The Legendaries Awaken

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: The Heart of The Abyss

The moment the blade pierced the heart of the Abyssal Sovereign, time itself seemed to slow. The earth groaned beneath the weight of the being, the very atmosphere warping as if reality itself was straining against the incredible forcethat Kai had unleashed. The Abyss—the entity that had been sealed away for millennia—screamed, its form distorting, shifting like smoke in a storm.

Kai stood there, his body trembling from the immense strain. He could feel the raw power of the Abyssal Core coursing through him, threatening to consume him completely. His mind was spinning, unable to fully grasp the magnitude of what he had done. The sword was buried deep within the Sovereign, but it was not enough to simply impale it.

This wasn't just a battle of strength anymore—it was a war for the very fabric of existence.

The Sovereign's form twisted, shrieking in pain, its voice like rending metal, louder and more agonizing than anything Kai had ever heard. The very space around them seemed to collapse under the weight of the creature's rage. His health was rapidly depleting as the Abyssal energy that flooded him began to tear at his mind and body.

He could feel it—the pull of the Abyss, its influence trying to seize control of his will. His vision blurred, and for a brief moment, Kai felt himself on the edge of losing everything he had fought for.

No.

He refused to succumb. His thoughts, though clouded, remained clear—survive. Protect. Defeat the Abyss. His mind locked onto that singular goal, and he forced himself to center on it. The Abyssal Core was a part of him, yes, but he was still the one in control.

"I will not be your puppet," Kai gritted out, his teeth clenched as he shoved all of his willpower into his sword. His grip tightened, the very act of holding the weapon an act of defiance against the overwhelming darkness.

The Core, sensing his resistance, reacted violently, sending out waves of raw Abyssal energy that knocked Kai to the ground. The force was so strong that the air seemed to burn. His body slammed into the rubble, and his HP flashed dangerously low. He struggled to rise, his body screaming in pain, but there was no turning back now.

The Sovereign wasn't dead—it was awakening. Its form shifted again, the Abyss itself beginning to manifest visibly in the room, consuming the space.

He could see it now. The very heart of the Abyss.

"Kai!" Jiro's voice echoed from behind him. "Kai, get up! We don't have much time!"

Eun-Seo and Han were not far behind, but even their combined powers couldn't break through the overwhelming pressure. The Abyssal Sovereign was fusing with reality, pulling the entire fortress and possibly the world itself into its endless, all-consuming darkness.

But Kai couldn't give up. Not now. He had made a promise to himself, to his lost parents, and to those who had stood beside him.

In the midst of the chaos, his system flashed:

SYSTEM ALERT: Special Condition Met – Evolution of Abyssal Rejection

Description: Your Abyssal Rejection has reached an unprecedented level. Your resistance to the Abyssal energy is complete. You are now the key to its undoing.

Effect: You can now sever the connection between the Abyss and this realm. Use this power wisely, for it will consume everything in its path.

---

His system was no longer just a guide—it was an ally. Kai could feel the weight of its words. He wasn't just trying to survive anymore—he was the last hope to save the world.

He felt the power surge again, even greater than before. The Abyssal energy inside him flared, but it wasn't an all-consuming force this time. Instead, Kai channeled it, focused it, and turned it outward. He used the very energy of the Abyss against itself.

The room trembled as Kai began to shift the flow of power. His body burned with the intensity of the magic, but his mind was clear. He was controlling it now.

The Abyssal Sovereign howled in rage, its form beginning to distort even further as Kai's will clashed with its own. The creature was too large, too ancient to be defeated by strength alone—but the Abyss had made one fatal mistake. It had underestimated Kai Jin's resolve.

Kai's body lit up with energy, a blinding light that radiated from within. The Abyssal Core pulsed violently as it tried to fight back, but this time it wasn't a struggle for control—it was a fight for existence.

"I'm ending this," Kai said quietly to himself. His voice was steady, his mind fully aware of the cost.

He charged the remaining energy in his body and thrust it forward, aiming directly at the core of the Abyssal Sovereign's essence.

The entire fortress shook violently as light and darkness collided. The Abyss screamed, its form unraveling like a torn fabric. The sheer intensity of the energy being released caused everything in its path to disintegrate—the stone walls, the floor beneath them, the air itself. The world felt like it was on the brink of being swallowed whole.

But Kai's focus never wavered. He pushed forward, feeling the energy surge through him, searing through the pain, the fear, and the uncertainty. He wasn't just fighting for himself. He was fighting for every life that had been destroyed by the Abyss.

His sword, glowing with the combined might of the Abyssal Rejection and his own will, struck at the very heart of the Abyss, severing its ties to this world.

The energy that exploded outward was beyond anything Kai had ever experienced. A shockwave of pure power, a force so violent and intense that it could only be described as the very end of the Abyss itself. The darkness that had once consumed the land evaporated in an instant, leaving only the remnants of the decimated fortress.

Kai fell to his knees, exhausted and bloodied. His body felt like it was falling apart under the strain of everything he had just done. His HP was dangerously low, and his body had nearly succumbed to the overwhelming pressure of the energy.

But the world was safe.

The Abyssal Sovereign was gone. The Abyss.had been sealed once more.

Jiro, Han, and Eun-Seo rushed to his side, their faces a mixture of relief and concern. Kai looked up at them, a weak smile crossing his face despite the exhaustion.

"We did it," he whispered.

And for the first time in a long while, Kai felt that maybe—just maybe—he could finally allow himself to believe that it was over.
