Chapter 20: Unexpected News
Eliana had always thought of herself as composed—organized, rational, level-headed. But nothing prepared her for the sight of two pink lines staring back at her from the bathroom sink.
Pregnant.
The word echoed like a bell through her apartment.
She stared at the test. Then took another.
And another.
All positive.
Her hands shook.
Not because she was afraid of motherhood—but because of everything it meant. Adrian. The company. The press. Cassandra.
Their lives were already under a microscope.

"We need to talk," she said.
Adrian looked up, immediately sensing the change. "What's wrong?"

Then his breath hitched. "Is this real?"
She nodded, eyes glassy. "I didn't plan it."
He stood. Crossed the room.
And wrapped her in the warmest embrace she'd ever known.
"I never planned on you either," he said. "But you're the best thing that's ever happened to me."
His hand brushed over her stomach.
"We've got this," he whispered.
And for the first time all day, she believed it.
