Chapter 94: 94: Just Let It Go, Just Give It a Try

"It's really strange."

In Asgard, within the palace of Freya, the goddess of beauty, a serene air enveloped the holy garden. Seated elegantly amidst vibrant blossoms, Freya donned a long white gown with silver trimmings. Her slender legs crossed gracefully, and her bare feet rested lightly on the ground.

Her silver-gray hair shimmered under the golden sunlight, cascading like a flowing waterfall as she absently played with it. Her face, enough to drive any mortal or god mad with desire, was tilted slightly upward. A playful smile danced across her lips as she gazed at Kevin, who had come uninvited and now stood awkwardly before her.

"And you came here on your own, without that annoying little Valkyrie tagging along. How curious…" Freya's voice carried a teasing lilt, her piercing gaze lingering on Kevin. She propped her chin on her delicate hand, her expression becoming sultry. "So, have you finally figured things out? Are you ready to become mine?"

"Lady Freya, forgive me for disturbing you!"

Kevin stood stiffly, his gaze darting everywhere but toward the goddess. Even though he had secretly added a rune to resist charm—despite Slude's strict orders not to—he still found himself overwhelmed by Freya's presence.

Kevin swallowed nervously, recalling how thoroughly he had prepared for this encounter. He had ensured that Slude, Skadi, and the others were aware of his plans before heading to Freya's palace. Without these precautions, he felt certain he wouldn't survive the encounter unscathed.

Taking a deep breath, Kevin forced himself to speak quickly, hoping to avoid prolonging the conversation. "I came to inform you that I'll be heading to Midgard soon. I'll likely be away for some time."

"Midgard?" Freya raised an eyebrow, her fingers twirling a strand of her hair lazily. Her expression shifted to one of mild curiosity. "What business do you have in the human world?"

"I'm accompanying Slude to meet her sister."

Freya's playful demeanor faltered for a moment. She glanced briefly at the Valkyrie by her side, whose head was bowed, her expression complex. Freya quickly pieced the situation together.

"Ah, Brunhilde." A soft laugh escaped her lips. "So, you came all this way just to tell me this?"

Her smile turned wistful, tinged with a faint trace of envy. "You spoil her far too much, Kevin. It's enough to make even me jealous."

Hearing the teasing lilt in Freya's voice, Kevin shivered involuntarily. Yet, he steeled himself, ignoring the goosebumps rising along his arms.

"Yes, Lady Freya," he replied firmly. "Before I leave, I wanted to thank you."

Freya tilted her head slightly, her silver hair falling gracefully over her shoulders. She seemed intrigued by Kevin's unusual seriousness.

"I wanted to express my gratitude for your kindness and support." Kevin bowed deeply, his voice sincere. "Thank you for your assistance when I needed it most. Thank you for your patience with me. And thank you for your forgiveness, even when I acted out of turn. Lady Freya, you have my utmost respect."

For a moment, silence reigned. Freya's expression softened, her usual flirtatious energy giving way to something more profound. "Raise your head, Kevin," she said quietly, her voice devoid of its usual playful charm.

When Kevin obeyed, their eyes met. To his surprise, he realized that her charm had completely receded, leaving behind only the pure radiance of her beauty.

Freya's lips parted as though she wished to say something, but the words seemed to falter. Finally, she placed her fingers lightly against her temple and sighed. "You…"

Before she could continue, Freya straightened and gestured to the Valkyrie beside her. "Fetch the Goshawk Feather."

The Valkyrie hesitated momentarily before nodding. "Yes, Lady Freya."

"Wait, Lady Freya!" Kevin exclaimed, waving his hands in protest. "I didn't come here to ask for the Goshawk Feather!"

Freya chuckled softly, her eyes twinkling. "I know. But I wish to give it to you regardless."

As Kevin opened his mouth to argue further, Freya leaned forward slightly, fixing him with an unreadable gaze. "You respect me, don't you? Then respect my decision."

Kevin hesitated but eventually nodded in acceptance. He could never quite figure out Freya's intentions, but her sincerity was undeniable.

After leaving Freya's palace, Kevin made his way through Asgard, his destination clear in his mind.

Eventually, he arrived at a grand palace with intricate carvings and shimmering light. Kevin was ushered through the corridors and into a garden where Loki, the god of mischief, awaited him.

Loki sat at a silver table, a flickering flame dancing between his fingers. His sly grin widened as he saw Kevin approach. "Well, well. If it isn't the miracle boy himself," Loki drawled. "Skip the pleasantries, Kevin. Just tell me why you're here."

Kevin hesitated briefly before sitting down opposite Loki. "I'm here because of Slude's sister," he said earnestly.

Loki raised an eyebrow, snuffing out the flame in his hand. "Brunhilde, huh? That's quite the topic. What about her?"

Kevin hesitated again, then spoke with determination. "I want to know how I can change her fate."

For a moment, Loki's playful demeanor faltered. His piercing eyes studied Kevin closely. "Who told you about her fate?" he asked sharply.

"No one," Kevin replied, shaking his head. "I've known from the beginning."

Loki frowned, leaning back in his chair. "Known, huh? You mortals and your mysteries… Very well."

After a moment of silence, Loki's lips curled into a faint smile. "There is a way. In the mountains of Midgard, there lives a dragon named Fafnir, guarding an incredible treasure. Among the hoard is a golden ring—Andvaranaut. It grants endless wealth but comes with a terrible curse."

"A curse?" Kevin repeated, narrowing his eyes.

Loki nodded. "A curse strong enough to twist fate itself. Even the gods avoid it."

Kevin's lips quirked upward into a smirk. "Perfect," he said. "If it can curse my fate, then let it try."
