Chapter 6: Chapter 6
Kiran was upside-down in his room, his feet sticking to the ceiling as he tackled his homework, a quirky method he adopted to keep his mind sharp. "It's been a week since Hammerhead has been in jail, and Queens has been extremely quiet—like seriously quiet," he mused, scribbling down answers while occasionally glancing at his phone.
"I'm finally catching up on all my missed assignments, and then there's Gwen... Are we just hanging out, or are we actually dating?" With a sudden thought, he dropped quickly, landing on his feet with a thud. "Whoa, that was close! I really need to get a hang of that," he chuckled to himself, picturing how funny it would be if someone else were around to see it.
Just then, his homemade police scanner crackled to life, announcing a car chase in progress. "Finally," Kiran exclaimed, his heart racing with excitement. He opened his closet to retrieve his suit, only to spot a neatly folded costume accompanied by a note. "Since your old one got torn, I made you a new one. – Gwen." Kiran couldn't help but smile.
"I don't deserve her," he muttered, feeling a swell of gratitude and affection. Meanwhile, in the streets of Queens, chaos erupted as a sleek black sports car sped through the intersections, pursued by a fleet of police cars. Inside the vehicle, a group of four men were in a frenzy. "Hurry up and lose them! I don't want to lose this big score!" shouted the brown-haired man in the passenger seat.
"Shut up and let me focus!" the driver shot back, his knuckles white on the steering wheel. The green-haired man in the back was already shooting at the pursuing police cars' tires. "Watch where you're aiming! My ten-year-old niece can aim better than that!" the black-haired man retorted, trying to keep his composure.
Just then, Kiran swung into action, soaring through the air in his new costume. "Woohoo!" he shouted, exhilarated by the thrill of the chase. He landed deftly on the hood of the speeding car and tapped on the window. "Hey, I think you're breaking several speeding laws! Any chance you'd consider pulling over?"
"Great, it's the Bug!" the brown-haired man exclaimed, panicking as he pulled out a gun and aimed it at Kiran. In a flash, Kiran dodged, leaping onto the roof of the car and peering into the driver's side window. "We can solve this quickly if you just pull over!" he yelled, adrenaline pumping. But in that moment, he spotted a small child running into the street after a rolling ball.
"Hold that thought! I'll be right back!" Kiran called out before performing a somersault, launching himself toward the child just in time to yank him to safety. "Happy safe travels!" he shouted, crafting a giant web to catch falling taxis and trucks, averting disaster.
However, as he swung back to confront the criminals, he realized his web fluid canister was empty. "No, no, no! Not a good time to run out!" he exclaimed, plummeting toward the ground. He managed to land on a fire escape, but the impact sent him careening into a pile of trash cans.
"Ouch," he groaned, slowly getting to his feet while clutching his side. Kiran stumbled out of the alleyway, spotting a subway station nearby. Minutes later, he found himself on a packed train, still in his costume, as people held their noses and snapped photos. "Great, I just got this suit. Gwen is going to be mad, and I need to make more web fluid," he thought.
In a bustling bike shop, a group of rugged men clad in leather biker jackets gathered around, their laughter filling the air as they tinkered with their motorcycles. "When is the boss coming back?" one of them inquired, wiping grease off his hands.
"You know how he is. He always celebrates after a job is done," another responded with a knowing smile. "Oh yeah, I forgot," he replied, returning to his bike as the camaraderie enveloped them. Meanwhile, in a dimly lit apartment room, five women were sprawled lazily across a bed, the remnants of a wild night lingering. A large, shirtless man stood up, stretching before making his way to the bathroom.
Just then, his phone buzzed insistently. "What?" he answered gruffly. "Boss, we got a new contractor who wants to meet you." The voice on the other end crackled with excitement. "Alright, I'm on my way," the man replied, before hanging up. At Midtown High, Kiran was in gym class, the warm sun shining down as he played soccer with his classmates.
"Okay, Kiran, this should be easy. Just don't show off your super spider powers," he reminded himself, taking his position on the field. "Hey everyone! Don't worry about Walker over there; he can't even kick a ball!" taunted Flash, sending ripples of laughter through the group. Kiran grinned, "Okay, maybe just show off a little." As the game commenced, Flash sprinted with the ball, effortlessly dodging opponents until Kiran, with a swift move, stole it from him, sending it straight into the goal.
"What's wrong, Flash? Aren't you supposed to be our star player?" Kiran teased, the crowd erupting in cheers and laughter as Flash's face reddened in frustration. Kiran's teammate passed him the ball again, and as he dribbled towards the goal, he noticed Flash and a few others closing in. "I could get past them, but I don't want to blow my cover," he thought, opting instead to pass the ball to an open teammate. Just as he did, he got tackled, but the teammate scored, winning the game. As the group helped Kiran up, Flash sneered, "What was that, Walker? Trying to show me up in front of the cheerleaders?"
"Okay, that's enough, you two. Break it up," the coach intervened, and Flash stalked off, grumbling. Kiran was about to follow suit when the coach stopped him. "That was some nice moves out there, Kiran. Ever think about joining the team?" Kiran chuckled nervously, "The soccer team? Hehe, no, it hasn't even crossed my mind."
"Then you should think about it now and join the team," the coach encouraged. "I'll have to think about it," Kiran replied, uncertainty flickering in his eyes. "Okay, but don't let an opportunity like this slip away, Kiran. You have your future to think about," the coach said, walking away and leaving Kiran in deep contemplation.
After changing back into his casual clothes, Kiran stepped out of the locker room and spotted Gwen. "Hey, Gwen," he greeted, feeling a flutter of nerves as she chuckled and kissed him on the cheek. "Walk to class?" she asked, and Kiran fell in step beside her.
"So, the coach said he wants me on the soccer team," Kiran revealed, glancing at her for her reaction. "Are you sure you can even join, given how busy you are with being Spider-Man, the debate team, and all that makeup work?" Gwen questioned, concern shadowing her face.
"I guess you're right. But, I mean, there isn't really a threat right now, and I'm almost done with my makeup work. Plus, I'm thinking about quitting the debate team since I'm hardly ever there," Kiran responded, a hint of frustration in his tone.
"The second smartest student in the school leaving the debate team? Good luck getting that trophy then," Gwen teased, her laughter lightening the mood. "Umm, Gwen, there's also something I need to tell you," Kiran began, his heart racing as she turned her head, curiosity sparkling in her eyes.
In science class of Midtown High, Kiran sat with a furrowed brow, his mind racing with thoughts of his latest web-slinging escapade. Leaning forward, he whispered to Gwen, who was focused on her notes.
"So, are you mad about the suit or me letting those guys go?" he inquired, a hint of worry in his voice. Gwen shot him a sharp glance. "No, I'm mad because you forgot to refill your web fluid! What if you fell higher? You need to be more careful. I mean, you're a genius—can't you increase the storage?" Kiran stumbled over his words, "I… I mean, I can." Just then, their teacher, Mr. Walker, called out,
"Mr. Walker, how about you come up here and solve this." With a resigned sigh, Kiran stood up, making his way to the board as his mind raced with thoughts of Gwen's concern. Meanwhile, down the street in Astoria, a sleek black car turned onto Alderton Street. Inside, May, a red-haired girl donning headphones, was oblivious to the world outside as she bobbed her head to the beat.
"Hey, May, I used to live around here and went to Midtown High," her dad remarked, trying to spark a conversation. "Yeah, that's cool, Dad. But I was just okay at Baxter High School," May replied, her tone indifferent. Her mom, sitting in the passenger seat, chimed in, "You could have stayed there, but you broke that girl's nose."
"I mean, it was kinda cool, and she did deserve it… but it was wrong, and you should never do it again," her dad said, giving her a stern look. They pulled up in front of a charming two-story house. As May stepped out, she removed her headphones, just in time to see Kiran walk into the house next door.
"Oh, that boy's cute," her mom teased, making May blush. "Mom!" May squeaked in embarrassment as she hurried inside. "Hehehe… Hey Pete, you need help?" her mom asked, glancing at her husband. "Nah, I got this," Peter replied, lifting a heavy box with ease. Back in Kiran's room, he was hand-washing his suit, frustrated by the lingering garbage smell.
"What gets garbage smell out of a spandex suit?" he muttered, exasperated. He turned on his computer and opened the news. "This is your host for the Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson," echoed the familiar voice, and Kiran stiffened as he listened to JJJ denounce Spider-Man as a menace.
"Seriously, it's like that guy's my number one fan or something," Kiran said, rolling his eyes. Just then, hunger struck, and he wandered downstairs, eyeing a meatball in the fridge when he heard the front door open. "Hey, Aunt," Kiran greeted as his aunt entered with their new neighbors, Peter, MJ, and May.
"Oh, Kiran, have you met our new neighbors, the Parkers?" his aunt asked, beaming. Kiran hesitated, then stepped forward. "Nope, nice to meet y'all," he replied, trying to make a quick exit upstairs. "Kiran, give at least a proper welcome," his aunt insisted, stopping him in his tracks. "Okay… Nice to meet you, I'm Kiran Walker," he introduced himself, shaking hands with Peter. "I'm Peter Parker," the man replied, and Kiran's eyes widened.
"Wait, Peter Parker as in the guy who owns Parker Industries? One of the most global aerospace, defense, security, and advanced technologies companies in the city? I always wanted to meet you… Hummm… Sir," Kiran stammered, desperately trying to sound composed.
"It's good to meet a bright-minded young man," Peter said, glancing at Kiran's advanced textbooks scattered around the table. "This is our daughter May. She'll be going to Midtown High tomorrow. Hope you'll show her around," Mary Jane added. "Yeah, of course," Kiran replied.
In the bustling bike shop tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. The large gray-skinned figure, strode confidently through the aisles. A flustered employee approached him, relief washing over his face. "Boss, finally! You're here. The guys who are here for the deal are in your office." Tombstone nodded, his reputation preceding him as he made his way to the back room.
Inside, he found a sharply dressed man sitting at his desk, exuding an air of confidence. "It's finally good to meet you, Mr. Tombstone," the man said, opening a sleek briefcase to reveal a well-organized folder. Tombstone raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What's this?" he asked, flipping open the folder to reveal a striking image of a red liquid contained in a glass vase.
"That is what my boss is paying you to get," the man replied, his tone serious. Tombstone examined the photo closely. "This is in the Parker Industries building. For something like this, your boss must be paying big." "Yeah, $100 million," the man confirmed, a hint of pride in his voice. A grin spread across Tombstone's face as he extended his hand, sealing the deal. "Pleasure doing business."
Meanwhile, in a cluttered garage nearby, Kiran was deep in his own world, tinkering with a peculiar gadget. He held a metallic sphere in his hand, pressing a red button with curiosity. In an instant, the device erupted, sending him flying backward and coating him in a sticky web-like substance. "Too much force," Kiran muttered, his voice strained as he shook off the remnants.
"Great, there goes that wasted web fluid. I better head to school before they close," he thought, suddenly aware of the time. After a few quick motions of cleaning up, Kiran dashed out the door, his mind racing with thoughts of the vial of web fluid and the looming school day ahead. Pulling out his phone, he hesitated over a text to Gwen, trying to find the right words.
Just as he was about to send it, a call from Michael interrupted him. "Sup, Michael," Kiran answered, trying to sound casual. "Kiran, listen! I need you and Gwen to go on a double date with me and Liz Allen," Michael said urgently. "Wait, what? Me and Gwen aren't even dating! And how did you get a date with one of the most popular girls in school?" Kiran blurted out, bewildered.
"Not the time for questions! Just ask Gwen to come to the movies," Michael urged before hanging up. "Damn him. First, I gotta get that web fluid," Kiran thought, determination settling in as he sprinted towards Midtown. Minutes later, Kiran found himself navigating the school's ventilation system, expertly avoiding the watchful eyes of the security guard.
He dropped down into the science room, quickly retrieving his phone to make a call. In her room, Gwen was nestled in her pajamas, buried under a mountain of homework when her phone buzzed. "Hello?" she answered, curiosity piqued. "Uhhh… Gwen… I was wondering… if you wanted to go on a double date with me and Michael. No, I mean you'll be going with me, but Michael and his date are coming," Kiran stammered nervously, trying to sound casual as he clung to the ceiling.
"Yeah, sure! Just text me the address and location. Gotta go, bye!" Gwen replied, excitement bubbling in her voice before she hung up, letting out a joyous scream into her pillow. Back on the school rooftop, Kiran's heart raced with exhilaration. "Yes! I did it! I just had to be assertive," he exclaimed, feeling a rush of confidence.
A/N. Sup guys. I wanted this chapter to focus more on Kiran then him being Spiderman. Next chapter will having fighting and will be longer and finally him and Gwen are going on a date. As the greatest comic book writer and editor once said. Excelsior!
