The Mistress Is Reborn As The Fiancée

Chapter 19: Angels Are Supposed To Wear White

The morning sunlight streamed through the windows of the dining room, casting a warm glow on the assembled family. The aroma of freshly brewed tea and savory breakfast dishes filled the air, a familiar comfort to Noelle. She sat at the table, a sense of quiet determination settling within her. It was time to make an announcement.

"Halmeoni," she began, her voice clear and steady, "I would like to bring someone to visit tomorrow."

A ripple of interest spread through the room. Her grandmother's eyes lit up, a warm smile spreading across her face. "That is wonderful, Noelle," she said, her voice filled with delight. "Who is this special person?"

Before Noelle could answer, a barrage of questions erupted from Uncle Vernon, his wife and Ma-Ri.

"Who is this person, Noelle?" Uncle Vernon asked, his voice laced with curiosity.

"Is it a friend?" Ma-Ri inquired, her eyes narrowed slightly.

"Is it a man?" Uncle Vernon asked, his voice laced with a hint of suspicion.

"Is it someone important?" Aunt Alice nterjected, her voice sharp.

Grandmother raised a hand, silencing the eager inquiries. "That is enough!" she exclaimed, her voice firm. "Leave Noelle alone. You will all see this person when they come tomorrow."

Noelle smiled gratefully at her grandmother. "Thank you, Grandmother," she said, her voice filled with appreciation.

She stood up, her movements graceful and composed. "I have to go to the studio, I am already late." she said, her voice laced with a hint of anticipation. "I have a lot of practice to do."

She bowed respectfully to her grandmother and the rest of her family, then turned and left the dining room, her footsteps echoing softly on the wooden floor.

As she drove to the studio, her mind was filled with a sense of purpose. She was determined to make her upcoming performance a success, to prove to herself and to everyone else that she was capable of achieving her dreams.

The morning air was crisp and refreshing, the sunlight sparkling on the dew-kissed leaves. Noelle rolled down her window, letting the cool breeze caress her face. She felt a sense of freedom, a sense of liberation. Maybe because she was going to bring her husband home. She chuckled as she imagined everyone's faces.

Suddenly, a large black SUV appeared in her rearview mirror, its headlights glaring. It accelerated, closing the distance between them. Noelle's heart pounded in her chest. She knew instinctively that something was wrong.

She slowed down and tilted to the side to give way for the car to drive ahead of her, but the SUV swerved, slamming into the side of her car, sending it veering off the road. Noelle shrieked, while her hands tightened on the steering wheel, her knuckles white. She tried to regain control of the car, but it was too late.

The SUV rammed into her again, harder this time, sending her car spinning. The world blurred, the trees and sky a dizzying kaleidoscope. Then, a sickening lurch, and the car plunged off the edge of the road, tumbling down a steep embankment.

The impact was brutal, the car crumpling like a tin can. Noelle's body was thrown against the steering wheel, her head slamming against the side window. The world went black.

When she regained consciousness, she was trapped, her body pinned beneath the mangled wreckage of her car. The air was thick with the smell of gasoline and smoke. She could feel the blood trickling down her forehead, the sharp pain radiating through her body.

She looked around, her eyes filled with a sense of dread. The car was a twisted mess of metal and glass, a stark reminder of the violence she had just endured. She knew instinctively that Ma-Ri was behind this.

She closed her eyes, a wave of sadness washing over her. She thought of her grandmother, her dreams. She had so much to live for, so much to accomplish. But now, it seemed, her life was about to end. She wondered why she had been allowed a rebirth if she was just going to end up dead without even getting even with the people who had targeted her all the while.

She felt a sense of resignation, a quiet acceptance of her fate. She had always known that Ma-Ri was dangerous, that she would stop at nothing to get what she wanted. But she had thought that she had some time before Ma-Ri got desperate, it seemed that being reborn had accelerated things.

As she drifted in and out of consciousness, she saw a figure approaching through the shattered windshield. It was tall and slender, and the light behind it made it seem to glow. Noelle thought sadly that she was hallucinating. That she was dying.

"An angel?" she whispered, her voice barely audible. "But angels are supposed to wear white."

Then, darkness claimed her, and she knew no more
