Chapter 62: Chapter 62: The Sect Leader's "Seclusion"
Chan Li sat on his throne, staring at the disciples bustling about the Heavenly Mystical Sect. His eyes dulled with boredom as he sighed deeply. "I've trained them well. Too well. Now they don't even need me."
He tapped his fingers on the armrest and suddenly stood up. "It's time for me to enter seclusion!"
Gasps echoed through the hall as the disciples halted in their tracks.
"Seclusion?! But Sect Master, we still need your guidance!" Lin Xue protested.
Chan Li dramatically raised his hand, silencing the murmurs. "This is something I must do! Do not disturb me until I emerge stronger than ever!"
The disciples bowed respectfully, their expressions solemn.
"Sect Leader is going into deep enlightenment!" Jiang Hao whispered in awe.
In reality, Chan Li had no intention of actually cultivating. He had simply grown tired of overseeing the sect's daily affairs and wanted an excuse to sneak away and explore another realm.
The Grand Escape
Under the cover of night, Chan Li disguised himself in a plain robe, suppressing his immense aura. He sneaked past the guards, nearly bursting into laughter at how serious they took his fake seclusion.
"This is too easy," he muttered, slipping past a disciple snoring at his post.
However, his great escape was cut short when a sleepy Lin Xue suddenly mumbled, "Sect Master, why are you"
With lightning-fast reflexes, Chan Li tapped her forehead, sending her into a peaceful slumber. "Shhh… you saw nothing."
Once free from the sect, he activated a secret teleportation array and vanished into the void.
Arrival in the Phoenix Realm
Chan Li found himself standing in a vibrant world filled with floating islands and rivers of fire. He smirked, excitement bubbling within him. "Finally, some adventure!"
Just as he was about to explore, a loud screech echoed through the skies. A fiery bird twice the size of a house soared above him, its gaze locked onto him with suspicion.
"A human? Here?!" the bird bellowed.
Chan Li quickly donned an innocent expression. "Ah, yes! I'm just a humble traveler passing by. Definitely not here to steal treasures or anything."
The phoenix narrowed its eyes. "You reek of deception."
"How rude!" Chan Li clutched his chest as if wounded. "I'm just a scholar of the Dao, seeking knowledge!"
Before he could say more, a group of phoenix-clan warriors appeared, surrounding him.
"Seize him!" one of them commanded.
Chan Li sighed dramatically. "Why does this always happen to me?"
The Grand Chase
With a burst of movement, Chan Li dodged their attacks, leaping through the fiery terrain with ease.
"You can't catch me!" he taunted, evading a giant fireball by inches.
The phoenix warriors, enraged, summoned an enormous flame cage to trap him.
"Time for Plan B!" Chan Li declared, pulling out a random talisman from his robe. He had no idea what it did, but at this point, anything was better than getting roasted.
With a flick, he activated the talisman. A bright light flashed and suddenly, he was gone, leaving the bewildered phoenix warriors staring at an empty spot.
Back at the Sect
After a week of misadventures in the Phoenix Realm, Chan Li finally returned, appearing in his secluded meditation chamber. He stepped out, stretching dramatically.
"Ah, what a productive seclusion! I have achieved great enlightenment!"
His disciples, who had been waiting outside, immediately bowed. "Sect Master, we knew you would return even stronger!"
Chan Li coughed, stroking his chin. "Of course, of course. Now, let's continue cultivating!"
As his disciples cheered, Chan Li internally sighed in relief. "Next time, I need a better cover story."
