Chapter 15: CHAPTER 15
Your stepmom wanted the family business to herself."
I felt a surge of anger and sadness as I thought about my stepmom's motivations. "It's not just about the business," I said, my voice shaking with emotion. "It's about the fact that she's willing to kill someone to get what she wants. My father was a good man, and he didn't deserve to die."
Sophia nodded in agreement. "You're right," she said. "Your stepmom's actions are despicable. But we need to focus on bringing her to justice, rather than getting bogged down in our emotions."
I took a deep breath and tried to calm down. Sophia was right, we needed to stay focused and keep moving forward.
Rachel spoke up, her voice firm. "I think it's time we paid a visit to your stepmom," she said. "We need to confront her about the evidence we've uncovered and see how she reacts."
"Where is my uncle? Is he back yet?"
"Yes he is. We will move in the next few minutes."
"Ok let's pack this into the truck."
We parked and left the environment. Settling down in a nice conducive environment. Where my stepmom knows nothing about.
"Did you like it here angel?"
"Yes uncle, I love it. I really do."
"Good. I promise you. You are safe here. Your stepmom will never find you here.
"I trust you uncle. With you here I'm safe. You are my safety."
"What about my idea before?"
"What do you think?" my uncle asked
"We need to confront her."
"The police have been looking for her but she is nowhere to be found." Sophia said.
I felt a surge of frustration and worry. "Where could she be?" I asked, feeling a sense of desperation. "We need to find her and bring her to justice."
Rachel nodded in agreement. "I've been trying to track her down, but she seems to have vanished into thin air," she said. "I've checked all of her usual haunts, but there's no sign of her."
Sophia's eyes narrowed. "I think we need to think about this from a different perspective," she said. "Where would your stepmom go if she was trying to hide?"
I thought for a moment, trying to put myself in my stepmom's shoes. "She has a lot of connections in the business world," I said. "Maybe she's gone to one of her associates for help." My uncle said after thinking for some time.
Rachel's eyes lit up. "That's a good lead," she said. "Let's start making some calls and see if we can track her down."
As we began to make calls and follow up on leads, I couldn't help but feel a sense of determination. We were going to find my stepmom, no matter what it took.
Suddenly, Sophia's phone rang. She answered it, listened for a moment, and then her eyes widened in surprise.
"What is it?" I asked, feeling a sense of trepidation.
Sophia's voice was barely above a whisper. "It's the police," she said. "They've found a lead on your stepmom's whereabouts."
My heart began to pound in my chest. "Where is she?" I asked, feeling a sense of anticipation.
Sophia's eyes locked on mine. "She's been spotted at a private airport on the outskirts of town," she said. "The police think she may be trying to leave the country."
I felt a surge of adrenaline. We had to act fast if we were going to catch my stepmom.
We quickly rushed to the airport with the police, determined to catch my stepmom before she could escape. As we arrived, I could see the police surrounding the airport, their cars and officers positioned strategically to block any possible escape routes.
My uncle, Rachel, Sophia, and I joined the police, who were busy setting up a perimeter around the airport. We were all on high alert, our eyes scanning the area for any sign of my stepmom.
As we waited, Rachel started to make some calls, trying to gather more information about my stepmom's plans. She spoke in hushed tones, her eyes locked on the airport as she listened to the person on the other end of the line.
After a few minutes, Rachel hung up the phone and turned to us. "I just spoke to one of my contacts," she said. "They told me that your stepmom has booked a private jet to take her to a destination in Europe."
Sophia's eyes widened. "We need to act fast," she said. "If she gets on that plane, we may never catch her."
The police officer in charge, a tall, imposing man with a firm expression, nodded in agreement. "We'll do our best to apprehend her before she can board the plane," he said. "But we need to be careful. We don't know what kind of resources she may have at her disposal."
As we waited, I could feel the tension building. We were so close to catching my stepmom, but we still had to be careful. One wrong move could give her the opportunity to escape.
Suddenly, I saw a figure emerging from the airport terminal. It was my stepmom, her eyes scanning the area as she looked for any sign of trouble.
The police officer in charge nodded to his team, and they moved in to surround my stepmom. She looked around, her eyes widening in surprise, as she realized she was surrounded.
The officer approached her, his hand on his gun. "Ma'am, you're under arrest for the murder of your husband," he said, his voice firm.
My stepmom's face turned white, and she looked like she was going to faint. But then, her expression changed, and she looked angry.
"This is ridiculous," she spat. "I didn't kill anyone."
The officer ignored her protests and continued to read her her rights. As he did, the other officers moved in to handcuff her and lead her away.
I watched as my stepmom was taken away, feeling a sense of relief and closure. It was finally over. Justice had been served.
But as I turned to my uncle, Rachel and Sophia, I saw that they were both looking at me with concerned expressions.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
My uncle hesitated before speaking. "I'm not sure this is the end of it," he said. "Your stepmom may have had help, and we don't know who else might be involved."
Sophia nodded in agreement. "We need to be careful," she said. "We don't know what kind of danger we might still be in."
I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized that Rachel and Sophia were right. We might have caught my stepmom, but we still didn't know the full extent of her plans, or who else might be involved.
