Chapter 425: You Will Live Up To Your Name
I looked at the sleeping child. I liked her very much. "So, what are your plans with her going forward, Jinx?" I asked curiously. Jinx was expecting to argue her case more like she had been going back forth with Sophia.
"Well, my job is done baby, I got her to Mother. Couldn't be in safer hands now." Jinx slapped Sophia's thigh and squeezed, smiling with her extended mouth going up past her cheeks. Sophia calmly removed Jinx's hand from her thigh before speaking.
"The child will undergo basic manipulation slowly. No poisons to speed up the progress for a few years as it could damage her growth ironically. She will live here for a short while before I find a suitable pairing of equal attractiveness to pose as a family, using Lele as the anchor to sell their ruse. Families tend to be perfect for espionage after all. People may suspect the parents, but never the youth."
I nodded my head. The situation didn't sound too bad. The cult was a large family after all, people kept the essence of who they were, they just slowly became devoted to the Outer family. I had honestly contemplated becoming a king somewhere and just unifying an entire population via bio cults. It would save Jewel a lot of pain after all, but it sounded like a real drag.
'Besides, I have no idea how to act like a king, I would need proper training and fuck that.'
"Jinx." I said flatly, she jumped in surprise and stuck out her chest. "Yes?" She replied softly. "You aren't Jinx my mate, you aren't Jinx, member of the Bio cult. You aren't a member of this family. You are the young girl that had just punched a hole through that young boy. You haven't been invited into the family by Sophia yet. Would the idea of joining this place appeal to you?"
Jinx leant forward, her elbows on her knees and her hands resting in a ball in front of her mouth. Sophia looked at the women with wide eyes. She had never seen Jinx so focused. "Hmmm." She hummed as she thought, rubbing one of her knuckles with the palm of her hand.
"I would be incredibly suspicious. I was back then as well, but honestly Apollo, it was without a doubt the best thing to ever happen to me. You know what I am like, I would 100% be dead now and would never have gotten to meet you. The cult, while we serve an entity that is going to straight up eat us when it gets round to it, is a family. I love my family and the more it grows, the happier I become. The thought of the family growing, adding a new Psionic member to the family at that, keeps my mind tempered during the long absences away while undercover."
'Hmm.' I raised my hand and made an aggressive pulling gesture to the air. A moment later, Jinx had flown across the room and was now on my lap. Jinx was disorientated for a moment and suddenly turtled into herself upon realising my face was so close to hers.
I brushed across her lower back and leaned in to whisper into her ear, causing her to shudder at every word. "Your honesty and words about our family moved me greatly, my cute girlfriend. You can sleep in my bed with me tonight. How does that sound?"
Jinx bit her lip and nodded softly before a surge of courage snuck through. "Are we gonna fuck?" I chuckled and shook my head. "No, I'm not really in the mood, long day and traveling etc, but if you wake up before me, I usually allow a wake up regime if you catch my drift..."
Jinx smiled as I allowed her to stand up. "Oh yeah baby, I understand. I will suck you dry! I guarantee it!" I then smacked Jinx on the rear. "EEP!"
"Don't go making guarantees, your last one didn't happen after all." I jested causing Jinx to simply shake her butt at me before turning to Sophia. "Mommy, I am going to go play with Keyla for a bit. That new smell on her was delicious, I want to fight her like crazy!"
Sophia sighed, her eldest children were becoming nuisances as their mutations began taking hold, especially in the last year... "Fine, but if you are going to fight, go deep underground, her new form is rather... Big, after all..."
"Aww sweet!" Jinx then quickly grabbed me by the head, jamming her tongue down my throat before pulling back before I had a chance to retaliate. "By, by Apollo. I'll be waiting in bed for you hehehe!"
After Jinx left, I turned to Lele and checked on her once more and smiled at the girl. Kids were super cute when they were asleep. Sophia was confused by my action. "Why do you smile? It is only a child after all, there is nothing special about it."
"Kids have the potential for anything dear, She could be the next Samantha after all. Super adaptive to the mutations." Sophia shook her head towards my naivety. "But before that. I have to feed it, give it clothes, a place to stay and can barely work it due to its fragile structure. They are investments for a reason, I have to put a lot of effort in for it to be worth it."
I shook my head as Sophia, keeping my gaze on Lele, a chuckle escaping my mouth. "You are just saying that because she is not ours. I am sure when you have my babies, you will live up to your name and be the most doting mother there is. Perhaps you should treat Lele as a practice run?"
'Though I doubt she would. I don't feel like Sophia does a lot of the hands-on in raising the kiddo's here. Though that being said, Ronnie turned out to be a decent chap. He said he loved his childhood here and was raised by a bunch of different women. I wonder why I am so stressed over this?'
A flash of an image flickered in my mind. An alleyway and a dumpster. 'Ah. Thanks brain. Abandonment issues, copy that. I am just projecting onto Lele then? I don't want to abandon a kid? Meh, not the worst trait I could have I guess?'
Seeing that dumpster that Jewel had kept pristine must have reawakened my thoughts on the matter, or just brought them further up. I was fine with that though. Being emotionally vulnerable while surrounded by all my loved ones was a good thing. I could always open up if it got too much.
'It's probably why I am excited about being spoiled by the one who is hiding next to the door.' I chuckled before turning up to Sophia who was staring at me, her eyes threatening to fall out of her sockets.
"Sophia? Are you ok?" My words seemed to snap her to, her eyes gaining clarity. "Yes my sweet, perfectly fine. I should take this child to a proper bed. Don't want her hurting her neck sleeping there do we?"
Before I had a chance to respond, Sophia stood up and picked up Lele, supporting the girl's weight onto her body, unlike earlier where she just dangled the girl down. "I'll let the Hyllus' have a little time with you ok? Then I will be back." She then left the room with Lele.
As I began narrowing my eyes, wondering what got into Sophia all of a sudden, the door was once more full as Valerica looked at me hungrily. "Apollo. Are you finished? Can I dote on my Only child now?"
"*AHEM*" Kathrine cleared her throat angrily, causing Valerica to frown as she looked at Kathrine. There was a stare off a moment, confusion vs anger before clarity became apparent on Valerica's face.
"Oh! Can I dote on my only Son now?" I smiled at Valerica, her words striking me right in my exposed feelings. "Oh come here gorgeous, give me a hug." I said with a radiant smile as I stood up and opened my arms wide.
I felt a powerful force hit me and wrapped her arms around me, squeezing tightly. Valerica loved that Apollo could take all of her love by allowing the squeezes. Usually she would be stopped by now so she continued to dote.
"Oh, my baby. My sweet boy, my saviour, my one and only Child! Your Mommy missed you very much. Did you miss me? Oh you look so much healthier, I am so glad you are ok. Here let me get a proper look at you, the runt distracted me...Earlier...
Valerica looked UP at me, confusion written all over her face. "Did you get taller?" Valerica checked my shoes, her grandbaby had a tendency to wear thick soles to boost his height a little bit, but Apollo was wearing flat shoes.
Valerica broke away from me, a tear running down her cheek. "To think, it feels like mere months ago I was still looking down at your adorable little face, now look at you. Bigger than Mommy, I am so proud of you!"
Kathrine couldn't take what she was witnessing anymore and burst out.
"Because that was only months ago, you old bat!"
