Chapter 9: Chapter Nine: Truth Revealed
Finn stepped out of the glowing blue portal and into a dense forest. He tightened his grip on the sword Eric had given him.
"Where are we?" Finn muttered.
"We're at the outskirts of the vampire's camp" Eric replied calmly, stepping forward.
"This is where they train the mini vampires bred for blood and war. If we make too much noise, we'll draw the attention of the elders." Eric added.
Finn's eye darted around as he scanned the forest. He could hear the low hissing and sound of claws scraping bark.
"We're being watched." Finn whispered.
Eric nodded. "Good. You're learning. But don't speak again–use your blade."
A shadow flashed across the tree–Then another.
"Here they come." Eric muttered.
Suddenly, a mini vampire lunged from the shadows, fangs bared, claws outstretched. Finn reacted instantly, slashing upward. The creature screeched as his blade tore through its chest, ash spilling into the air.
"Wow! Not bad." Finn smirked.
Another came at him from the left, Finn ducked, then spun, cutting clean through its neck.
"They're testing you." Eric said as he flicked his staff, sending a burst of blue fire into the treetops. Several mini vampires screamed and dissolved into the air.
"Don't waste energy. The real fight is ahead."
"How many more of them?" Finn screamed, his balde slashing two vampires together.
"Enough to keep us busy until dawn." Eric replied softly.
Suddenly, the battle stood still. Everything went mute–no more vampires attacking.
"What just happened?" Finn whispered.
"Quiet." Eric said.
Then, from the shadows, a taller figure stepped forward—this one looks different from the others. He wore a blood-red cloak. His fangs glinted as he smirked at them.
"Witch Knight." It snarled.
"Sylas!" Eric muttered.
"You're the one I came for."
"You've come too far, Witch Knight." Sylas– vampire hissed. "The Black Pact are looking for you and the half blood."
It continued. "I will take the boys' head and that of yours to them."
"Then, you must kill me first." Eric muttered.
"No. You want both heads?... You must kill us first." Finn interfered.
"Easy task." It hissed. Then, it lunged.
Finn moved faster than the creature could react, slamming him into a tree. His eyes glowed red as he stared into the vampire's face.
"Where is the Black Pact?" Finn growled, claws digging into the vampire's throat.
Sylas let out a laugh. "Even if I told you, you'd never reach them alive."
Eric stepped closer, his voice cold. "Tell us… or I'll let the boy here tear you apart piece by piece."
"Do you think I'm afraid of you?" Sylas groaned.
"Talk...." Finn muttered.
"Or else what?" It hissed as he pushed Finn backwards.
"Poor boy. Do you think you could stop me?" Sylas snarled.
Eric interfered. "That's enough, Sylas!"
"Tell us where they are."
"No! witch Knight."
"Then, I'll do it forcefully."
"Do you think so?" It smirked.
The vampire lunged at Eric with claws outstretched, fangs bared to strike. But before it could even reach him, Eric slammed his staff into the ground.
Blue runes lit up beneath the vampire's feet, and thick chains shot out of the ground. They coiled tightly around its arms and legs, pulling it to the ground.
"Witch tricks." the vampire snarled.
"You can't hold me for long!"
"I told you sylas, I'll do it the hard way."
"That's amazing!" Finn chuckled.
"You're not going anywhere." Eric said calmly. "We're taking you with us."
Finn stepped forward, his sword in hand.
"Take him back?" Finn growled.
"Why not finish him here?"
"Because he knows where the Black Pact are." Eric replied.
"We need answers first."
Finn took a quick glance at sylas who was struggling to break free from the chain Eric casted on him.
Eric created a portal. The glowing blue circle opened wide. He stepped forward.
"Let's go." Eric muttered.
---
Eric slammed the vampire into the stone floor, the glowing chains still wrapped tightly around its body. Finn stood nearby, his gaze fixed on sylas, the demon fire in his veins stirring up.
"Talk!" Eric commanded.
"Where are they hiding?"
The vampire spat on the ground. "Do you think I'd betray them? Kill me if you want. I won't say a word."
Finn stepped forward, his face shifted.
"You're going to talk." he said coldly.
The vampire sneered. "You don't scare me, half-blood."
Finn's claws sharpened as he grabbed the vampire by the face, lifting its head slightly. The vampire's smirk faltered as Finn's grip tightened.
"You're about to feel what death tastes like." Finn growled.
"Last chance." Eric warned.
The vampire trembled.
"Alright… I'll tell you." It groaned.
Finn still didn't loose his grip. "Where?"
"They're hiding… at the Grave wood forest. Beneath the ruins of Grave Mourn Castle." The vampire's voice crack.
"That's where the Black Pact resides. But you won't make it there alive." It added.
"Good." Finn's voice firm.
Before the vampire could utter a word, Finn let out the golden blade from it leather.
"Wait—!" Sylas screamed.
Shing!
Finn swung the blade, severing its head. Ash and smoke erupted from its body as the head hit the floor.
The chamber fell silent.
Eric stepped forward, his staff glowing faintly.
"Nice strike. But you shouldn't have done that so quick."
"It might've known more." Eric added.
"He told us enough." Finn replied coldly, wiping blood from the edge of his blade.
Eric glanced down at the pile of ash where the vampire's body had been.
"Well...Fine." Eric said, sighing.
"Gravewood forest will be your next battlefield." he muttered glancing at Finn's shoulder.
"So fast?" Finn asked.
"Yes. We need to hunt them before they get to us." Eric replied.
"But first… we'll need allies."
"Allies?" Finn asked, his grip tightened on his blade.
Eric nodded. "We'll visit the werewolves camp next. But before that…"
Eric's hand tightened on Finn's shoulder, his expression unreadable.
"We'll need a swordsman."
"A swordsman?" Finn muttered. His grip tightened.
"And who… who is this person?"
"Your best friend." Eric replied.
