The Peerless Emperor

Chapter 690 Immortal Realm

To become the master of Granny Huo, what does that mean?

After hearing these words, Lin Qian was quite shocked. Could it mean that, like controlling the Four Directions State, he was to control the entire Soul Martial Continent?

Lin Qian knew very well what controlling the Four Directions State entailed. He had not yet tried to control the entire Soul Martial Continent, and the thought of it filled him with a hint of anticipation.

However, Lin Qian quickly regained his composure, knowing it couldn't be that simple.

According to Granny Huo, others had come to this place before, including Yuan Xiang.

What on earth would bring them to this place?

At first, Lin Qian didn't understand, but now he knew. Those people who had come to this space probably were responding to Granny Huo's desire to find a master.

"Could it be that you've been seeking a master all this time, Granny Huo? Had those who came here before also tried?" After a moment, Lin Qian slowly spoke, asking the person before him.

Granny Huo had anticipated Lin Qian would guess this.

"Yes, if an Earth Spirit has a master, the situation would be entirely different, especially for the Soul Martial Continent," Granny Huo said with a smile while looking at Lin Qian, "A realm that harbours an Earth Spirit is immensely popular for the two magical properties of the Earth Spirit."

"One of these magical properties is the ability to enhance the concentration of Spiritual Energy, using the power of the Spiritual Energy itself to defend. For any faction, having a Star with an Earth Spirit seated within it, dominating the faction's Territory, could not be more beneficial."

"The other, is devouring the Earth Spirit. Some Immortals, in order to swiftly boost their power, would deliberately cultivate Earth Spirits, or find a minor Star where an Earth Spirit has formed. Once the Earth Spirit has matured, they devour it into their bodies to enhance their cultivation and soar through the Realms."

Upon hearing this, Lin Qian found it odd: "If that's the case, you shouldn't be proactively seeking a master, Granny. Aren't you afraid that having a master might lead to being devoured? Moreover, by telling me about this, aren't you afraid of one day being devoured?"

At this point, Granny Huo sighed and looked at Lin Qian: "But I am a fragmentary Earth Spirit, incomplete. If I can't find a master, I will completely disperse."

"I'm very clear about my own condition; without a master, my form will crumble in ten thousand years. Thus, under the blessings of Heaven, to have seen someone like you..." Here, Granny Huo lamented before speaking, "In all those long years, with so many people, I never mentioned devouring to them. With you alone, I have shared this—do you know why?"

"Why?"

"Because I trust you. The Renhuang Martial Emperor, who ensures even the common folks lead good lives, would certainly not do something like devouring me," Granny Huo said, her eyes on Lin Qian.

At that moment, Lin Qian saw trust in Granny Huo's eyes and after a moment of silence, he chuckled, rubbing his forehead: "Granny Huo, you really see through me. Indeed, if I truly become your master, I would certainly not devour you."

"Because, by that time, you would be my subject, a part of the Huaxia Empire. How could I possibly consider devouring my own people for a rapid ascension in Realm?" Lin Qian laughed heartily and said while looking at Granny Huo, "Rather, I would much prefer to have you increase the richness of Spiritual Energy on the Soul Martial Continent, to make it even more intense."

Granny Huo had expected Lin Qian's reply, but hearing it in person still moved her.

She felt fortunate that the Soul Martial Continent could have someone like Lin Qian.

To ordinary people, ten thousand years might seem an eternity, but for Granny Huo, it was a fleeting moment.

She did not want to collapse like that. Using her early powers, she had shaped this Star from her fragmentary form, and she wished to watch over the life on this Star for much longer—how could she just crumble?

Moreover, the Black Demon that had appeared not long ago, of unknown origin, somehow knew she was a fragment from the Immortal Realm.

Staring with covetous eyes, scheming with ulterior motives, it wanted to deal with her. She couldn't do anything but use the Spiritual Energy to defend the entire Star, preventing that Black Demon from entering.

But on the Soul Martial Continent, powerless against the Black Demon's actions, she could only watch as their schemes succeeded.

The Death Qi began to pervade the Soul Martial Continent, eroding the defenses she had created. The Dead Spirit Army sought only to slaughter her children... all living beings on the Soul Martial Continent.

Fortunately, Lin Qian came along, a unique figure in history, named Emperor of the Huaxia Empire, an exceptionally young child.

For some reason, Granny Huo had a misconception that Lin Qian was the master she had been waiting countless years for. He was the one who could allow her to survive, not to collapse, and to become whole in the future.

With this thought, Granny Huo couldn't help but tremble and used her limited control to bring him to the heart of the fragment, hoping he could become her master.

"So Granny, what exactly must be done for me to become your master?" After a while, Lin Qian asked Granny Huo, looking at her.

He remembered that many people had seemingly come before him, and without exception, they had all failed.

Could he truly succeed?

After all, Granny Huo was an Earth Spirit formed from the land of the Immortal Realm.

"The reason they failed was that they couldn't withstand the massive shock of me recognizing them as my master. This shock wave is aligned with the Heaven and Earth Laws, and we Earth Spirits are formed in accordance with these laws, being a part of them."

"Therefore, to become my master, one must be able to overcome the pressure of the Heaven and Earth Laws, but that ability is something only an Immortal could accomplish. Hence, over these long eons, those people have failed because they were not Immortals."

"But are you willing to try?" Following that, Granny Huo cautiously spoke up, looking in Lin Qian's direction.

Lin Qian, after pondering for a moment, replied to Granny Huo: "All these years, I have never known defeat. Since I have come, of course, I wish to give it a try."

"After all, it's not terrible to fail. What's truly frightening is backing down in the face of battle."
