The Omega Is Pregnant

chapter 67

Tae-seo’s conversation with Chairman Kang Hak-jung stretched late into the evening. When Tae-seo clung to him, insisting that they should eat dinner together, the chairman eventually relented, pretending to be reluctant. As a result, only the secretaries had to scramble to adjust the schedule.

Even after dinner, time slipped away, and when Kang Hak-jung finally stood up to leave, Tae-seo trailed behind him closely, unwilling to let him go.
"My grandsons are all quiet and dull, but you..."
Tae-seo’s eyes sparkled with anticipation, wondering what the chairman was about to say. He had kept the old man engaged in conversation for hours, and yet, Kang Hak-jung had listened without once cutting him off.

"There’s never a dull moment with you."
"Can I take that as a compliment? I had a great time too. Honestly, I’m not usually this talkative. But for some reason, being around you makes me want to talk more."
Tae-seo spoke rapidly, leaving no room for breath, and Kang Hak-jung couldn’t help but laugh. After only a few hours together, this boy was already acting more affectionate than his own grandson. He couldn’t possibly dislike him.

"I’ll come again tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?"
Tae-seo blinked in surprise at the chairman’s unexpected remark. The atmosphere suddenly shifted as if he had just asked something ridiculous. Realizing the misunderstanding, Tae-seo quickly waved his hands.

"Oh, no, it’s not that! I’m being discharged tomorrow. So next time, I’ll come visit you instead. I’m sorry I haven’t come to see you first."
"Just focus on your own health."
Kang Hak-jung clicked his tongue and scanned Tae-seo from head to toe. Feeling slightly embarrassed, Tae-seo smiled sheepishly. Given that his own carelessness had landed him in the hospital, he had no right to argue.

"And where do you plan to go after your discharge?"
Tae-seo tilted his head, not quite understanding the intent behind the question. He hesitated before answering, unsure if this was the response the chairman was expecting.
"Home, I guess?"

The answer seemed to satisfy Kang Hak-jung, as he didn’t press further. Instead, he gestured toward his surrounding secretaries with a flick of his fingers. Tae-seo naturally followed his gaze, locking eyes with the secretaries, who all bowed politely in greeting. Among them, he lingered on the one who had given him the bento box, sharing a brief smile.
"I’ll inform my secretary’s office. If you ever need to see me, just reach out. I’ll send a car."
"So that means I won’t have to wait to see you?"

"Obviously."
Kang Hak-jung muttered as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Telling him to visit whenever he wanted, without worrying about his schedule, left Tae-seo stunned.
"Are you sure it’s okay to like me this much? We’ve only met a few times, and you’re already showing me so much affection. Not that I’m complaining!"
"Don’t make a fuss. I do the same for my grandsons."

The implication was that Tae-seo was only receiving this treatment because he was Kang Se-heon’s Omega. But Tae-seo didn’t care—he was delighted all the same.
"Then why are you so happy? Even though my grandsons know this, they never visit."
"Ah, so you’re saying I should come with Se-heon? Got it, I’ll bring him along."

"I never said that."
"Then we’ll come together. And once Blessing is born, all three of us will visit."
"…Fine."

It seemed Kang Hak-jung had no choice but to concede. Regardless of how cheeky Tae-seo was, there was no reason to refuse. Even if the boy was just saying it to be polite, the fact that he was offering to visit was reason enough to accept.
Then, as if something had just occurred to him, the chairman spoke.
"Hmm… Even if you don’t visit me, we’ll be seeing each other again soon."

Tae-seo blinked, failing to grasp the meaning. Kang Hak-jung, however, simply nodded to himself and turned to his secretary, making a brief remark about adjusting his schedule.
"When exactly are you talking about?"
"We’ll see. Until then, take care."

Tae-seo had asked, but the chairman didn’t provide a clear answer. Instead, he simply bid him farewell and left. Watching him disappear from view, Tae-seo tilted his head in confusion before eventually returning to his bed.
"What could he have meant? When exactly are we supposed to meet again?"
If he were visiting Kang Se-heon, that would make sense—but what was the chairman talking about?

Without finding an answer, Tae-seo eventually drifted into sleep.
Morning arrived, and Tae-seo was still groggy from sleep when he replayed the conversation he had with the chairman in his head. While he was still half-lost in thought, Kang Se-heon arrived.
"Let’s go home."

****
As the car moved, Tae-seo leaned against the window, rolling it halfway down to let the wind in. His eyes remained heavy with sleep, but he enjoyed the sensation nonetheless.

Even in the hospital, he had been able to see the sky and the weather through the window. On rainy days, the humid scent would seep in, and on clear days, the sunlight would spill into his room, warming his sleeping face.
Because of that, he never felt particularly confined while staying in the hospital. Thanks to the chairman, he had been in a private VIP suite, so there was never a sense of being cramped. But now that he was actually outside, the experience felt entirely different.
"I guess that’s why people say you should go out every now and then."

Tae-seo inhaled deeply, enjoying the fresh air. Kang Se-heon, who had been on his phone, turned toward him upon hearing his words. The subtle shift in his attention was immediately noticeable in the rearview mirror to Han, the secretary who was driving. He had been quietly observing how Se-heon reacted to every little thing Tae-seo said.
"Do you want to stop somewhere and take a walk? Han, is there a park nearby?"
"I’ll find one."

"No, it’s fine."
Tae-seo quickly waved his hands at the unexpected suggestion.
"We can always go out later. There's no need to stop now. Just keep driving."

Han glanced at him through the mirror. Seeing that Tae-seo genuinely meant it and wasn’t just being polite, he gave a small nod and kept driving. When Tae-seo noticed the car wasn’t changing direction, he leaned back against his seat and turned to Kang Se-heon.
"By the way, this isn’t the way to my house."
"We are going home."

When Kang Se-heon insisted they were indeed headed in the right direction, Tae-seo took another glance outside. But the road didn’t change, and his confusion only deepened.
"This isn’t really the way to our house, is it...? Are we turning around to stop by your brother’s place?"

Tae-seo asked innocently, unsure of what to make of the situation. Se-heon tucked his phone away, having cut off the report that was coming through while Tae-seo had been looking outside the window. Tae-seo, now unsure whether he had said something wrong, hesitated to speak again. He hadn't expected that they wouldn't even stop by the park as planned.
"What did you talk about with the chairman yesterday?"
Se-heon didn’t take his phone out again as the car continued moving. Instead, he shifted his focus to Tae-seo, asking about the conversation with the chairman.

Tae-seo, unable to refuse the attention, opened his mouth reluctantly. After all, who wouldn’t enjoy the attention being given to him?

****

Tae-seo, thinking they were just making a quick «N.o.v.e.l.i.g.h.t» stop, looked back at Han, the secretary, feeling a bit puzzled. He had handed his bag to Se-heon and left it with him.
"Han, you’ve finished work for the day, right?"
Tae-seo wondered if Han was supposed to drop him off at Se-heon’s place. However, it wasn’t quite that simple. Se-heon was holding onto the bag he had just given him.

"The house I’m talking about is right here."
As Se-heon pressed the code into the door lock, the sound of the door unlocking echoed loudly. Tae-seo instantly understood what that meant and stepped inside. It reminded him of that time when he had barged into Se-heon’s house without warning.
It wasn’t unfamiliar, but he couldn’t help wondering why Se-heon was calling this “our house.”

"You want me to stay here? Did your brother tell you to bring me? Are you planning to live together?"
As Tae-seo spoke, doubt began to rise in his mind. He squinted, looking at Se-heon, who had led him here.
"Your parents are too busy to take care of you, so they asked me to."

Se-heon explained, his voice steady as he explained that Tae-seo’s parents had worried about him, especially after his collapse. They knew that Se-heon would prioritize Tae-seo’s safety, so they decided it was better for him to stay with Se-heon.
"But I’m an adult now..."
Tae-seo muttered under his breath, annoyed, but he didn’t press the issue further. He knew that after worrying his parents, he wasn’t in a position to argue about being looked after.

"Isn’t that actually a good thing?"
Se-heon seemed to see straight through Tae-seo’s thoughts, and his words struck close to the heart.
"You get to live with me again."

It sounded as if Se-heon was implying he had wanted this too. Tae-seo narrowed his eyes, feeling a mix of disbelief and suspicion. Was Se-heon secretly happy about living together, even though it had been his parents’ suggestion?
Tae-seo had hoped to hear the sweet words he longed for from Se-heon. Words like:
"Let’s live together, Tae-seo."

"I want to be with you."
"Yoon Tae-seo, a phone call isn’t enough. I just want to be with you."
But instead, Se-heon had just given him practical reasons. Still, Tae-seo felt a flutter in his chest, hoping that one day those words would come.

"Fine. But don’t you have something to say to me?"
Tae-seo teasingly scratched his ear as if to nudge him into speaking. Now seemed like the perfect time to hear the words he had been waiting for.
"I do have something to say... Would you like to hear it?"

Instead of answering, Tae-seo moved closer to Se-heon’s ear, daring him to speak. Se-heon leaned down slightly, bringing his mouth close to Tae-seo’s ear.
Tae-seo felt Se-heon’s breath tickling his ear, and his shoulders jerked slightly. But he didn’t pull back, determined to hear what Se-heon had to say.
"Did your grades come out?"

Tae-seo froze. What happened to the heart-pounding words he had been hoping for? Instead, Se-heon had just casually asked about his grades, completely catching him off guard.
Tae-seo couldn’t help but feel that it wasn’t the moment he had imagined.
