Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Chef Liu Wants to Become a Disciple

"What? You want to become my disciple?" Jaxon looked at Chef Liu in front of him with a surprised expression on his face.

Jaxon didn't expect that Chef Liu had stopped him to ask to become his disciple.

"Absolutely," Chef Liu said earnestly, "Your cooking skills are better than mine. I lost to you wholeheartedly yesterday. I want to become your disciple and learn cooking."

Chef Liu spoke very seriously, and it was clear from his expression that he wasn't joking.

"Do you know what I do?" Jaxon pointed to himself and asked.

Chef Liu shook his head honestly.

"I do barbecue!" Jaxon said, "You are already the head chef at Kaillemen. What can you learn from me? Barbecue? Even if you learn it, it won't be of much help to your current job."

Jaxon was right. Chef Liu was already the head chef at Kaillemen, which was already one of the best restaurants in Goldenleaf. Even if his cooking skills improved, his position wouldn't be much higher.

"You do barbecue?" Chef Liu looked at Jaxon in surprise. He hadn't expected that.

"Yep."

"Then I still want to become your disciple," Chef Liu was persistent, "I want to improve my cooking skills, and it has little to do with my job."

Chef Liu's pursuit of cooking was very high. He wanted to improve his cooking skills purely out of love for cooking, and it had little to do with his job. Therefore, his idea of becoming Jaxon's disciple was still very firm.

"I don't take on disciples, and I don't have the time," Jaxon said.

After speaking, Jaxon left.

It wasn't that Jaxon didn't want to teach Chef Liu on purpose. He really didn't have much time. He was now focusing a lot of his energy in another world. In reality, he was about to have the startup capital and was preparing to start a business. Where would he find the time to teach a disciple?

"Where do you set up your stall? I want to go and have a look!" Chef Liu shouted to Jaxon.

"The street in front of Goldenleaf University," Jaxon replied without turning his head.

Chef Liu didn't stop Jaxon from leaving. Instead, his determination was even stronger.

"Get in the car," Chloe, who was outside the restaurant, had just hailed a taxi. Seeing Jaxon come out, she didn't ask what he and Chef Liu had talked about. She just called for him to get in the car.

In the car, as expected, Jaxon saw the driver looking at Chloe through the rearview mirror. Although it wasn't the same driver as before, the behavior was the same.

"Sorry about what happened tonight," Chloe's cool voice rang out as Jaxon was marveling at her charm. However, there was a hint of apology in her voice.

"I brought you here with the intention of using you as a shield," Chloe continued, "I wanted Kong Hailin to back off, but I didn't expect this kind of reaction from him."

"That just shows that you don't understand him, or men in general," Jaxon said.

Obviously, Kong Hailin wanted to pursue Chloe, and Chloe had brought Jaxon as a shield, hoping that Kong Hailin would give up when he saw that she had a boyfriend. However, she hadn't anticipated the situation that had just occurred.

In Jaxon's view, what had just happened was quite normal. If Chloe had brought someone with a similar or even higher status than Kong Hailin as a shield, it might have worked. But bringing Jaxon was different. Given Kong Hailin's status and arrogance, he would definitely look down on Jaxon and not take him seriously. Moreover, when he saw that Chloe had brought someone with such a lower status, he had already doubted Jaxon's identity and probably didn't believe that Jaxon was Chloe's boyfriend.

That was why Jaxon said that Chloe didn't understand Kong Hailin or men.

"It was my oversight," Chloe didn't argue with Jaxon. The facts had proven that Jaxon was right.

"Well, it's really not a big deal," Jaxon said with a smile, "This incident won't affect me at all. Besides, I don't have much contact with that Kong fellow. Whether we'll meet again in the future is uncertain. The only downside is that I didn't get to eat enough tonight, and I'll have to make something when I get back."

Jaxon's words were partly to comfort Chloe, but more importantly, he truly didn't think he would have any further contact with Kong Hailin. Even if Kong Hailin had status and power, it had little to do with Jaxon.

If Jaxon had known that shortly after he and Chloe left the private room, Kong Hailin had called someone to investigate him, he wouldn't have thought that way.

"I'll take you out for a meal," Chloe said.

Although Jaxon didn't blame her, Chloe still felt a bit guilty. Moreover, she had originally planned to treat Jaxon to a meal, but it hadn't happened.

"No need. I'll just make something when I get back. It'll be fine," Jaxon replied.

The car quickly arrived at the entrance of Goldenleaf University, and both of them got out.

"Alright, you head back to school. I need to get back to my place," Jaxon said to Chloe.

Instead of heading back to school, Chloe asked, "Where do you live?"

"Just up ahead. It's not far. It's only a few minutes' walk," Jaxon pointed to a residential area not far from the school.

"I want to see it," Chloe said.

"Huh?" Jaxon was taken aback by Chloe's words. He hadn't expected her to make such a request.

What did this mean? On a night like this, a beautiful woman was actively asking to go to a man's residence. Even though Jaxon and Chloe weren't very close, this made Jaxon's mind wander a bit.

"Is it inconvenient?" Chloe raised her delicate eyebrows and asked.

"It's convenient. There's nothing inconvenient about it," Jaxon said, "It's just that it's so late. You going to my place might be a bit..."

"Let's go," Chloe directly gestured for Jaxon to lead the way.

Chloe, who had considerable martial arts skills, wasn't afraid of being taken advantage of by Jaxon. Therefore, she wasn't worried about the things that Jaxon was worried about in his heart. Moreover, she herself didn't care what others thought of her.

Seeing that Chloe was determined to go, Jaxon didn't say anything more. If the girl herself didn't mind, why should he?

The two walked side by side, attracting the attention of many students. After all, this was the entrance of Goldenleaf University. Chloe, who had such a big reputation at Goldenleaf University, naturally drew attention.

Chloe didn't care about it at all and remained as usual. As for Jaxon, apart from being a little embarrassed at first, he later behaved normally and even felt a bit secretly pleased in his heart.

Although he himself knew that he and Chloe didn't have anything going on and weren't what the surrounding students thought.
