The Path To The Goodhood

Chapter 1: A Debt of Blood

A top the majestic Red Wine Mountain,

Two figures stood facing each other. The air was heavy with tension as they sized each other up. One man had jet-black hair and piercing black eyes, his hand grasping the hilt of the crimson blade. The other, with snow-white hair and brown eyes, held his blade in his right hand, his gaze cold and calculating.

The white-haired man, Yun Lin, pointed his left index finger at the black-haired man, his voice dripping with disdain. "Who are you, and how did you manage to reach the peak of my mountain?"

The black-haired man smiled wistfully. "You don't remember me, do you? I was just ten years old when we first met. You murdered my father, the Lord, and massacred our entire clan. I'm Feng Yun, the son of the Evil Swordsman Feng Lin."

Yun Lin's eyes widened, and he took a step back, his grip on his blade tightening. "S-son of the Evil Swordsman?"

Feng Yun's smile grew wider. "Yes, that's right. And before you ask how I survived that day and managed to reach this point, let's just say I'd rather not share those stories with you. As for how I reached the top of your mountain, I think you already know the answer."

Yun Lin's thoughts racing, he realized that Feng Yun's aura was that of a peak Nascent Soul Realm cultivator, while he himself was only at the second layer of the Deity Transformation Realm. He wondered how Feng Yun had managed to bridge the gap between their cultivation levels.

"So, you're here for revenge?" Yun Lin asked, his voice laced with caution.

Feng Yun's smile turned cold and menacing. "Yes, I'm here to take your head and avenge my family and clansmen." He paused, his eyes blazing with determination. "Red Wine Sage, Yun Lin, mark my words: today is the day I will exact my revenge, and you will die."

With a fierce battle cry, Feng Yun charged towards Yun Lin, his crimson blade flashing in the sunlight. Yun Lin raised his own blade, and the two clashed in a shower of sparks. The sound of their blades colliding echoed through the mountain, a haunting melody that seemed to foreshadow the outcome of their battle.

Feng Yun took five steps back, his breathing steady, while Yun Lin took two steps back, his expression grave. "H-how did you manage to push me back?" Yun Lin asked, his voice tinged with surprise.

Feng Yun's laughter echoed through the mountain, a cold, mirthless sound. "That's a secret I'll never reveal to my enemy."

Yun Lin's face darkened, and he vanished, reappearing behind Feng Yun. His blade flashed in the sunlight as he struck, aiming for Feng Yun's shoulder. Feng Yun anticipated the attack and dodged, using his "Devil Footsteps" technique to avoid the blow.

As Yun Lin's blade bit into the air, Feng Yun reappeared behind him, his own blade poised for the killing strike. "You fell for it," Feng Yun said, his voice dripping with triumph.

Yun Lin's eyes widened as he realized his mistake. He raised his blade to block Feng Yun's attack, and the two blades clashed once more. The sound of their collision echoed through the mountain, a deafening crash that seemed to shake the very foundations of the earth.

Feng Yun took two steps back, his chest heaving with exertion. He raised his index finger, and a burst of sword energy shot towards Yun Lin, striking him in the stomach. Yun Lin's eyes widened in shock as he stumbled backward, his hand clutching at the gaping hole in his abdomen.

As Yun Lin lay dying, he looked up at Feng Yun with a mixture of shock and admiration. "H-how did you manage to use sword Qi that only experts in the Deity Transformation Realm can wield?"

Feng Yun stood tall, his eyes blazing with a fierce determination. He took deep breaths, his chest rising and falling with each inhale and exhale. A faint, enigmatic smile played on his lips as he replied, "Y-you asked me the question when we were fighting, and I told you it was my big secret."

Yun Lin's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with the implications. "What secret?" he pressed, his voice laced with a hint of desperation.

Feng Yun's smile grew wider, his eyes glinting with a cold, mirthless light. "The secret was simple," he said, his voice dripping with malice. "I took the Bloody Pill."

Yun Lin's eyes widened in horror as the truth dawned on him. "You mean the Bloody Pill, ha-ha-ha... " he trailed off, his laughter tinged with madness. "Now I understand everything."

Feng Yun's expression turned cold, his eyes flashing with a deadly intent. He raised his sword, the blade glinting in the fading light of day. "Remember what I said?" he asked, his voice low and menacing. "You are going to die today."

With a swift, deadly motion, Feng Yun plunged his sword into Yun Lin's heart. Yun Lin's eyes froze, his body going limp as he exhaled his final breath.

Feng Yun stood over Yun Lin's lifeless body, his chest heaving with exertion. He felt a wave of emotions wash over him—grief, anger, and a deep sense of satisfaction. He began to cry, his tears streaming down his face as he whispered, "Father, mother, and everyone, I avenged you; rest in peace."

As he reached out to pull his sword from Yun Lin's body, Feng Yun's tears suddenly turned red, and he felt a searing pain in his nose. He stumbled backward, his vision blurring as he realized the horrifying truth. "So these are the side effects of the pill I took," he whispered, his voice trembling with fear.

The Bloody Pill, a forbidden artifact rumored to grant immense power at a terrible cost, had exacted its price. Feng Yun felt his life force ebbing away, his vision fading to black as he collapsed onto the ground.
