Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Elizabeth's POV
Asha, the girl who stabbed Desert with silver blades, followed Raphael and Gabriel down a corridor while Raphael dragged me by the hand. Asha made sure to stay close to Gabriel. I was certain it was because she was shielding him from being seen by seers and other people.
I expected Freya to be here as well, but honestly I didn't care where she was.
I still couldn't believe that Asha was Keyon's sister. They had the same dark brown eyes and long dark brown hair, but other than that they looked like two completely different people. Yet her scent was unmistakably that of Keyon's sibling and they had similar abilities. Keyon had the ability to move like a shadow and cast a shadow over himself and those around him. He couldn't control his ability and it led to him being alone and unnoticed all the time.
Asha was a bit different. She seemed to be able to control her abilities. I've never seen Keyon cast an actual shadow that blinded me the way Asha's smoke did. I've also never seen him evade Mathew's orders. He was bound to them just like Ken was. He also couldn't make others see him when he wanted like Asha seemed to be able to do. Asha was in full control of her powers.
"Are you thinking of trying to kill me again?" Asha smirked when she noticed me staring at her while we walked down the long hallway.
She guessed right. I wanted to kill that girl over and over again for what she did to Mike. I couldn't let her get away with it.
"Maybe", I scoffed. "Or maybe I'm wondering what happened to you to make you end up here."
Raphael and Gabriel laughed when they heard me.
"If your brother and mother abandoned you after your tenth birthday, you would have ended up in the same place." She kept a straight face and didn't seem bothered that she was sharing such a personal detail about herself with me.
"Keyon would never do that", I tried defending him. "He's one of the most insightful and caring people I've come to know. He would never do something like that. He's not like you."
"Keyon and my mother stopped seeing me the moment my abilities kicked in" she rolled her eyes. "To them, it wasn't that they abandoned a little ten year old girl. They just forgot that I existed. I couldn't control my powers back then, but I can now. I will use these powers to kill him just like how I killed your guard."
It took every ounce of self restraint I possessed not to lunge at her. I clenched my fists and tried breathing slowly.
"You and I aren't done yet", I promised her.
Our conversation was cut short when snow started forming around the four of us. After a few seconds, we were no longer in the long silver and white hallway. We were in the middle of a terrible war.
I saw large black bears ripping people apart. Vines and trees were thrown at the bears, but none of it helped. The bears were clearly winning this war.
I have never been here before, but the green forestry told me this was the Nymph kingdom. I had only heard a few tales of the kingdom. All I knew was that, like the inklings, they also worshipped Nayala, the godess who rules the winds. However, unlike the Northern Inkling Kingdom, nymphs would never abandon magic. They'd die without it.
Mike told me nymphs were not created to be warriors. The scene before me confirmed that. They were all small in stature and had the weakest aura I've ever encountered amongst all the magical creatures I've met. Mike still liked them though. Apparently he met a few nymphs as a child and he found them to be quite hilarious. Back when no one knew what I was, he often joked that I could be a nymph whenever I made him laugh.
"My men say the sacred forest is that way", a bear in human form pulled my eyes from the horrific scene infront of me.
He only seemed to notice Raphael despite Gabriel, Asha and I standing right next to him.
"Good", Raphael said coldly and then disappeared, leaving us behind to watch what can only be described as a massacre.
"Orion", I whispered in shock.
He was here in the Nymph kingdom. His black fur was covered in blood and he kept ripping the bears from limb to limb like they were nothing. He had come for me. I thought Freya's cloack meant I couldn't be found, and yet here he was. He found me.
I felt happy tears trickling down my cheecks. I ran to him as fast as my legs could carry me. I lifted my long silver gown with both hands and just kept running to him. I expected Gabriel and Asha to try and stop me, but they let me be.
"Orion!", I shouted. "Orion look at me. It's me!"
He kept tearing into the bears. It was like he couldn't see or hear me.
"Orion!", I screamed again. "Orion, it's me! Orion please!"
He kept killing were-bears like I wasn't there.
I grabbed his long, thick and soft fur, but something felt strange. I had his fur in my hands, but I couldn't feel it. I might as well not be touching him.
"No", I muttered to myself. "No, no, no!" I started screaming. What kind of cloack had Freya put on me? I was invisible to everyone except Raphael, Asha and Gabriel. Even Agatha's cloaking skills weren't this advanced. She couldn't cloack me from the entire world like Freya had. It took Mathew three years to find me. He'd never find me again with a cloack this strong.
"Please hear me", I screamed at him. "Orion, you're my mate. Please!"
He started sprinting away from me and left me standing on my knees. My heart shattered into pieces while I watched him sprint away. I touched him and even spoke to him, but he felt nothing. I was invisible. He would never find me. Phoenix would be back soon. Without him, I'll go feral when she returns.
I swallowed my tears as I came to terms with my new reality. I looked back at Gabriel and Asha. Asha was silently laughing at me. Gabriel had a huge amused grin on his face.
I looked at Orion again. Would he and Mathew be okay? Would he go into that dark spiral Ken and Keyon told me about? The werewolves would be lost without him. They would lose their strength. They would go back to isolating themselves again.
"Orion!", I called out to him desperately one last time.
He stopped running. I was filled with hope and anticipation as I watched him sniff the air and then dig his nose into the ground and slowly walk until he reached the very spot where I was standing. His nose lingered while he continued sniffing me.
I laughed while happy tears streamed down my face. I knew he couldn't feel it, but I dug my head into his fur. Somewhere deep inside he had heard me and felt me calling out to him. A part of me was able to reach him despite being cloacked.
"Mine", I whispered through my tears. "You're mine, Orion."
He suddenly lifted his head and started sprinting across the war torn field. I wiped my tears away while I watched him run. I didn't want Asha and Gabriel to see me crying. I wiped away all my tears and stood back up.
I felt Gabriel's cold hand on my shoulder. "I'm impressed", he whispered into my ear. "For a moment there I thought we were caught."
"He'll find me", I muttered to myself. "He'll always find me."
"Not this time, Elizabeth." He said coldly.
Snow particles started forming around us again and this time we were in a forest filled with orange and purple leaves. This was the forest Audrey had mentioned she saw in her vision. The gem was here.
My knees almost buckled as I watched Danny and Raphael kill werewolf warriors. I started pulling Danny away to try and stop her, but nothing I did had any effect on her. I might as well not be there. I ran to Raphael when I realised I couldn't stop Danny, but he threw me off him like I was a piece of paper.
"Danny, stop!" I roared at her. "What the hell are you doing?"
Danny grabbed the box a woman with yellow hair and eyes was holding as soon as she was done killing the warriors. The woman was a bit older, but she looked just like Danny. The only difference was she had yellow hair and eyes and Danny had pink hair and eyes.
"Sweetheart, this isn't right!", the woman sobbed while begging Danny on her knees.
"What's not right is losing our kingdom over you and some stupid gem!", Danny shouted at the woman and grabbed the box she was clutching in her hands. "You left me, dad, your whole family for THIS?!"
She didn't give the woman a chance to respond. She shoved the woman to Raphael and little ice particles formed around the woman as she disappeared into thin air.
Danny then handed the box the woman was holding to Raphael.
"Did you find her?", she asked Raphael nervously.
"Yes", he said in his cold voice. "Elizabeth was leaving the Gryphon kingdom just as you said. We killed her guard. If all goes to plan, the Werewolf King will think the Gryphon King kept her for himself. The two kingdoms will go to war and perhaps save me the trouble of killing them myself."
I tried shaking Danny, but she didn't even flinch.
"I trusted you", I screamed at her. "You're my sister. Why would you do this? There's nothing I wouldn't have done for you! Why?!" I fell to the floor as breathless gasps threatened to close my airway.
"This is priceless", Asha laughed.
"Yes", Gabriel agreed, "I must admit this is quite the show."
"He's coming", Danny said in a panick-filled voice. "I want your word that my father, my sisters and my mother will be safe. I've more than done my part. You have Elizabeth and the gem because I've proven my loyalty to you."
Raphael extended his hand to hers and shook it. "I am going to be a God, Princess Diane", he reassured her calmly. "I give you my word that I will spare your family's lives."
The snow particles started forming around us and I knew we would disappear again.
"No! No!" I shouted. I ran to Danny to try and escape them, but the little ice particles followed me until I felt myself disappear from the forest filled with orange and purple leaves.
I was so furious that I was even shaking. I was the one who told everyone that Danny could be trusted. I told them I trusted her with my life. I told them there was no need to keep any secrets from her. She was a wolf in sheep's clothing and I was the one who let her in.
A seer should have seen this. Audrey would have seen something like this.
"Keyon", I muttered to myself. She used Keyon to shield herself from the seers.
"You're right, Elizabeth", Raphael breathed into my hair. "Princess Diane used Asha's brother to blind the seers. She may hate her father, but not enough to let him die when she knows she can save him."
I stayed quiet. What could I say after what I saw?
"You haven't changed one bit, Elizabeth", Gabriel furrowed his brows. "Even in your previous life you demanded absolute loyalty. You can be very...inflexible, but I suppose that's because you were always meant to be a Luna of the werewolves. "
I wiped away my angry tears while we were trapped in the gust of little snow flakes.
"Mark my words", I growled lowly. "Even if it kills me, you're not winning this war."
Raphael and Gabriel narrowed their eyes at me. "There's nothing you can do, Elizabeth", Gabriel said in the most serious tone. "Ralphie and I have already won."
"Over my dead body", I gritted through my teeth.
The little snow particles disappeared and we were suddenly on top of an icy mountain. I would recognise this mountain anywhere. We were on Mount Moria. I knew the landscape of this mountain. I almost died here and this is where Killian and I kissed. I could never forget it.
I tried to remain calm, but my heart started racing and my breathing got fast and shallow. If they were here it meant they were meeting with a gryphon. Killian had a traitor.
He wouldn't be the one meeting with Raphael. He takes pride in his honour and integrity. He would never do something like this. I rubbed my chest while I kept repeating this thought to myself. Killian would never side with Raphael. He wouldn't do something this terrible. If he did, it meant I had risked losing Phoenix for nothing.
"King Maxwell", Raphael's voice stretched effortlessly over the harsh winds on Mount Moria.
A giant figure with long red hair slowly emerged from the rocky and icy mountain.
"Warlock", King Maxwell greeted Raphael sternly.
"I trust you bring me good news."
King Maxwell looked around him before speaking. "My beast says we're not alone. Who else is here?"
A menacing smirk appeared on Raphael's face. "This is why I want gryphons to be a part of the new world order. Your senses are unlike any other. You sense curses, cloacks, glamours. Nothing can escape you."
"Well?", King Maxwell raised his brow at him. "Who else is here?"
"A very special guest is with us today, but you won't be able to see or hear her. Don't worry your pretty little red head about it. She won't be a bother."
King Maxwell took a deep breath and looked annoyed at Raphael. "Five hundred gryphons will fight for you. I couldn't get the rest of our warriors to side with me. They are loyal to my son."
Raphael growled at him. "You told me there are more than a thousand gryphon warriors, Maxwell. I want them all. If you can't get your son to side with me then I'll have to kill him."
King Maxwell rushed Raphael, but Raphael quickly grabbed him by the neck and slammed him against the ground.
"You told me you want to prevent a world where werewolves are stronger than gryphons, Maxwell", Raphael growled at him. "You told me your seers have seen this new world where werewolves reign over the gryphons. I told you I can make sure that reality doesn't come to pass, but there's a price to pay for that world, Maxwell. Your people must fight for that world. If your son can't see that then he must die."
"I'll make sure he comes around", King Maxwell growled back at Raphael. "He's in love with the Werewolf King's mate. She has rejected him and it's only making his resentment for the werewolves grow day by day. He will see the light. I just need to talk to him. He doesn't have to die."
"Good", Raphael smiled and helped King Maxwell get up like he wasn't the one who just slammed him into the ground. "Because of you I was this close to killing the Werewolf King's Beta. I know you'll bring me the entire Gryphon army. Especially if your son's life is on the line."
Raphael patted Maxwell's shoulder after he helped him get up.
I felt Gabriel's hand on my back and quickly flicked it away. I wanted to throw up. I didn't even bother looking for King Maxwell while I was in the Gryphon kingdom. I just wanted that potion. He was going to use Killian's feelings for me to manipulate him. Killian also didn't think much of werewolves, but i had hoped my time with him changed his views. Would he side with his father? I couldn't answer that, but I could at least try to warn him.
I ran away from Gabriel and Asha while Raphael continued talking to Maxwell. Even if I never escaped, I had to find a way to warn Killian about his father.
"There's no use running, Elizabeth", I heard Gabriel's voice trailing behind be. "You belong to me and Ralphie now."
I kept running until I reached Maru's sacred river. It was just as I remembered it. The river was surrounded by green grass, wild flowers and trees despite the ice on Mount Moria being so harsh that kills anything that tries to grow there.
Freya's cloack felt lighter here. It didn't weigh as much anymore.
I picked up a small rock and started carving on a large rock in the garden. I had no idea if this would even work.
Max is traitor.
SF
That was all I had time to carve on the large rock before Asha and Gabriel found me. I quickly got up before they noticed what I was doing.
"At least leave me here", I tried to distract them. "Let me die on this mountain in peace."
"We're not wasting your death", Gabriel said angrily. "If you die, it will be to serve a great purpose."
"You mean to free Legion?", I asked sarcastically.
He smiled at me. "Yes."
I tore my hand out of his hand before we even reached Raphael.
Killian had to find that message before it was too late. There was no telling if I even left a message. For all I know, I may have thought I carved a message into that rock, but I didn't actually do anything that could be seen in the real world. And what if King Maxwell saw it first? He would remove it. My message was unlikely to reach Killian, but I had to try something.
Raphael laced his fingers in mine as soon as we reached him.
"Don't touch me", I growled at him.
"Are you mad because I am going to kill King Killian?", he mocked me. "Maxwell just informed me that you and his son kissed. Do you love the Gryphon king?"
"That's none of your business", I spat out.
He growled. "It doesn't matter. Whether he sides with me or not, he'll die either way. King Killian will die fighting the Werewolf King or fighting me. His death has already been foreseen."
"Killian is strong", I muttered to myself. "And the future isn't cast in stone. He won't die that easily."
Snow particles started forming under our feet again while Raphael walked with my hand in his.
I knew the next place we found ourselves in. I could never forget it. This is where my encounter with the magical world started. It was the Black Claw pack.
