakurai-chan! Quick, activate your Blue Aerial Mode! Summon the divine light saber! Let's transform!]
…What the hell? I'm not some tokusatsu hero.
And seriously, talking to an imaginary friend inside my head… I feel like a lunatic.
[I'm a part of you, you know~? I'm the feelings you want to suppress. So, it's fine if you just think of Paru-chan as your girlfriend~ (wink)]
I already feel stupid enough talking to you. Please don't make this any worse.
Sakurai sighed, realizing he'd already lost count of how many times he'd mentally snapped today.
"Oi! You there! Stop right there!"
He hadn't even left the school district.
On a commercial street just outside campus, a group of delinquent boys blocked his path.
Passing students quickened their pace, avoiding any potential trouble.
[Sigh, Sakurai-chan, why didn't you listen to me? I said there'd be danger!]
"Ryo-ta-kun? Long time no see," Sakurai said, stopping his bike calmly.
"You made me look like a damn fool yesterday! You know what happens now, right?" The blond delinquent sneered, spitting on the ground.
"Hmm?"
Sakurai smiled — a cold, unsettling smile that made the delinquents shift uncomfortably.
In the past, he would've been terrified.
Begging for mercy.
Or at least trembling.
"What the hell are you laughing at?" Ryo-ta snapped, annoyed.
"Nothing, just thinking how poorly you guys did your homework," Sakurai replied, calmly parking his bike.
He cracked his knuckles and slipped off his school jacket.
The white shirt beneath clung to his toned, muscular frame.
"You found my usual route home, but didn't think to check if I'd actually be scared?"
[Let's just kill them all, Sakurai-chan~ (yandere face)]
Wouldn't that… cause problems?
Oh… as long as no one finds out, it's fine.
There's even a nice empty alley right here.
What a convenient place they picked.
Sakurai stepped forward slowly, as if he already knew what was coming.
He dodged a straight punch effortlessly, grabbing the blond's collar and driving his knee into the boy's stomach.
Ryo-ta collapsed like a sack of meat.
The other delinquents hesitated, glaring but not moving.
Sakurai, ignoring them, dragged the blond into the alley.
Ten minutes later…
A pile of delinquents lay crumpled on the ground, groaning faintly.
Sakurai stepped out of the alley, expressionless.
What, a superpowered guy scared of school bullying?
Please.
I'm more scared there's not enough violence in school.
He'd been suppressing his destructive urges for too long.
[I hope tomorrow's superpower lets you make people disappear~! Pray for it! Then… just kill them all! Mwahahaha!]
…
Tokyo, Shinjuku — A luxury apartment, 7th floor.
Sakurai was on his rental boyfriend job.
At the dining table.
"Sakurai-kun, why haven't you visited me in so long?"
A curvaceous woman in loungewear spoke with a gentle but accusatory tone.
[Ohoho~ This one's nice! Paru-chan likes her! Let's make her tonight's dessert~]
What are you, a perverted gangster?
"I've been busy with student council lately," Sakurai replied smoothly, offering a warm smile.
"Ah~ I'm just a lonely woman, collecting rent and living day by day… It's so boring."
Lucky.
Sakurai couldn't help but envy her a little.
The beautiful woman touched her cheek, concern etched on her fair, mature face.
"Sakurai-kun… Did you get into a fight today?"
"Huh? No way~" Sakurai played dumb, blinking innocently.
"Your face." The woman raised her index finger, pointing to her own cheek.
"Oh, it's nothing. Just paint from the club recruitment event — I accidentally got some on me after school," he lied, averting his gaze from her figure.
[Sakurai-chan~ You look so flustered right now. Face all red… hmm, just like… a man in heat.]
This is your fault!
[Using your superpowers too much causes built-up desire. But you just bottle it all up — channeling it into either sexual or destructive urges. When both reach their peak, your willpower weakens… and your desires skyrocket. That's how superpowers go berserk. Just like something out of a doujin.]
Thanks for the explanation. Not that anyone asked.
I just need to play some games when I get home.
Killing virtual enemies… focusing on fictional characters…
That always worked to reset him.
Just make it to 6 AM.
The superpower resets.
Everything goes back to normal.
"What's wrong, Sakurai-kun?"
Seeing his troubled expression, the woman set down her chopsticks and rushed to his side, pulling him into a gentle embrace.
"I'm fine," Sakurai lied, closing his eyes.
[Just take her to bed already~ Come on, she sees you as a kid, but if you asked her, she'd say yes…]
But I don't want that!
Sakurai fought back… but his eyes grew hazy.
And the world… began to blur.
