The Lazy Genius With 999x System

Chapter 24: System Executioner: Virelle's Trump Card

"Some systems are granted. Others are stolen. But a few… are erased."

— Confiscator's Codex, Volume I

---

The guards at the east gate stood frozen.

A cloaked figure approached in silence. Not a whisper of wind, not a speck of aura.

But every sensor failed. Mana detection orbs shattered.

Then, without even drawing a weapon, he said—

"Target confirmed. Codename: Jay."

"Priority: Reclamation."

One step forward.

The guards collapsed. Not dead—just erased. Not even a soul trace remained.

A raven landed on the city's spire and screeched.

Far above, Princess Virelle's lips curled into a smile.

"Release the Executioner."

---

Jay was making toast.

It was burning.

He stared at it like it had betrayed him.

Alicia poked her head into the dorm kitchen. "Jay-sama… are you planning our team strategy?"

Jay yawned. "I am. Strategically waiting for divine inspiration. While this toast tortures itself."

Kenji ran in, waving a magical newspaper. "The city's early warning seals activated! A high-level interference wave just passed through Sector Twelve!"

Jay blinked. "...Was that near the bakery?"

Echo appeared, flipping a knife. "Closer. It's headed here."

A pulse of static hit the building.

Jay's System interface glitched—just for a second.

> [WARNING: EXTERNAL SYSTEM SCRAMBLE SIGNAL DETECTED]

He raised a brow. "That's new."

Jay's expression darkened.

No one noticed. No one ever really looked long enough to see the small changes.

He remembered it.

That day six months ago in the Forbidden Archive.

The System didn't attach to him randomly.

He hacked it.

He broke through the locks of the world's control mechanisms to absorb a dying prototype—one meant for a god-tier weapon.

The price?

The moment he used it... they would come.

The cleaners. The fixers.

The System Executioners.

Alarm bells rang across Vija's northern wing.

A single man—no mana signature, no life force—walked through the walls like mist.

Students fainted in his wake. Professors collapsed without wounds. Magic barriers folded like paper.

Alicia's eyes widened. "Who is he?!"

Kenji checked his tortilla scrolls. "I think this is the part where someone dies with dignity... or humor."

Echo snarled. "He's not normal."

Jay sighed, standing up slowly.

"That's because he's not human."

He looked out the cracked dorm window.

"He's a system-cleaner. A walking reset button."

A shadow appeared in the hallway, walking slowly toward their room.

The figure removed his mask.

Beneath it—nothing. No face. Just a swirling void.

He held out a black cube glowing with anti-system runes.

> "999x System Detected."

"Subject Jay Sama: Unauthorized Host."

"You have been judged: Corrupted."

"Execution begins now."

With a wave of his hand, the cube expanded, launching a ripple of null-energy—

Magic disintegrated. The air fractured.

Jay stepped forward.

"So you're Virelle's watchdog?"

"Tell her thanks for sending something interesting."

Jay's HUD lit up.

> [Activating Passive: Lazy Core – Infinite Buff Reflection]

[Activating Active: Procrastination Barrier (999x Delay All Incoming Threats)]

The null wave slowed.

But not by much.

Echo leapt forward, but her daggers passed through the enemy uselessly.

Kenji's barrier spell fizzled.

Alicia screamed, "Jay—don't face it alone!"

Jay cracked his neck. "Relax."

Then he vanished.

Not teleported. Erased himself briefly to escape the anti-system scanner.

He reappeared behind the Executioner, hand extended—

"Return to Update Queue."

The cube vibrated.

[System Error.]

[Error. Error. Error—]

BOOM.

The room exploded in blue and black data shards.

Jay collapsed to one knee.

The Executioner's form shattered, dissolving into static.

But the cube remained.

Jay stared at it.

"This was a scout unit."

Alicia caught him. "You're shaking."

Jay smiled, weakly. "Not from fear. From the energy rush."

Then he looked straight at the others.

"We need to win this tournament."

"Not for fame. Not even for the academy."

"Because someone's gathering System Users."

"And I just got marked."
