Chapter 9
Parallel universe?
Wait, a parallel universe!
Xu Wanwan, who had just packed her luggage and sat down on the bed to rest, suddenly heard a sound coming from Ye Jinmeng's phone. Xu Wanwan's heart began to beat wildly as a thought seemed to flash through her mind in an instant.
Could it be that she did not reincarnate, but rather crossed over into a parallel universe? That would explain why there were some slight differences between this life and her previous one.
This idea caught Xu Wanwan completely off guard.
She looked up at Ye Jinmeng lying on the bed across from her and couldn't help but stare blankly again.
Ye Jinmeng was wearing a light blue long-sleeved dress today with her hair tied up in a fluffy bun again.
"She seems to really like buns," Xu Wanwan thought. "It does go well with her round face."
Just then, Ye Jinmeng came across an eating broadcast video on her phone. The sound of chewing in the video made Ye Jinmeng smack her lips.
Although Xu Wanwan still harbored immense hatred towards Ye Jinmeng accumulated from her previous life, from her observations over the summer until now, she had to admit that the Ye Jinmeng of this life was clearly different from the ruthless Ye Jinmeng she knew.
She appeared to enjoy eating. Her whole body was not as skinny as a bamboo pole like in the previous life, but rather plump in a proportional way that did not make her look fat. Instead, it made her look quite comfortable.
"If this really is a parallel universe, would the Ye family still be my relatives?" Xu Wanwan lowered her head as her heart suddenly ached.
Her foster parents passed away unfortunately when she was 13 years old. They were riding a motorcycle to go work outside and accidentally fell down a ravine.
Before that, her foster parents rarely came home since they always worked outside. She was raised eating at many different families' houses. The money for her schooling also came from her foster parents occasionally returning home to give some money to the village chief to help keep for her. How she wished she could act like a spoiled child in her parents' embrace like other children!
In her previous life, she finally had parents and an older brother, but before she could feel the warmth of having a family, everything was destroyed by Ye Jinmeng. What about in this life? Xu Wanwan dared not imagine it.
Xu Wanwan looked up at Ye Jinmeng again. If everything was different now, would that final tragedy still happen?
Xu Wanwan felt dizzy from all these guesses she was making. Ah, forget it. No more thinking about this. No matter what, since Heaven let her live another life, whether it was a so-called parallel world or not, she must live this life well.
So since she currently had no way to predict how things would unfold in the future, she might as well remain vigilant at all times. She should also build a good relationship with Ye Jinmeng, at least maintaining a superficial peaceful relationship. That way, even if Ye Jinmeng did turn evil like in the previous life, she could find a solution more quickly.
Ye Jinmeng felt Xu Wanwan's lingering gaze and broke out in goosebumps. Her scalp even tingled slightly.
She sat up and glanced at her watch. 11:30. Time to go to the cafeteria for lunch.
Taking a deep breath to pluck up her courage, she politely asked Xu Wanwan, "Uh, do you want to go to the cafeteria for lunch together?"
"Sure."
Huh? She agreed so readily?
"My name is Xu Wanwan and I'm also a Fashion Design major."
"Oh? Um...okay. I'm Ye Jinmeng."
"Mm."
There was a brief moment of awkwardness...
"Uh, Wanwan, what do you want to eat? Our school has lots of delicious food like grilled fish, large plates of chicken, braised chicken in brown sauce, spicy hot pot, all kinds of stir-fried dishes..."
"Anything is fine with me. Since I just got here, I'm not too familiar with things yet, so why don't you take me around and introduce some stuff to me, senior sister?" Xu Wanwan casually suggested before Ye Jinmeng could finish speaking.
Although Ye Jinmeng felt confused by Xu Wanwan's sudden change in attitude, she decided not to dwell on it too much. So she readily agreed, "Sure! Then for lunch, let me treat you to the braised chicken in brown sauce from the second cafeteria. It's the most delicious one I've ever eaten. After we eat, I'll give you a tour of the campus..."
