The Rejected Alpha's Vengeance

Chapter 515: On Some Days, Letting Go Was The Way

[HAWI]

To say they were shocked at the outburst would be an understatement. The Savasci knights shrunk as their heads were bowed and their faces were filled with the realization of what they hadn't seen up to this moment that she lashed out.

They had been too preoccupied with their loss and too used to her shutting them out that they didn't see her signs for help. It was something that they hadn't really expected because they had always had her sit together even if the world was falling apart.

Maybe they should have paid more attention to her and her pain. And perhaps she was right about them. Rukiya Grey could have seen through her and found a way to make Hawi feel better.

She would have tried everything possible to make things work for them. Rukiya would have turned the world upside down just to see Hawi smile and yet they had failed at that, all eight of them.

"Hawi…" Elodie began carefully as she looked at her sister.

She knew the impact of loss and she knew so damn well that nothing would ever be the same anymore for Hawi. This right here hand was a part of what she had the right, but hearing Hawi shout it out at them, was comforting to an extent.

It was like crying for help for the girl who had always managed to remain stoic despite everything happening.

Life was shit, sure but Hawi was trying to come up from under the water and that was something that Elodie couldn't deny had appealed to her heart regardless of how chaotic it seemed.

"There is no point in going back and forth, Elodie. There is no reason for me to put you through the same shit. I failed to protect my mate, the love of my life and my other half. The girl was supposed to make me stronger and happier, and yet even with her around I was unable to keep her safe.

"What use am I to you when I am not even in the right mind at the moment? I am nothing but a burden and the sooner you accept that, the sooner that everything will be alright. Let me leave with Kadiam and Dumi.

"It is the only way out for me, please," Hawi begged but Elodie was not going to relent. She had been with her sister for the longest time and she refused to believe that this was how their story ended.

This wasn't how the ship they had struggled so hard to bring out to the waters would work for them. They had endured a lot for Hawi and while that didn't make it a right for them to control what Hawi did or didn't do, the fact that they were family, dictated all of that.

Hawi was grieving and they weren't going to leave her alone. That wasn't what family did in times of pain anyway.

"What is the procedure for mourning her," Zane asked the protectors who were still reeling from the shock of Hawi's sudden outburst.

They hadn't expected that the strongest woman in the realm would be reduced to this, but they knew that just because Hawi was feeling low, didn't mean that she was an easy target.

She was just in shock from what had happened and it was just a matter of time before she snapped out of it and would be okay.

"There is no time for mourning, I'm afraid," Kadiam said and he stared at the man like he had had enough of his head on his shoulder. If he wanted to be free of his head then Hawi was more than willing to lend a hand to him, given that he was spewing a lot of nonsense to her right this instant?

"Careful there, Kadiam. What the fuck do you mean by that?" Mbali voiced while He growled slowly in a warning. She was trying to hold herself back, but there was only so much that she could manage at this rate.

Insanity was slowly winning and frankly, Hawi wouldn't be blamed for any of that. Rukiya Greyson was her lifeline and she disappeared in a moment like there wasn't much she could have done.

The answers that they were seeking hadn't found a way out and they still had so much to do either way. But even with all that, surely there had to be a time for mourning the one person they had loved more than life itself, right?

"I mean just that, Lihle. There is literally no time, because there are things you need to solve. Things that need the white wolf's attention," Kadiam insisted and Hawi sighed, already balling her fists like she didn't want to go through with this.

She couldn't be blamed for it, really because at the end of the day, she was always going to be Rukiya Greyson's mate. It was a truth that hurt today with all that was happening.

Hawi hated that she couldn't fight for Ruru and she hated that life had to go on when she was in mourning. What part of the chaos seems so casual for the protector or were they just born to be cold like that to everyone?

Oh, but it wasn't fair at all and how I wanted to protest, but even if she did, was that going to change what they were thinking on her behalf right now?

"You have to explain it better," Mbali said, trying to gauge what this was about. She knew that if Hawi was left to ask the questions, heads would roll and blood would flow unnecessarily.

They had done their best to keep Sicario safe and to make sure that the realm was as good as it could get.

Granted, they had been stuck in Sicario in their delusions and worries of what would happen and hopes of a time when Rukiya Greyson would wake up, but the war that they had won had proven to be very essential to the realm.

Life outside of Sicario was going on as usual and it was really something that they all had to be grateful for.

"Rukiya Greyson died three months ago. You were in denial, all of you and we gave you three months to come to terms with that reality. The Greyson and Sicario wolves were made aware of the loss on the very day it happened and they have mourned their alpha and come to terms with the fact that the Greyson alpha is no more.

"They mourned her like they would any alpha. They did things according to the customs and came to terms with their loss already. We only stayed away because we hoped that the eight of you would come to terms with the loss soon enough too.

"But three months later, you all are still in denial. Which is not something the moon goddess can allow at the moment, not with all that is coming," Dumi said and Hawi stared at him like she had heard him wrong.

They had added to announce her mate's passing without asking her whether that was the right time?? Stay tuned to My Virtual Library Empire

What the fuck kind of reality was this for them? Why the hell had they been struggling with a reality that was so fickle and their hearts getting broken when they hadn't done wrong to anyone?

What kind of hell was this? Perhaps this was a dream. It had to be because there was just no other valid explanation of why this shit was the way it was. No one deserves to be treated like this because of a loss they couldn't control.

No one deserved to lose everything just because the moon goddess was an impatient woman.

What happened to letting the living mourn the dead? Why the hell was there a cap on what and how they could mourn their dead this time? That shit had happened when the Sicarios had died, so what was so different about this one?

"So, what now? Huh? We just stand on the sidelines and watch as life goes on for everyone while we are stuck without even mourning our fallen? Is that what this is about?" Rio asked, not liking the way things had become for them.

They had been postponing the mourning period because they didn't know how to start.

They had lost so many people that they loved and cared for. Granted, losing Rukiya Greyson was the epitome of that pain, but there was no denying that they had been putting off their tears for the longest time.

Sure, Sicario was lonelier than it had ever been, but they had managed to find solace in that. they had managed to find some hope in their being together.

What was happening was not fair to them or even their beliefs because at the end of the day, they would always be who they had been before the war. They were the team that had won the war and still lost a lot more than anyone could ever begin to understand.

"We don't have control over what happens, Rio. We are only here to deliver the message. And let you know that the Greyson and Sicario territories have been merged to form a bigger Sicario. That also means that all of the Greyson wolves will be under Sicario.

"The dome will cover the entirety of both territories. And before you ask how that is possible, that was the moon goddess's wish. The land that was known as Greyson and has been magically moved to form a part of Sicario.

"That means that the free lands are the barrier between the new Sicar and the rest of the world," Kadiam added as he stared at the eight crazies who looked like they wanted to kill them.
