The Lazy Genius With 999x System

Chapter 22: Team Formation & Forbidden Tea

> Somewhere deep within Vija Magical Academy...

A forgotten door unlocked itself.

Beyond it, a round table awaited—empty, save for a steaming teacup that hadn't cooled in years.

Scene 1 – A Letter Under His Pillow

Jay was asleep. Again.

Despite the royal announcement, the threats, and the global tournament looming in 48 hours, he remained in his dorm bed, curled like a cat.

That is, until—

POOF.

A glowing envelope dropped onto his face.

He blinked one eye open. "Mail again...?"

Scrawled in elegant ink:

> To the One Who Broke The System Without Trying.

Invitation: Hidden Society of System-Breakers.

Come for tea. Bring no logic.

Jay blinked. Then turned the envelope over.

> On the back:

"Also, your team is about to be decided by a roulette spell unless you intervene."

"...Ah. Crap."

---

Scene 2 – The Roulette of Regret

Meanwhile, in the school's Grand Registry Chamber...

Admin Cipher stood ready. Echo beside him.

A massive arcane roulette floated in the air, shimmering with names.

> "Due to Jay Sama's refusal to submit a team..."

"...the system will randomly select three teammates."

Names began spinning.

#1: Bone Collector (expelled but technically enrolled)

#2: Professor Glimm the Pyromancer (age 83)

#3: A literal horse named Snacks

Jay stumbled into the room mid-spin.

"WAIT—WAIT—WAIT! I'll pick, I'll pick!"

Cipher folded his arms. "You're five seconds late."

Jay raised a hand.

> [Skill: Dream Command – Rewind 6.5 Seconds]

The roulette stuttered. Glitched.

Cipher blinked. "...You're cheating again."

Jay shrugged. "Efficiently."

Jay sighed and looked over the eligible student list. Most were way too eager to win. Or to kill. Or both.

He muttered, "I just need three who won't try to get me stabbed."

Candidate #1: Alicia

A princess, a prodigy, and dangerously attached to his wellbeing.

Candidate #2: Echo

The girl with system-slicing daggers and a mysterious past.

Candidate #3: ...Kenji?

A quiet guy who talks to books and smells like sleep deprivation.

Claimed he "saw Jay in a prophecy written on a tortilla."

Jay stared at the paper.

"Good enough."

Scene 3 – The Hidden Club of System-Breakers

That night, Jay followed the instructions on the letter.

Down seven staircases. Past a hallway of broken statues. Through a mirror.

And there… a secret room.

Candles flickered. A dozen figures in mismatched robes looked up.

At the center sat a girl in a shadowy hood.

Her teacup glowed with anti-detection runes.

> "Welcome, Jay Sama. Or shall we say…"

"Dreaming God."

Jay raised an eyebrow. "Are all secret societies this dramatic?"

She chuckled. "No. We're just weirdly competent."

> "We know you broke the Admin.

We know the Alpha-Null glitch tried to erase you.

And we know someone is using the Royal Tournament to hunt system holders like you."

Jay sat down.

"Okay. And?"

The girl pushed forward a second cup of tea.

> "Drink this, and unlock the location of your first enemy's real identity."

Jay leaned forward, squinting.

"…This isn't chamomile, is it?"

He drank.

The world rippled.

For a moment, he saw:

A vision of the tournament stadium collapsing.

Alicia bleeding, shielding him.

A cloaked figure whispering: "I will reset your existence."

And then—

A name floated to the front of his mind.

> "Princess Virelle."

The one who arranged the Royal Tournament.

> "She's not just a sponsor," said the hooded girl.

"She's the one who wrote the rules.

And she's building a weapon that only targets system users."

Jay's fingers trembled slightly.

Then he yawned.

"Cool. So... we crush the tournament and break her stuff?"

The table of rogue geniuses nodded in unison.
