Chapter 14: Operation Rewrite: Hack the World
> [TIME REMAINING: 143:02:19]
[WORLD INTEGRITY: 56%]
---
Scene 1 – Vija Magical Academy, Nightfall
Jay stood before the sealed academy gate—bags under his eyes, robes slightly burned from the Legacy Core fusion, and a long scroll floating beside him.
Cipher adjusted his hood. "The Forbidden Lab is beyond the Wraithvale Mountains. Half of it's in another dimension. We'll need to pass through a code fracture."
Jay blinked. "Translation?"
"Portal is unstable, deadly, and only opens once every seven years."
Jay sighed. "Cool. I love field trips."
---
Scene 2 – Alicia's Mission
Meanwhile, Alicia marched into the Grand Assembly Hall.
The Council of Nobles, draped in archaic robes and arrogance, sat at the top of marble steps. Their leader, Marquis Vellian, sneered.
"You bring us rumors of world collapse and a boy with a lazy reputation. What proof do you offer, Princess?"
Alicia threw down a recorded projection: Jay's body twitching, light pouring from his core, screaming as reality bent.
"Your 'proof' just bought us time. You can stand aside or get buried."
Whispers broke out among the nobles.
Marquis Vellian narrowed his eyes.
"…Then we propose a test. If he is worth protecting, prove his value publicly. We demand a Duel of Sovereignty."
Alicia clenched her fist. "Against whom?"
A figure stepped forward—tall, golden-haired, and arrogant.
Prince Targan, heir of the rival Kingdom of Solstice.
"He'll fight me. At dawn."
---
Scene 3 – Jay and Cipher En Route
They stood before a crumbling cave covered in glitching runes.
Jay's system pinged.
> [LOCATION VERIFIED: Site-Ω — The First Reboot Lab]
[Danger Level: Unstable | Threat Rating: ???]
Inside the ruins, eerie lights flickered. Old system nodes lined the walls—some shattered, some alive.
Cipher whispered, "This is where the original recursion model was tested. They created hundreds of system users… and erased them when they failed."
Jay walked past a row of charred names.
Z-34
Z-67
Z-98
Z-99 — active
"Why me?" Jay asked.
"Because you never followed orders," Cipher said. "Even the system couldn't predict laziness."
---
Scene 4 – Academy Courtyard, Midnight
Back at the academy, Alicia stood outside, sword in hand, preparing for the duel.
Suddenly, footsteps echoed.
A figure approached—identical uniform, same hair, same sleepy eyes.
"Jay?" Alicia asked, confused.
Then the HUD lit up red.
> [CLONE Z-97 DETECTED]
[System Status: Rogue]
The clone smiled.
"…Not quite."
It lunged at her.
Steel clashed with steel. Sparks flew.
---
Scene 5 – Lab Interior
Jay and Cipher reached the core terminal. Floating above it: a glowing black orb—the Root Code Seed.
Jay's HUD blinked.
> [System Rewrite Available]
[WARNING: Requires Anchor]
Jay hesitated. "An anchor?"
Cipher nodded grimly. "Something... or someone that keeps you grounded. Otherwise, you'll overwrite yourself in the process."
Jay thought of Alicia.
"…She's fighting alone, isn't she?"
---
Final Scene – Two Battles Begin
Jay steps forward and touches the seed. His eyes glow white.
Alicia parries the clone's blade, but it's mimicking Jay's skills perfectly.
Cipher begins chanting. "Stabilize the rewrite!"
> [Operation Rewrite Initiated]
[Anchor: Alicia V. Astria Confirmed]
Suddenly, the real Jay's voice echoed in Alicia's mind—calm, steady, determined.
> "Hold on. I'll overwrite the future… if you hold the present."
She smiled mid-swing.
"Deal."
