the next day.
In the morning, Kirk opened his eyes from the bed in the Xingchen Building apartment, lifted the quilt, took off his pajamas, and walked towards the bathroom of the room.
He doesn't need to sleep, but that doesn't mean he won't.
after awhile.
Kirk walked out of the bathroom while rubbing his somewhat wet hair with a towel, and walked towards the buzzing mobile phone on the bedside table.
"Hey."
"Kirk."
George's voice came from inside after the phone was connected.
"Where are you."
"Just woke up, at home."
"Come to Army Pier."
"Army Pier?"
Kirk raised his eyebrows, asking the question knowingly.
Putting on his coat, George grabbed the car keys and walked downstairs to his house and said, "Yes, Army Pier, there are clues to the lizard monster. Do you know where the Army Pier is?"
Kirk said, "No idea, but I can navigate."
George opened the door, got in, and started the car.
"Very well then, see you at Army Pier."
"See you at the pier."
Kirk put down the phone, then walked into the cloakroom that was also connected to the master bedroom, opened the door of the closet, and took out one of the dozen or so suits hanging inside.
Of the suits in the closet, only a few were put in by Kirk last night. As for the others, they were hung up by Alice who came over to lay the sheets in the past few days.
10 minute later.
Putting on a new suit, Kirk drove the burgundy T20 sports car out of the underground garage.
Kirk looked at the traffic that started to congest after coming out, opened the driver's window directly, then reached out and took out a rechargeable police light from the back seat and pressed it to the roof with one hand.
While the police lights were flickering, they began to yell.
next second.
Kirk kicked the gas pedal, and he rode away in an instant!
When Kirk drove into the army terminal and parked the vehicle outside the cordon that had been pulled up, an ordinary Ford also slowly parked aside.
George got off the Ford car, looked at Kirk who was still ahead of him and frowned, and asked, "Isn't the Star Building on Fifth Avenue?"
Kirk nodded: "Yes, what's wrong?"
George frowned and said, "Then why did you come here so fast?"
Kirk smiled, closed the car door, and looked at George: "I'll drive a little faster."
George looked seriously disbelieving.
"Just a little?"
"of course."
Kirk nodded without hesitation, then pointed to Gwen who got off the taxi not far away and said, "If you don't believe me, you can ask Gwen, I just drive a little faster."
Gwen, who just got out of the car and paid the fare, turned around and heard this sentence, instantly remembered the moment of death she felt in the car last night. Looking at Kirk, she gritted her teeth and said, "Yes, I can testify that Kirk just drove a little faster."
Kirk smiled and spread his hands towards George: "Look, I have witnesses!"
George shook his head speechlessly, even he could tell that his daughter was talking ironically.
However, he didn't dwell on Kirk's speed. After simply reminding Kirk to control his speed a little, he took the lead in walking towards the inside of the cordon.
Kirk and Gwen followed closely behind.
Gwen, who was walking with Kirk, looked at George in front, glanced at Kirk next to him, and lowered her voice: "What did you do?"
Kirk looked at Gwen with a smile on his face. Instead of answering the question directly, he said, "Do you know where the blood donation center has a better reputation?"
Gwen was slightly taken aback.
"You killed Peter?"
"Ha ha."
Kirk chuckled, but said nothing.
In an abandoned warehouse.
When Kirk walked in, the first thing he saw was Dr. Morgan who had arrived at the scene ahead of them, and had already conducted a preliminary examination on the corpse lying on the floor as if its stomach had been ripped open by a wild beast.
George walked over and said hello.
"Henry!"
"George."
Forensic Morgan looked up, then got up, and took off the gloves on his hands.
"The time of death was probably between [-]:[-] and [-]:[-] last night. The cause of death..." Morgan paused when he said this, and looked at the corpse on the floor that seemed to have been disembowelled by a wild beast: "It is clear at a glance, but the blood content of this corpse is very small, as if someone drained it dry with something. As for whether it was before death or after death, I need to go back to the office to confirm."
George nodded.
Esposito walked over, grabbing a notepad.
"The control center has confirmed that the call to the police came in at 45:[-] last night. After the control center contacted the security at the Army Pier to no avail last night, it dispatched two police cars, which arrived here at [-]:[-], and then found this place."
"The identity of the police officer?"
"The driver of Otto Industries, when he was driving a truck passing by here last night, he heard something similar to an explosion inside, so he chose to call the police, and then continued driving after calling the police. Now he is almost driving out of New Jersey."
"correct."
Esposito said this, looked at George, pointed to the outside of the warehouse and said, "Ryan also found green blood on the floor about 50 meters away from here."
George nodded and pointed outside: "Go."
talking.
George took the lead again and walked towards the outside of the warehouse.
Kirk followed suit.
Gwen saw Kirk who turned and walked outside, glanced at the pale body on the floor, as if all the blood had been drawn out, and after regaining consciousness, he quickly caught up with Kirk.
"Did that kill Peter?"
"Ah."
Kirk hummed softly, then looked at Gwen, and also lowered his voice to ensure that George and the others walking in front would not hear, and leaned closer to Gwen's ear: "Now do you still think Peter is pardonable?"
Gwen looked sideways at Kirk, and just as she was about to speak, a cough suddenly came from the front.
Kirk and Gwen looked over their shoulders.
Just walking ahead, he seemed to remember something. George, who was just about to turn around to talk to his daughter, frowned when he saw his daughter and the new police detective who were just behind the scene without hiding anything and whispering directly at the scene of the crime.
George looked at the two men who looked back at him.
"This is a crime scene, be serious."
"clear."
Kirk was kind and nodded with a serious expression.
Gwen opened her mouth, intending to say something, but finally nodded and said she understood.
next second.
Gwen couldn't help but cast a big blank stare at Kirk next to her.
It's all your fault.
Kirk felt the resentment conveyed by Gwen, tilted his head and looked at Gwen with a question mark on his face.
Blame me for what I did.
You obviously brought up this topic.
Gwen made a gesture to turn over again.
George coughed again, his face darkened, and he looked at his daughter: "Come beside me."
Gwen: "..."
