The lycan queen

Chapter 13: chapter eleven

Recap;:-

She nodded her head. Her father had always been the wise and inspirational man in their pack, at least that's why I've observed from talking with him. His words were always so true and wise that no one would mock his words or even ignore his comments. His words were always believed. I never understood his words, but now I know his words were always the truth.

"You mustn't dwell on the fact that you rejected her, wanted to exile her and nearly raped her after a few hours of meeting her" she whispered back.

I took a few steps backwards when he said the last two words. I was shocked for words, looking at Sarah just to confirm if I saw red before. I was seeing blood now.

Sarah's pov:-

The sun hung high, a silver sentinel illuminating the clearing where the air crackled with tension. If I had known telling Crya that my mate rejected me, nearly raped me, pulse the other stuff he did, would bring out the monster in her. I would have shut my mouth. It took her a mere 30 seconds to throw a grown gamma male across the dining hall and into the training ground and, mind you, that's like 20 kilometers away.

My heart raced, beating in my chest like a war drum. I crouched behind a gnarled tree, its bark rough against my back, as I watched the two beasts circle each other, muscles coiling beneath matted fur.

One werewolf, brown in color, large and more imposing, snarled, revealing rows of jagged teeth glistening in the sunlight. The other, also larger, black in color, but one could tell it's a female wolf due to the flexibility it displays, but no less fierce, growled in response, eyes glowing with a primal fury. Each movement was a dance of raw power and instinct, their forms shifting in and out of shadow.

Suddenly, the larger one lunged, a blur of motion that sent leaves swirling in its wake. I felt the rush of wind as it swept past me, crashing into its opponent with a bone-rattling thud. The sound echoed in my ears, a reminder of the violence unfolding just a few feet away. I could almost taste the metallic tang of blood in the air.

The female wolf retaliated, using its agility to slip away from the initial blow. It twisted midair, claws outstretched, aiming for the larger wolf's flank. I held my breath, knowing that one wrong move could spell disaster. The larger wolf howled in pain as the claws made contact, but it quickly recovered, swinging its massive paw in a deadly arc.

Time seemed to slow as the two titans clashed, fur flying and snarls reverberating through the night. I could see the determination in their eyes, a fierce will to dominate or be dominated. My instincts screamed at me to run, to escape the chaos, but I was frozen, entranced by the brutal ballet unfolding before me.

With each strike and counterstrike, the ground beneath them churned, a savage testament to their ferocity. The female wolf darted in and out, a flash of silver against the dark, but the larger one was relentless, a juggernaut of muscle and rage. I could feel my own pulse quickening with every clash, every growl echoing like thunder in my ears.

Then, with a sudden burst of energy, the female wolf feigned left, then lunged right, sinking its teeth into the larger wolf's shoulder. The world narrowed to that single moment, the primal roar of the wounded beast piercing the air. I felt a shiver run down my spine, caught between awe and terror.

As the fight escalated, I realized that I was not just a spectator—I was part of this ancient struggle, caught in the crossfire of a battle that was as old as the moon itself. The day was alive with their fury, and I knew that whatever the outcome, nothing would ever be the same again.

I gained my composure to speak after I realized I was going to be choosing between my mate's life and my best friend's life if I didn't stop them soon.

I tried shouting on top of my voice and it wasn't working. So, since they can't hear the Alphas' shouts to stop, I am going to use myself as bait to stop them.

I looked at Adam's wolf who was not having the humiliation of a girl beating them, not after all they had been through in this pack. They need to prove their stand. I also looked at my best friend Wolf, who looked livid and not about to back down anytime soon. I took a step forward from my safe zone and, before you know it, a step turned to two, then two to three. And before you know, it I am standing in a field where two large wolves were charging against each other.

The constant awareness that either wolf could turn on you at any moment, with their powerful jaws and sharp teeth posing a very real threat to your life.

The overwhelming visual impact of the snarling, lunging wolves, the smell of musky fur and adrenaline, and the deafening sounds of their growls and the clash of bodies.

The feeling of being frozen in place, muscles tensed, heart pounding rapidly, and breath catching in my throat due to the sheer adrenaline rush.

The sense of absolute dread and powerlessness in the face of such raw, untamed power, where your own ability to react or fight back seems negligible.

The unpredictable movements of the fighting wolves, coupled with the intensity of the situation, as they charge toward each other with me still their mist.

The primal urge to run away and hide back in my previous position took over my instinct when I saw that neither of them was calming down.

The sense of being surrounded by danger, with no clear path to escape, claustrophobia and panic.

Loss of control:

The realization that you have no control over the outcome of the fight, and your life could depend on the animals' unpredictable actions.

I closed my eyes. I could hear my heart beat pound against my chest as if trying to leave it. Sweating palms and hot body yet still sweating like never before as I waited for their animal body to crash against mine.

Suddenly, I felt nothing, the air was still and no movement or noise like before. I opened my eyes to find I still had my body intact. I looked up at my best friend who was sitting on the floor looking at me with loving eyes. She leaked my face, which made me laugh. Everyone around also laughed as well.

Then I turned to look at my so-called mate, o couldn't find him on the fighting ground as I expected, but I did find him looking at me from the far corner leading to the forest.

I suddenly felt tired in my joints, making me lose control of my stance, but I was caught by someone. Adrenaline Crash I remember this feeling being taught to us in class:

After a fight, the adrenaline that kept them going can lead to a crash, resulting in feelings of tiredness or even sadness. Mental Exhaustion: The mental focus required during a fight can lead to cognitive fatigue, making it hard to concentrate.

I know I didn't fight, but I also did in some way. I looked up to find who caught my falling self, and it was my bestie who had turned back to her human form. I looked around to also see faces I recognized, including James. I just smiled and everything went black.

Crya's pov:

What was she thinking of trying to use herself as a shield to stop us? "She was trying to save her mate from us" Aurora said, then she continued. "You know, if she didn't, the boy would die by our hands, right? We're too strong for him". I smiled, then concentrated on the little human still closing her eyes in front of us.

When she opened them, I was elated because she was scared rather than happy to have succeeded in her plans. When she turned to search for her mate, I knew she'd feel sad, and I didn't want to see that. I turned, heading towards where it all started to turn back to myself, not because I really needed to but because I needed to hide myself well from them. I then looked at my paws to see my black fur, and then it hit me. 'Black fur?' Before I could ask Aurora, she said "you wanted to hide the fact that you're a special wolf, so I made it happen."

"Wait! can you really do that?"

"Not I but us."

"Us?"

"Yes"

"How?"

"That's part of our power, we can change the color of our fur".

"Really? How? You never told me that I had powers? What are the rest of my powers like?"

"A, slow down with the questions. B, yes, and I don't know how it happens, but I know that white wolves come with their own unique abilities. C, I never knew when the power would come. And, D I don't know"

When she finished, I was more confused now than before. I heard murmurs and when I turned to check what it was, I found nothing. I tried turning back when I saw something from the left corner of my eye. Sarah seemed to be weak and about to fall, but that didn't move me. I mean she can always stand up. Not until her eyes rowed back, leaving just the white color there, did I react and, like a blot of light, I ran towards reaching her in seconds and catching her before she could touch the ground. She seemed to be sleeping the way her eyes were closed. When she opened them again only to smile and close them again, it gave me chills down my spine because I had also seen that kind of look on someone else and the outcome was bad.

Flashback:

Back when I newly got the crescent bowl pack, back when I still had hope that my parents would come pick me up, back when I still had friends. I was writing a letter to my mother about my friend's joy. We stayed in the pack orphanage together and before Sarah came along she was there.

Hi mom, how are you, because I am doing fine here and hope for the same on your side.I want to tell you about a horrible incident that took place in our orphanage last week and, before I could continue, I saw joy who was sitting on the wall of bricks and playing their and suddenly his feet sleep, and she was about to fall. It suddenly caught my eye and I ran to save her. Unfortunately, I couldn't arrive in time to save her. Infact, I was perplexed by the scene before me. When I saw her face, she looked so peaceful as if she was in a good place. That day also happened to be the day my nightmare began, the day I stopped being happy, the day I stopped writing to my mum, and I became the bad luck of the pack. As an eleven-year-old girl I was labeled bad luck because I couldn't save my friend.

Flashback ends:

"Crya let go so we can take her to the hospital to treat her" Alpha Nolan shouted. Which did a good job at taking me out of my thoughts. I quickly let her go. After the turns and turns, we finally go to the hospital only to be told to wait in the lobby while they examine her. I wasn't having that, so I marched myself towards the room. I saw them push her in, but Alpha Nolan stopped me.

"With no disrespect, Alpha, move" I growled the last part.

"Don't you dare growl at me, Wolf."

"You're not my Alpha so don't tell me what to do, move!"

"I may not be yours, but I am Sarah's Alpha by mating."

I snickered, then shouted "The same mate that rejected her!" I shouted him up.

I made another attempt to leave, but James stopped me this time around. "Would you like to be the cause of her death?" I looked at him, worry written all over my face, and he continued "then let the doctors do their work". That got me to stop struggling. I sat my a** down and bowed my head to do the one thing I said I'd never do again.

pray.
