Chapter 041: Three Questions for the Soul
Lin Hao watched them denounce Luo Zhijun and chimed in, "Yeah, sleeping with such a filthy woman. He's not even afraid of catching a disease or something."
"Su Muchen, once Luo Zhijun is released, take him for a check-up. If he really caught something, I won't let him into this house," Peng Yunyan instructed Su Muchen loudly.
"Mom, Zhijun isn't that kind of person; he won't get a disease," Su Muchen said awkwardly.
"Already paid, and still not that kind of person? Just take him for a check-up. If he infects you, let's see if you can still talk tough!" Peng Yunyan said angrily.
"Aunt Peng is right. It's indeed necessary to check. Infecting others would be bad," Lin Hao quickly agreed, glancing at Su Muchen.
Su Muchen knew exactly what he meant—he didn't want to be infected, especially since this bastard had been with him several times last night. If there was a disease, this guy wouldn't escape.
"Got it," Su Muchen replied, full of depression, having no choice but to agree.
After Lin Hao quickly finished his meal, he slowly headed upstairs.
The third floor was the room of Su Dingfang and his wife. He rarely went up there, and even if he did, it was mostly to the third floor's tea room to drink tea and chat with his father-in-law.
This tea room was very quiet and specifically equipped with double-layer soundproofing, a place where his father-in-law talked confidentially with others.
Lin Hao lightly pushed the door open and walked inside, a fifty-square-meter large room. Besides the big bed, there were a walk-in closet, an en-suite bathroom, and various yellow rosewood furniture like a sofa and wardrobe, giving it a very luxurious feel.
His father-in-law lay on the bed with his eyes closed, obviously still asleep, but his complexion seemed normal, so the problems weren't considerable.
"Lin Hao, you're here," his father-in-law suddenly opened his eyes.
"Dad, how are you feeling now?" Lin Hao quickly stepped forward.
"It's the old problem. After taking medicine, I'm feeling much better," Su Dingfang struggled to sit up.
"That's good," Lin Hao quickly helped him sit up.
"How's Luo Zhijun?" Su Dingfang asked.
"I asked Secretary Li. Brother-in-law was just caught for attempted solicitation. The city commission's plan is to investigate for a few more days. If no new issues arise, they'll definitely release him, though he'll likely face some token party disciplinary action," Lin Hao reported in detail.
"The rascal really tried to solicit? Does Muchen know?" Su Dingfang was a bit angry.
"I've spoken about it to elder sister. She didn't say much," Lin Hao replied honestly.
"Men fooling around outside is quite normal, but if they don't clean up properly and cause trouble, that's not good. You should learn from this!" Su Dingfang warned.
"Dad, I wouldn't dare solicit. Even if several bureau chiefs invite me for foot massages, I wash up and leave," Lin Hao replied with a bitter face.
"Although this incident with Luo Zhijun isn't major, it'll be hard for him to get promoted during future reviews by the organization department unless..." Su Dingfang trailed off.
"Dad, isn't it unlikely that such a minor issue would be so serious?" Lin Hao asked in confusion.
"Minor issue? Being subpoenaed by the city commission is minor? Is solicitation minor? You know our party pays close attention to the lifestyle of cadres. Soliciting is treated the same as keeping a mistress," Su Dingfang lamented slightly.
Lin Hao thought quickly and tentatively suggested, "Isn't brother-in-law on good terms with Four Seas Group? With their strength, they should be able to help him climb higher."
"Your brother-in-law has ties with Four Seas Group?" Su Dingfang's face turned a bit grim.
"I once saw him dining with people from Four Seas Group," Lin Hao made up on the spot.
"Just a meal probably doesn't equate to collusion. Four Seas Group, as the largest local enterprise, has deep backgrounds and good relations with various government departments. But with Secretary Zhang's affair, they might not be entirely unrelated. Since you were kept by Secretary Zhang, be careful of them," Su Dingfang warned.
"Dad, do you mean Four Seas Group wants to topple Secretary Zhang?" Lin Hao probed.
"That's just speculation. After all, the vice president of Four Seas Group made an official report with his real name, which is no joke. Secretary Zhang is unlikely to make a comeback," Su Dingfang said in a deep voice.
"So, are we enemies or friends with Four Seas Group? Why did they keep me on? Was it to save face with you?" Lin Hao asked three rapid-fire questions.
"We aren't enemies or friends with Four Seas Group. Their background is deep, and there's no conflict with our Su Family; otherwise, you'd have been dealt with long ago. As for why they kept you? Maybe you don't have any weaknesses they can exploit," Su Dingfang speculated.
If Four Seas Group isn't their enemy, then why set him up with Li Jingyi?
Is this incident a solo act by Luo Zhijun, or under someone's orders, or is he just a part of it?
Lin Hao suddenly felt a headache, deciding to investigate privately. However, one thing was clear: Luo Zhijun definitely wanted to take him down.
Having identified him as an enemy, Lin Hao wouldn't just sit and wait to be attacked.
Initially, Su Dingfang thought that after Zhang Jianming's downfall, Lin Hao would likely be suppressed and his future dim.
To protect his daughter and family, he encouraged Peng Yunyan and Su Muchen to push Su Muyun for a divorce, turning a blind eye.
To his surprise, Lin Hao hadn't fallen but instead became the County Party Committee Office Director.
This position might not seem high, yet it's someone everyone respects.
Of course, Su Dingfang, being cunning, gave Lin Hao a month's time, saying it was to alleviate relations with Su Muyun because he wanted to see if Lin Hao remains in the director position in a month. Ch.a$p-t.er pro.vided via M|.V|L#@@EMP!YR.$
If Lin Hao was ousted, he would agree to the divorce; if not, he would oppose it.
"Lin Hao, how are you and Secretary Li? Why did he promote you to Office Director?" Su Dingfang tested the waters.
"Dad, you're not suspecting anything between me and Secretary Li, are you?" Lin Hao retorted.
"How could that be? Secretary Li just arrived and doesn't know you well, so those rumors must be deliberately spread by someone," Su Dingfang gave a forced smile.
At this moment, Peng Yunyan unexpectedly pushed open the door and entered, glancing coldly at Lin Hao.
"Dad, take care," Lin Hao seized the opportunity to stand and bid farewell, turning to leave.
In the room downstairs, Su Muyun had just finished her bath and stepped out, wearing a thin white nightgown, rubbing her wet locks.
Perhaps because she was at home and had just bathed, Su Muyun wasn't wearing anything underneath, leaving the inside empty, her two towering peaks quite alluring.
Especially those two prominent little cherries, silently tempting, causing Lin Hao to swallow hard.
