The Rejected Alpha's Vengeance

Chapter 567: Loving And fighting, Accusing, Denying

[HAWI]

"You are the right person for the job, Hawi. I studied you for years and how you interacted with the same humans you swore you would kill just to send me a damn message. You hated them and yet you never once raised a hand against them.

"I wouldn't have chosen you if you weren't half as good as me. You are who and what they need right now. Their savior and their hope. You are the light they have been waiting for, for the longest time.

"You can make them into better people or turn the wolves into a bitter bunch that will spend the rest of their lives attacking Sicario and getting killed because Sicario is impenetrable on every front, you made certain of that," Islinda said casually.

She had so much faith in Hawi to the point that it was honestly terrifying. But perhaps this was the kind of faith that Hawi needed to step forward and reclaim that which was hers even if there would be consequences.

There would come a day when Hawi would be standing against her mate and it was horror for her. However, it was shown that when that day came, she wouldn't be all alone. She would have someone watching over her and cheering for her.

"Fine. Let's say I agree with whatever absurdity you're talking about right now. What is stopping me from killing everyone and then killing myself? Surely that doesn't sound like a bad idea if you're the one we answer to anyway, right?" Hawi questioned sinisterly.

She was playing a dangerous game, but she wasn't scared of what this would turn out to be for her. She was ready to pay whatever price there was, and a part of her was counting on the fact that the moon goddess trusted her a little too much with all that she valued.

"You wouldn't do that. You swore to Ruru that you would be a better person. You swore to love her and protect her. You couldn't even lay a finger on her. Look at you now, distraught because you can't tell if the werewolf queen is your mate or a shell of whom he once was.

"You could be back there eliminating her and yet the moment you saw her, you ran away because that wasn't how you expected to see her. You have seen her countless times in your dreams and she surprised you with her fresh lavender scent.

"We can go on with giving you a thousand and one reasons for you to take the job, or we can get right into it and spare so many people misery," Islinda said as she looked at her creation. Hawi was stubborn, but she was effective, and that's what she needed.

"I don't trust you," Hawi voiced for the hundredth time and Islinda just chuckled.

"I know. Which is why you should take on the job and see if I lied to you. I only want to create a better environment for you and your people. Besides, if it is any consolation, whatever Ruiya did those years ago, it was for you and her.

"That is all I can tell you," Islinda replied as she sat back on the chair that she had been waiting for. She had gotten tired of standing to prove to Hawi that she wasn't insane or even that he still had a choice in every matter laid out to her.

"For me and her?" Hawi asked disbelievingly. She hated the thought that so many things had gone wrong and they couldn't be fixed even after seeing what it had done to so many people out there. It was selfish and Hawi despised that thought.

"Yes. You were and will always be the most important person to the young Greyson. You're more important to her than her life and her friends," Islinda reminded as if Hawi didn't already know that haunting truth.

Honestly, it was the same for her. She loved Rukiya so much that she would have done whatever she needed to, to save Ruru, even if that meant giving her life up. It was a truth that haunted Hawi to this day because a part of her wanted to blame Ruru for leaving her.

She wanted to blame the love of her life for making the selfish decision even though she had the feeling that Rukiya wouldn't have made that damned choice if there were other options. Maybe when the sun would go up, they would have better luck with the universe, right?

"That isn't supposed to be comforting, you know that too, right?" Hawi sighed like she couldn't believe she was about to teach the woman how to be emotional when everything she did was based on the emotions of her people.

"But it is the truth, Awuor. Anyway, I can't freeze time for long. I need to know if you consent to resetting her memories and fixing the timeline to what it was before she knew you were alive.

"That also means bringing back all the wolves who had left in horror back to Hernia. And more importantly, it almost means that you will be going to work in hernia as usual without any qualms.

"You will just be another wolf in Hernia and she will be your queen. None of the protectors and warriors will know of your existence on this side of the realm. Is that understood?" Islinda asked to get Hawi on the same page.

She could tell that this wasn't going to be easy for Hawi and her heart hurt for the girl who had just found the love of her life again. It wasn't the best of things for Hawi too, but Islinda understood her. Maybe with time, they would find a way.

But until then, this was all they had at hand.

"I hate you for this, I hope you know that," Hawi remained as she glared at Islinda.

"I know, young wolf. I know… If it helps. I won't undo your memories of what you just saw about your mate or the consolation it gave you. I am not that selfish to deny you the truth that you have been trying to figure out.

"Well, it's not the truth per se, since you don't know why your mate did what she did, but at least you have a better chance at protecting her if you know her, and she doesn't know you, right?" Islinda shrugged and Hawi groaned.

She hated how honest Islinda was with her. This woman wasn't even playing around with words anymore. She was just giving Hawi the hard dose of the truth she had been hoping to see. And the favor she was doing was all that Hawi needed to know he could trust her.

"Define. Get on with it," Hawi said, even though deep down she didn't want to.

She wanted to be able to run to Rukiya and embrace her, but she had to wait. She would find the damned Salvadors and screw them over so badly that when she was done with them, they wouldn't have a way out.

"For what it's worth, I'm really sorry," Islinda whispered softly before she undid the time stop and what she had promised to undo. This was not going to be easy for Hawi, but Islinda hoped that she would be able to get over the chaos.

"What of the rogues they came to hunt?" Hawi asked, determined to make sure her mate wasn't the target of ridicule in a realm that could tear her Ruru down if they were sure she was an amnesiac and didn't know that Hawi would always protect her.

"That narrative changed. She came to visit club Hernia, not to hunt rogues. You are safe. And most importantly, she is safe," Islinda reassured, making Hawi let out a sigh of relief. This was way better than anything she had ever thought possible.

Granted, it wasn't the outcome she had thought of, but then she had known that all of this had been happening to her mate or even around her Ruru. Oh, how she loved that girl with all of her. Well, she would see her again.

"Alright. I better get going then, huh?" Hawi stated excitedly. She was looking forward to seeing Rukiya Greyson again, and this time, with the memories of what she had been told by Islinda. If she wasn't stubborn, she could have hugged the crazy goddess.

"Yeah. And thank you for agreeing to this. You had a choice not to help, but you chose to help. I will forever be indebted to you because of that. If you need anything, just let me know," Islinda said earnestly, her sincerity making Hawi smile with ease.

"How times have changed. Who knew the great moon goddess would ever owe me, the rebel, a favor," Hawi chuckled sadly even though she was glad that this meeting had happened, however unhinged it had been.

"Such is life, and we have to work with what we have and hope for better days. I'm only a call away if you need me," Islinda reassured.
Your journey continues on My Virtual Library Empire

"I know. See you again, Islinda," Hawi said

"Until we meet again, Sicario," Islinda said before she disappeared and Hawi portaled back to Hernia.

At least this time, Hawi didn't feel fucked out.

*****

"Goodness woman, where the hell have you been?! We were supposed to see the face of the werewolf queen and you just disappeared! Don't you want to see the face of the woman hidden in the shadows who took your job?!" Mbali asked excitedly and Hawi let out a soft laugh.

This would be very interesting.
