The Pokémon:Isekai

Chapter 17: A new City,a new Challenge

Sammy crouched next to me, reaching out to pat Aria. But the moment his hand made contact, it passed right through her.

"The hell?" he muttered, pulling his hand back and staring at her like she had betrayed him.

I let out a small sigh, still holding Aria close. "I really don't know... Maybe it has something to do with one of the Pokémon inside that building." I turned my gaze toward Professor Cherry, silently hoping for an answer.

She folded her arms, her expression thoughtful. "It could be, but the only Psychic-type Pokémon inside was the Abra that Sammy caught. And I don't think it had enough power to reach out to Aria telepathically." She gestured toward sammy's belt which had the still tired sleeping Abra.

"Then I have no idea what pulled her there," I admitted. My mind was still spinning, trying to piece it all together, but for now, I just wanted Aria to rest. I pressed her Pokéball gently against her, watching as the red light enveloped her small form before pulling her inside.

As the Pokéball clicked shut in my hand, the first golden streaks of morning light began cutting through the thick trees of Viridian Forest. A new day had begun.

Sammy stretched, then turned to Professor Cherry with a grin. "Hey, Professor, how did you get here?"

She raised a brow at him. "I came here with my truck. Why?"

"And... how many seats does it have?" he asked, a little too casually.

Cherry sighed, immediately catching on. "Oh, I see where this is going. But I'm heading back to Pallet Town." She smirked. "You two, however, might want to ask Officer Jenny. She's heading to Pewter City to file a report on all of this. Maybe she'll give you a ride—if you ask nicely."

"I don't think she wants to see us anymore, so it's probably better if we go by ourselves," I muttered, rubbing the back of my neck. The last thing I wanted was to push our luck with Officer Jenny. She had already let us off the hook, and honestly, I was too exhausted to deal with another lecture.

Sammy, of course, had a different idea. "I'm gonna ask her. I don't want to waste any more time in this forest, and I have a gym badge to win, Raltsy boy," he said with a cocky grin before taking off toward Officer Jenny, his Rotom hovering close behind him.

I rolled my eyes. "Raltsboy, really?" I muttered under my breath. "He is still on that! "

Still, I watched as he sprinted ahead, half-expecting Jenny to shoot him down immediately.

I sighed, turning to my Rotom. "She's not gonna let him, isn't she?"

[**I don't know, Alex Carter, but didn't you leave your camping gear alone in the woods? We should return before someone steals it.] Rotom floated around me, its usual smug tone making returned.

"Oh, crap, I forgot about that!" I spun on my heels and bolted toward the campsite.

As I ran, I took one last glance over my shoulder—just in time to see Officer Jenny handing Sammy a bike helmet.

"He did it!" I huffed in disbelief. "That lucky bastard actually pulled it off!"

I couldn't help but smile as I sprinted through the darkened forest. The events of the forest finally over letting me rest for a while.

After an Hour or So

"I think that's all I have, right?" I asked, glancing at Rotom while securing my camping gear into my bag.

[I think so, Alex Carter. Now we can go to Pewter City!] it said cheerfully, floating beside me.

Meanwhile, Aria and Oddish exchanged greetings in their own way—Aria extending her small hand while Oddish shook it using his leafy appendages. It was a simple gesture, but seeing them get along brought a smile to my face.

I pulled my backpack over my shoulders, adjusting the straps as Aria took the chance to hop inside, nestling herself into the fabric. Oddish watched her for a moment before deciding to do the same, climbing in after her with a rustle of leaves.

I sighed, shaking my head with amusement. "I think I have two Pikachu that don't want to stay in their Pokéballs," I muttered under my breath.

Then, without another word, I took off running, the wind rushing past me as my Pokémon clung to my back.

"Rotom, let's see who's faster!" I shouted, glancing back at my floating companion.

[Alex Carter, I am an Electric-type Pokémon. Of course, I am faster—]

But before Rotom could even finish, I pushed forward, my feet pounding against the forest floor as I raced ahead, leaving the hovering ghost behind.

[H-Hey! That's unfair!] Rotom protested, quickly zipping after me.

As the trees thinned and the dirt path became smoother, I could finally see the exit of Viridian Forest in the distance. The golden morning light poured over the landscape, revealing the rocky terrain that marked the outskirts of Pewter City.

I let out a deep breath, adjusting my backpack. "Almost there," I murmured, feeling the weight of the journey settle in.

Oddish and Aria peeked out from the bag, their eyes filled with curiosity. Aria, still a little tired, rested her tiny hands on the edge of the backpack, while Oddish wiggled his leaves excitedly.

[Alex Carter, according to my navigation, we should reach Pewter City within a few minutes.] Rotom floated beside me, his voice brimming with satisfaction. [But ı have to say your progress speed is acceptable. If you managed to offer Officer Jenny for a ride, you would have arrived approximately 5 hour and 23 minutes earlier.]

I sighed. "Thanks, Rotom. Really love the constant reminders of my bad decisions."

[You are welcome Alex Carter] it said while laughing

Rolling my eyes, I kept moving forward, my footsteps light against the dirt path. The fresh air was a welcome change from the dense, humid atmosphere of the forest, and I could already hear the distant sounds of other people-Not Bug Catchers.

Sammy was probably already there and I doubted he'd wait around for me before heading straight for the gym battle.

"Guess we'll see him after I check in at the Pokémon Center," I muttered to myself.

A gentle tug at my Red coat made me glance down. Aria had crawled halfway out of my bag, her eyes staring up at me to help her go down.

"Okey here you go," I helped her, giving a small smile. "Dont get to away from me!"

She let out a soft hum, then leaned against my leg, content....

Oddish, on the other hand, let out a sudden chirp and jumped down, trotting ahead on his tiny feet. He turned back to look at me, as if urging me to move faster.

"Alright, alright, I'm coming," I chuckled, picking up the pace.

The open gates of Pewter City loomed ahead, marking the official end of Viridian Forest. Beyond them, stone-paved roads stretched into the city, leading toward buildings made of sturdy gray rock. The Mt.Moon in the distance gave the place a rugged charm, and even from here, I could see the Pokémon Center standing tall among most of the other structures.

A new city. A new challenge.
