Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Innate Animagus, Dumbledore’s Confirmation
James and Lily finished their discussion.
They immediately wrote a letter and sent it to Dumbledore via owl.
Given the current situation, it wasn't safe for them to move around freely.
The Death Eaters' influence was growing stronger.
Dark wizards had already infiltrated the Ministry of Magic.
For those resisting Voldemort, the danger was increasing by the day.
"Dear, if anything happens before Albus replies, you must tell me."
James nervously held Lily's hands, reminding her seriously.
Though he was excited, he couldn't help but worry about Lily's condition.
If given a choice, he would rather have an ordinary, safe, and healthy child.
"I will. Our child will definitely be strong and healthy."
Lily responded with confidence.
She had a feeling
Their child was special.
A mother's intuition was rarely wrong.
Some time later
A figure suddenly appeared in front of James' house.
The person wore long robes, had a full head of white hair, and looked somewhat weary.
However, his posture remained upright and dignified.
It was none other than Albus Dumbledore,
The most powerful wizard at Hogwarts.
"Knock, knock!"
A soft rapping on the door.
"Oh, it seems I've come at an inconvenient time."
Dumbledore muttered to himself.
Suddenly
A stag flashed past.
The stag's form then shifted and slowly transformed into a man
James Potter.
"Headmaster, please forgive my caution."
James smiled apologetically.
"Understandable, James."
Dumbledore chuckled and followed him into the house.
[You have sensed the Animagus transformation and awakened the Innate Animagus trait.]
Lin Li had just gained consciousness not long ago.
He immediately sensed a surge of magic nearby.
It turned out to be his father transforming.
[Innate Animagus: Unlike regular Animagi, an Innate Animagus can break past natural limitations and transform into magical creatures.]
Lin Li focused his thoughts.
Indeed
As far as he remembered, Animagi could only turn into non-magical animals.
For example, Professor McGonagall became a cat.
Sirius Black became a dog.
And so on.
But no one had ever transformed into a magical creature.
His Innate Animagus ability seemed to completely bypass that restriction.
What kind of creature would he become?
Lin Li felt a surge of anticipation.
However, as he had yet to be born, he couldn't use the transformation just yet.
"Oh, James. After hearing everything, I must say, your theory is not without merit."
Dumbledore pondered for a long time after listening to James and Lily.
Then, he slowly pulled out a crystal ball.
"Lily, place your hand on the crystal ball."
Dumbledore said softly.
Lily did as instructed.
Suddenly
The crystal ball emitted a misty glow.
Then, magic surged through it.
The initially transparent crystal gradually changed colors.
First, it turned blue.
Then, it shifted into a deep red.
Dumbledore's expression began to change.
When it turned blue, he let out a surprised hum.
Then, he smiled at the Potter couple.
Seeing Dumbledore's smile, James and Lily felt a bit relieved.
They didn't know what the colors meant,
But as long as Dumbledore wasn't alarmed, things shouldn't be too bad.
However
Their expressions soon darkened.
Especially Dumbledore's.
The red in the crystal ball grew deeper and deeper.
Finally, it stopped changing.
Dumbledore exhaled deeply and looked at Lily with a peculiar expression.
"Headmaster Dumbledore, is something wrong?"
James asked nervously.
"James, this is most unusual."
Dumbledore put away the crystal ball.
"You see, this crystal ball is designed to measure an unborn child's magical talent."
"It evaluates various aspects."
"Such as their innate magical reserves."
"Their sensitivity to magic."
"The magical feedback they give to the crystal ball, and so on."
James and Lily nodded.
"When the ball turned blue, I was already prepared to congratulate you."
"Up until now, I've never seen the ball turn blue before."
"Blue indicates that this child will have remarkable magical potential."
"To put it simply, when I was tested, my result was blue."
Hearing this,
James and Lily's faces lit up with joy.
A talent on par with Dumbledore?
So their recent suspicions were correct.
If their child truly had the same level of talent as Dumbledore
Then the potential was unimaginable.
"But then it turned red, which truly surprised me."
Dumbledore continued, adjusting his small glasses.
"If it turns red, it likely means that the crystal ball is incapable of measuring your child's potential. In other words, your child's talent has exceeded the crystal ball's testing range."
"However, as far as I know, this has never happened in history, which is why I find it so puzzling."
Indeed
For even Dumbledore's crystal ball to fail to measure the child's potential was practically unheard of.
After all, Dumbledore's magical artifacts were far from ordinary.
"But you don't need to worry too much. Just focus on a safe delivery. I can sense that this child is full of life."
"It's quite possible that the crystal ball is simply malfunctioning. I haven't used it in a very long time, after all."
Dumbledore spoke slowly.
However, his gaze briefly flickered toward Lily's stomach.
Lin Li immediately felt as if an unknown force was watching him
An unsettling sensation.
He instinctively channeled his own magic, forming an invisible barrier around himself.
"Hmm?"
Dumbledore sensed his gaze being blocked and let out a surprised hum.
Remarkable.
This child was truly remarkable.
To think that an unborn baby could disrupt his magical observation
Even though he had only used a small amount of magic, the fact that the child could resist it at all was astonishing.
"Lily, I believe I may have been mistaken."
Dumbledore suddenly spoke again.
"Your child may indeed be beyond the crystal ball's ability to measure."
