The misunderstood genius

Chapter 19: Chapter 19: The Veil's Invitation

The duel had ended, but the storm it caused was just beginning.

Joe barely had time to comprehend his "victory" before a swarm of students, professors, and nobles gathered around him.

"Joe Hoeyol, that was… astonishing!"

"You must have trained under an ancient master, right?"

"What's your secret technique called? That instant paralysis—was it forbidden magic?"

Joe, standing in the middle of the chaos, forced a smile. How was he supposed to answer questions about techniques he didn't even use?

Meanwhile, from the shadows, Rin Evernight, the spy for The Veil, watched closely. She had come to Eldoria Academy with a mission: observe Joe Hoeyol, determine if he was a threat, and report back.

But after witnessing the duel… she had reached a different conclusion.

Joe Hoeyol wasn't just powerful. He was unstoppable.

That night, as Joe staggered back to his dorm, exhausted beyond belief, he found something unexpected—a sealed black envelope on his desk. The wax insignia was unmistakable.

The Veil.

With shaking hands, he opened it.

"Joe Hoeyol,

You have proven yourself beyond all doubt.

Your power exceeds the limits of human understanding.

The world does not deserve you—but we do.

Come to the ruins beneath Eldoria at midnight.

Join us. Rule with us.

Or oppose us… and perish."

Joe read the message twice. Then a third time.

Then he promptly face-planted onto his bed.

"WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING?!"
