Chapter 1: Prologue
The storm was not scary to him, when he stood on the shore of the ocean and looked ahead with tearful eyes. The waves looked like water demons that took everything within their reach. Ready to feed the underwater darkness, they waited for victims like this defenseless boy who was in total disarray.
At that moment, he saw no hope for himself. He wanted to disappear, once and for all. To free himself from this place, to escape from this world and from the lives of people who suffered because of him.
He was largely responsible for all these people being in this terrifying place, where nothing was real. Trapped on a deserted island, experiencing horror every day, with no hope of rescue... left to themselves, fighting for survival against a murderer who should finally disappear.
He took a step forward, ready to end it all, but he again did not want to let him go. He grabbed him from behind and held him tightly in his arms, sobbing.
- Noah, please, stay with me, brother, don't do this to me... don't give up. Eventually, it will all end, we will leave this place, I promise you that.
The blond boy closed his eyelids, tears flowing from under them. He lowered his head, crying quietly. He was unable to respond to his words.
They stayed in this position for some time, crying in silence.
- Mason, what are you doing? Go back inside! It's dangerous! - Nancy shouted, watching him from halfway down the beach.
- Just look. She doesn't see me because I'm a murderer. They all hate me and treat me like air. You have to let me go, end it all - Noah said in a weak voice.
- No! - Mason's firm voice and tighter grip were a sign that he would not let him do it at any cost. - You are my only brother, I will not lose you, I will protect you despite who you are!
- Let me go, please...
- No! - He began to forcefully drag him to the beach, which was a hindrance because Noah tried to break away from him.
- Leave me alone! Get away from me, Mason! Don't make decisions for me!
- No! I'll bring you back home, at any cost! Everything will work out.
- Nothing will work out. You know that very well. Father hates me, he won't let me come home. He sees me as a monster, a freak. Someone like me shouldn't be his son anymore. He has to take care of his image.
Mason had had enough of Noah struggling. He threw him on the sand, preventing him from moving.
- Listen to me, idiot. You know very well that he's just talking like that, but he cares about you very much, and I'm sure he'll protect you too. You're his son.
Noah turned his head to the side, unable to hold back his tears.
- Nothing will be the same. I don't want to go back to reality, I'd rather stay here, for all eternity.
The brunette couldn't take it anymore and hit him on the cheek to make him come to his senses.
- I never want to hear such words from your mouth again! - he shouted at him, looking furious.
Nancy, watching him, was worried about his behavior. It was the first time she had seen him in such a state.
Looking over her shoulder, it seemed to her that among the trees, in the place where the abandoned hotel was on the hill, that she heard a terrifying sound from there. It was a scream, but it definitely didn't belong to a human.
- I think we're in danger again - she said quietly, massaging her shoulders.
